My vgclient has been crashing lately and I don't know what the problem is. I have been playing Vanguard just fine in the past but as of late it started crashing to either a loading screen (frozen after full load), char select, or crashing to desktop. I looked for solutions on the forums and out. So far I've tried: deleting cache, uninstalling and reinstalling (after deleting the old vanguard folder after uninstalling), turning off virus scan programs, turning off firewalls (pc and router), getting latest drivers, checking the vgclient.ini (just in case some lines aren't on default). I looked into the vgclient.log to see what could be crashing the client and found this error line in the log:

ERROR: XML Fatal Error: ..\VGUIAssets\Shells\Default\Windows\VGUIAttachments.xml [0:0] - An exception occurred! Type:RuntimeException, Message:The primary document entity could not be opened. Id=C:\Program Files\Sony\Vanguard\VGUIAssets\Shells\Default\Windows\VGUIAttachments.xml

My game time is like 5-10 mins before it crashes. I don't use any mods, i use the standard UI given by vanguard. I don't know why it says the client can't open the folder. Is it a RAM issue? I haven't had ram issues before, plus i run on the lowest settings and highest performance. Oh, i also get some "lost connection to social server" and "lost connection to world server" notices in game before the crashes. Eventually the notices just end and the crashes just start. The aforementioned error line is the only error that pops up in the vgclient.log though so i dunno what's wrong. Please and thank you for any advice/possible solutions/ and help.

Hmm.  That is kind of odd - especially after a full reinstall.

Are you using Infomap ?  That also resides in the shells folder.  If there is a conflict between it and some software you're running, Soresha may already be aware of it or able to help you out with it.

You could download a free ram testing software from a site like majorgeeks.com - MemTest is one that comes to mind.  Other than that, to be 100% sure that its not a conflict with something running in the background of your PC... you could start up in a clean-boot state and see if performance improves. ( just don't surf the web or open email attachments in that state, as your anti-virus would also be not operating )

Clean boot instructions are here for XP if you want em, or google "clean boot vista" if thats your OS.

Let us know any further developments.  I might have thought an overheating router, but you seem to have already tested that.
