I must have you confused with someone else SMILEY  Though, in all fairness, I was in the top 100 to get an account on the Ubisoft forums back before MxO was with Monolith.

Thanks for that pic, it just bumped the leading "oldest MxO screenshot" off the top of the list, and it's been in first place for quite some time now!

The ubershine on certain clothing types has been adjusted and I expect will be making it out in the next update, although that's never in stone until we see it in the official patch notes.

Please note that the texture corruption issue reported by Darkhawk above is Vista-specific (I double-checked those particular dress and shoe combinations just now in XP and they're fine there), probably not directly related to specific specularity levels, and has already been noted by him and other users in the "Vista Issues" tech support thread located here:

Ugh... Can anyone in the office be bothered to make a mod for us to use this UI instead of the current? Its just so much more Matrixy to some of us. SMILEY

Here's a few tips Rarebit:

Try updating your development system to Vista and get off XP immediately!  Then maybe you can see what the rest of us are experiencing.  I don't care about your working preferences are, or your personal stubbornness to use Vista.  XP is outdated and being phased out.  DON'T BE SO STUBBORN ABOUT IT!!  As a developer you should be working with the most recent technologies available.  If you work in Vista then you will be better able to catch the problems and report them to your engineers and they will be better able to find and fix the bugs. Like I said - you cannot do your job in XP and expect users to all play in outdated OSs and with outdated cards.  GET IT STRAIGHT and do what you are supposed to do!  It's not your job to turn your nose up at Vista and then use it as and excuse for all the faults you caused.

And texture artist is not your forte'.  I don't like the recolor job your did on the black suits. They are far too black and lack highlights and the subtle bits they had before then.  They are pretty much ruined.  They are flat, lifeless and don't mix well with the environment around them.  A texture artist is supposed to use depth, color, environmental unity, realism, blending, texture feel and appearance.   Like I pointed out before in the update discussion thread about the glasses.  You put too much way too much shine on everything.  And you used broken textures and reflections that where not meant to be used.  Put it back the way it was and stop messing with things that weren't meant to be used in the first place.   And if you cannot or will not adhere or learn these things then I will suggest that they look into getting a new artist who can adapt and work with Vista and problem solve.

It's not about what YOU want.  It's about what the customer wants.  That is the first and foremost lesson you apparently need to learn.  We pay $15.00 dollars a month to play a broken, outdated game that doesn't need anymore things going wrong with it.  And certainly not developers whom refuse to use the newest systems simply because they think they don't need to.  That fact outrages me the most about you.    "Oh well, She's using Vista ..." ... gawd!  Do your job and stop making excuses.

If Rarebit does use Vista, how on earth is he going to do his job properly if it keeps mashing to graphics to bits.  It isn't his job to report bugs, there is a whole techincal team who will have MxO installed on Vista machines and are looking at solving it, same with the Nvidia lag problem.

Those shines were not broken, they were just not rendering, they were supposed to be used.

Rarebit isn't doing what HE wants, he is doing what he can to cater for the hundereds of people who play this game, thats why some the shine/discoloration was removed/fixed as part of the last patch.

Rarebit takes screens of Live Events as a recap for people who couldn't attend, as far as I know this isn't in his job description but he does it anyway, not only that but he needs a system that will not mash the graphics as part of this, I am sure that once the Vista issue is solved (if ever) he will start using it.

Save your $15.  No one is forcing you to play a "broken, outdated game".  If you choose to pay and play, then you accept the circumstances and the environment provided.  You're not paying $15 a month for "A Matrix experience of the highest caliber using state-of-the-art technology conceptualized only by the most creative geniuses in the Universe".

Anyone who has been in the industry long enough knows that the only thing you get by jumping the gun and buying the shiniest, newest software is a handful of problems.  Case in point.  You may be l33t for having Vista but I'm sitting lmao at the fact that on my XP OS, my graphics are superb.

The fact of the matter is that Vista is now a widely used operation system that is starting to phase out XP. New players will be using Vista most likely...since it works with y'know...every other game, so I don't think that we need one more thing holding us back. We should be catering to the needs of a (hopefully) evolving player base. This is the kind of thing that we should be hyped to change as soon as possible.

Good point.

I don't have a problem with them upgrading MxO to work better with Vista.  I was moreorless ticked that someone is going to the length of chewing Rarebit out like that.  Honestly, Vista compatibility is the LEAST of the concerns for this game, imho.

Just because Vista is the latest OS that Bill Gates personal monkey slaves produced does not mean that Rarebit has to use it. If Rarebit was using Vista I would be extremely amazed (and scared for the stability of MxO)

I bought Vista on a new PC, ran it for 2 weeks and got fed up with it's slow response time, stupid display and the fact that it turned my computer into an insecure emo. Afterwards I installed XP and it's a heck of a lot better. Simple thing I'm trying to say is Vista < XP and I'm sorry that you spent £250 on an OS that has a brilliant front cover but the fact of the matter is that the problem lies within Vista, not XP. Rarebit is trying to fix the issues with Vista which is more than I'd do.

I think they point they were trying to make is that now that Vista is out for better of worse, it is the OS that is being supplied with new PC's. So a new gamer gets a flashy new PC and happens to try MxO and what do they get for their attempt to play? A lot of glitches.

I've heard that it is a problem with Vista, a problem with DirectX 10 (as part of Vista) I've also heard that its a problem with the coding of MxO. I have no idea if it is a problem with just one of them or a combination, but if SoE doesn't want MxO to go down the pan, they need to have someone look at it if they haven't got someone looking at it already. This includes the problem with the nVidia 8000 series cards.

What ever the case, a good business practise would be to have at least 1 PC running Vista just to do the QA checks for those running Vista, again they may already be doing this. Using the Dev software on XP shouldn't be a problem as long as it's checked with Vista also. Any problems on any OS with regards to disruptive graphical glitches, indeed and glitch that interferes with the running of the client should be a high priority fix.

Personally I am sticking with XP until Vista gets SP2 or equivalent, or I find something better....

Black Silk Collar Shirt. (all female silk collar shirts are effected, these have shine built
into the texture they don't need extra spec, alot of the time the black looks dark green)

Black Consular Midriff Blouse. when camera or self moving it looks rubbery like the Squad Leaders shirt.
This fabric however does not require shine. The black looks grey at the moment.

shown here, Red Milleri Silk Peacock Silk Tailcoat & Gold Milleri Silk Keyline Silk Tailcoat
Some of the tailcoats have visible shine, might want to check the intensity of that, or turn it off for the soft materials.

Blocker Shades used to look a lot better.  They look too fake and plasticy now.
