Hello to all!

Thought I'd stop by and introduce myself right quick.  I'm Sandy.  New to not only Vanguard, but to computer gaming altogether.  My BF is a veteran Vanguard player, having ascended from humble beginnings as an "Ever-crack Head".  He's been trying for months to get me to play, and finally hijacked my computer and installed the program.  And the rest, as they say, is history...

I've recently created a High Elf Paladin character (Veyla Kahmnell on Xeth server) and am working my way through the Isle of Dawn.  As I'm SO NEW to all of this, I'm sure I will have *many* stupid questions, so bear with me.  (I will reserve the MOST stupid of the questions for my BF, though, so I only have to deal with him laughing at me for the time being...)

And I think that's it for now... SMILEY

Well hey there! Welcome to Vanguard, and basically "the" most addicting form of game you could possibly play!

Feel free to ask away.. the people on these forums are a pretty friendly bunch!

There are no stupid questions, well except for the question you don't ask.

Its ok we are very gentle with the noobies at first.

At first?  Should I be afraid?

Just kidding!

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I'd say the majority of the time I'm playing - like, let's say 100% to begin with - I'll be sitting within arms length of my BF who will be able to field most of the REALLY n00b questions.  Like, "Am I supposed to kill the chickens or what??"

(I do realize that I'm probably making myself out to be so much more lame than I really am...LoL...)

Haha... nah, you're not coming off as "lame" or anything like that!

Well, maybe a little..

Having someone right there while you play should take care of most questions, but feel free to post up anything that your bf might not cover.. lots of helpful people on here!

Welcome to Vanguard!

Apart from pestering your BF for questions, here's the most important tip of all: READ THE TEXT!  Whether it's a quest, an item's description, an ability or anything else... READ!!

Enjoy yourself!! SMILEY

Welcome SMILEY  It's nice you have your bf close by for the basic gameplay questions.  But feel free to ask people you see or others who play your class.   If you do a /who all *yourclassname* 50 (where "yourclassname" is actually just the name of your class), it'll give you a list of the level 50's in your class so you can go right to the experts.  Most of them are really nice about answering class specific questions.

I remember when I started playing online a long time ago and had absolutely no clue whatsoever about what I was doing.  My daughter sat next to me and taught me to play and well .... that was hmmm well over a decade ago!  Hope you have lots of fun!

Whow, I remember how it was when I started computer gaming ! LOL I created a ton of characters in Baldurs Gate and never was happy about any of them. Years later I checked my old savefiles and was absolutely blown away what stupid characters I did back then. But dont worry, it is much easier to create a character in Vanguard, than in D&D.

And Highelf Paladin is a great choice. I absolutely adore my own, she's so beautiful. Kinda wished I played her earlier. Also, Paladins are uber solists, even on low levels already.

Welcome!!  Don't feel bad, I know exactly what you're talking about. I tried to kill the chickens too, took me forever to figure out what I was doing wrong ! I'm having a blast so far though so hang in there I'm sure you will too once you start to get things figured out.

Welcome to the world of MMOs. I dare you to try and stay away. SMILEY

By the way, High Elf Paladin is only second to the High Elf Cleric. An excellent choice none-the-less!
