Not a problem, i hope next time you think before you act.  I try and avoid the forums as much as possible, (check my count) but when i am wrongly accused and called names...in a VIDEO GAME!!! i gotta reply.

If you ever get in group with us next time and we have a fair fight on our hands you will see the mighty NL at work.

Write me a properly formatted, grammatically correct five paragraph essay on the concept of growing up from your point of view and I will accept.

lol dark jedi. seriously dude, you're a noob. get over it.

Also to the NL guy who posted, shooting through objects in the BF's is NOT  player issue, it is a system and SWG bug, NOT purposeful exploit by players(at least in the BG's). No need to bash or give up because you think people are cheating.

No i do not shoot through walls, nor exploit. but i've seen it done, had it done to me, and from my experience, i believe it is simply a random bug generated by a faulty system.

Correct. It doesn't happen all the time, either. I've tried reproducing it and it seems to only happen at random -and not very often, at that.

I've heard it occurs mostly around the stairs...but in my experience it seems to mostly come from jedi or something with movement modifiers, meaning it's likely related to server lag/player connection/packet loss.

But i'm no dev so i really don't know. I haven't been able to consistently reproduce it either.

It's caused by a desync between the two clients and the server.  The server actually displays everything as correct, however your client doesn't, thus making it seem like you're being shot 'through' things.

I've been able to target a player that's in my line of sight, wait until they run upstairs, and have been able to then start shooting up through the floor. I've never been able to shoot through walls though. Most of the time I get Can't See Target over and over but every once in a while it'll work. I've tried standing under the stairs, I've tried standing in the middle of the main room downstairs, I've tried firing from all of the adjacent smaller rooms, tried while running, while standing still, running from room to room, etc. If there's a steady way to reproduce it every time, I haven't found it yet.

When it happens to me, I'm always upstairs and they're always shooting from below. When it happens, I just run outside for a few seconds...

...or sprint downstairs and let them have it

Server lag is definitely a part of it. I've noticed it more at peak hours than any other time, but I could be hallucinating.

Not this time. That's now LOS exploitation works. This is a whole new monster, two different legit bugs that are specific to certain battlefield locations.

You mean the staircase bug?

It's under the same concept.  Go camp the stairs in DWB for a bit, that bugs been around for ages SMILEY

Whoever you were talking to was making the point that if you know about a bug and you take advantage of that bug, you're exploiting. It IS cheap. It IS cheating. If your target runs upstairs or around a wall and you continue to fire at them landing blows instead of getting Can't See Target, then you are indeed exploiting.

It ruins the spirit of fair play and fun, but if "SOE's fault that I'm taking advantage! SOE's fault that I'm taking advantage!" is going to be your creed then you're no better than someone who goes out of their way to cheat.

You really ARE a lesser player. If you can look at yourself in the mirror, then good for you (lawlzvideogamedramatehnoez /wrists). However, some players who still think other players will actually fight fairly will become disillusioned and you'll probably end up at the business end of their disillusionment-gripe.

It's NOT fair. You CAN choose not to exploit the bug. That's what he was calling you on and he's right.

That being said, I sleep soundly at night knowing I've clone camped, stolen a DB by waiting until my mark got incapped in a friendly duel with someone else, etc. It IS cheap and it IS cheating. Continue doing so until you're blue in the face, but don't deny that you're cheating.

the npcs tend to bug through the stairs and end up on the upper floor and end up Agroing everything above.

Yep.

For some reason, cell-movement through stairs is buggy as hell in this game.

No clue why it wasn't adjusted on TC though.  It's the only issue with Battlefields I've had.
