I hit 50 last weekend and since I have been joining in with PvP on recursion, I was wondering how do you interoperate someone deciding to "fight" you? Do you see it as a compliment that they want to fight you as a worthy opponent or do you see it as they are taking you on as they see you as an easy target or maybe a personal attack?

I don't pick a certain person often I just pick closest enemy or if there is a group healer I try to go for them (if I can find them before I get locked)

Personally I see it as a compliment but it may be the other in there mind

I must say that last night (27/03/07) was really good PvP on recursion and im not ashamed to say im a noob to PvP it showed me what PvP can be and I learnt alot!

Well it depends on the person and the situation.  Sometimes you want to go for a weak target, sometimes for someone who's annoyed you.  Sometimes you hash out a battle plan with your team and attack based on that.  Sometimes it depends on where people are positioned or how they are grouped.  People who are particularly strong or who have a reputation may attract more attackers than normal.  PvP can be a big complex interaction, decided by a range of changing variables.  The main thing I guess is to have fun :)

Edit: Missing capital.  Oh and Aqua, you have typos too.

In PvP you will encounter many situations where various decisions effect who a player will attack.

You will without a doubt encounter all the following..

  • Someone gets attacked because they are seemingly an easier kill - mostly due to XP in pvp
  • Someone gets attacked because they are the nearest target
  • Someonoe gets attacked because their loadout favours them against the person they attack
  • Someone gets attacked because they are someone they rather kill
  • Someone gets attacked because of a tactical decision i.e killing a healer etc

Any could apply, and in most the case they are mixed and matched.

That pretty much covers it...

Myself, i find when using Sniper/rifleman as i do in PvP alot, So, testament to Aqua's line about experience in PvP - players resistance and loadout weaknesses become easy to remember when you PvP against them constantly. You will be able to tell, for example, he's wearing a widows moor cap and a Direwolf; he'll be lacking ballistic resistance, and thats a big asset on Recursion PvP because you can Use firearms skill and Line up the shot together before flagging, meaning high damage.

personally i recommend pvp quite a bit to get your name out there, as well as dueling around the HL with your class, then people will realize and respect you
