Eventhough i have bought them i still ahve not got round to getting the essences to make the tomes.......
Fiery pummel was for me a total failure as a spell on test, but have not been on the test server for weeks....
Has anyone tried the new spells yet to provide any feedback on them in terms of usage and damage?
If you've been keeping up, the rate on the component drops is pretty absurd. I don't know if anyone has the new abilities quite just yet.
Finally had a few spell comnents drop, few, err, 2... After 4 days hunting and farming the BoD/FP area, bridges and towers. Almost L51, and not a hope of seeing the spell by then.
Looks so far like all the spells/skills will also cost a 5pp quill, and a T6 UR resource, so cash farming will also be needed.

Just to point out, 5pp was the day of the GU, it's since been nerfed down to 50g (they said they added one too many 0s on accident).
Also, as to drop rate, it's slow, but it's not insanely slow. What sucks about it is that everyone will need three drops. If you were just farming one part for one person, drop rate would be reasonable. I saw three this weekend from maybe 3 hours of grinding.
One clarification for all the above.
Spells are now reasonable price for lvl 51 spells. It is 10g.
Skipped the fiery pummel for the reasons i have posted.... Not wasting ANY time of all this grinding to get this spell as of now.
But as i have understood from all the discussion here.... you need 10 g to buy the spell. Then you need insane grinding to get the essence to combne with the bought spell to create the tome of power, or you also need a crafter with full POTA faction to give him the spell, the essence then the T6 UR to combine all and make the final spell?
Or is it like the swamp faction where you give a crafter T6 UR, he then makes the required crafted item and you combine YOURSELF the 3 required items?
It would have been wonderful to have seen 3 drops in 3 hours. For us all totalled it is more 2 in 20-30 hours doing BoD/FP. That includes clearing in to and holding towers, 3&5d elementals on the beach, mini-nameds, apprentices etal.
All three of the drops we saw were not from BoD proper, but rather the beach on the south side of the bridge and to the west (5 dot elementals) - particularly over by the wyverns near Dresla.
Wondering if that means BoD doesn't drop them, but they drop instead on the beaches outside of BoD?

So you're saying that they drop off of the elementals roaming out front and not the ones on the actual bridge? I heard that these only drop of the named on the bridge itself. I'll try some mobs tonight for the 128937198237198231 hours it takes and post my results =)

For the ... what is it, Shard of Brilliance? We got it from killing the 5-dot elementals in the Dresla chunk, possibly also on the north side of the bridge (but not on the bridge). I don't remember if we got one ON the bridge, but I can definitely confirm they were dropping from the 5-dot elementals not on the bridge (including the ones in Dresla chunk).
Also, fwiw, you can raid those (18-man), still get about 9k per kill (maybe that's 12k now?), and mow through them fairly fast. That's what we did for 3 hours Sunday, yielding I think 3 drops for spellcaster, one for melee, and one for healer. Didn't see the one for tanks, though.

Thanks for pointing that out Golbat i felt my blood pressure going up there for a moment. So the quill hs been lowered from 5pp to 50 gold? If thats the case then it doesnt seem all to unresonable.
Just to clarify, the cost of the component from your trainer was 10x highet and was reduced to 10-50 Gold. HOWEVER! The cost of the part from the Exotic Crafting Goods vendor is STILL 5 Plat! Don't know if that was also to high, but I beleive it is the intended price sadly.
Yeah, but that's a crafting tool, meaning it can be used over and over again. Thus, it's not like you need to pay 5 plat per spell. Rather, the crafter needs to invest that much to get the tool, then use the tool to make many, many spells.
Was the same way with the griffon saddle part tool - was what, 1 plat? I bought one, and easily recouped my money by selling the saddle parts. Should be the exact same with this part for the spell upgrades.
Ahhh, sorry, I avoid crafting like the plague in VG so missed reading the details. Loved to craft in EQ/AC/DAoC etc... just not VG.

Just a follow up, the Tools used are all zero cost, the 5pp items were consumed components. Luckily they dropped the cost on those Fri from 5pp to 10gp.
Leave the only severe cost as the Petrified Wood, none on the broker, 1 shouted auction last night, only a 'mere' 25pp....
