How do I get off the first floor of the tower

I've ran aroud and defeated eveything. I activated all the statues. Now there is a abrrier with no stats - just a light crystal. I can pick it up. I can destroy it and it rgeneraes. What am I suppose to do to get get past the abrrier.

It's been some time since I've played this, and considering the date you posted you've probably already figured this out, but I believe the light crystal can pass through the barrier and that is the key to using them to disable the barrier from the other side. Someone please correct me if I am mistaken.
