As many people have said over the course of MxO's life. The mission system is fairly repetitive, enter a building - search/kill repeat a few times per mission. Rinse repeat!

Well, I've had a thought...

Although it doesn't rectify the monotonous situation, You could add a slight twist to this system. Why not have certain mission type or random occurances of external mission areas.

There are plenty of beautiful environments in MxO that we Hyper-Speed by to the next block of flats to search that mainframe. The code is already there to do so. As you've all experienced, whilst running between buildings you suddenly find an ambush party spamming your evade shield =)

The only problem I can see is how the game registers all party members are within the mission area, and maybe how the waypoints work.

Have a think, post your pro's and cons.

It's most probable I've over looked a serious problem with this idea.

I remember one mission that had us taking Commandoes to their deaths using area gangs... I liked that one... maybe get some back up operatives to fight an ambush that jumps you outside, and the mission doesnt continue till they are all dead. (AKA you die, you fail because it will be to hard to find them after a death.)

The Mission system does not support outdoor mission areas.

it would be intresting if they all stayed in the same area but we already have a problem with wandering npcs this would make it even harder to find them :p sounds cool though

We have missions outdoors, they are called pandoras boxes, you open them and kill things- it's simple. Killing in doors and killing outdoors is pretty much the same killing, theres just hyper jumping outside... and ninja looters.

The Pandoras Boxes aren't missions, they are a player activated NPC spawn device which just have predetermined drops (which occur with a % chance) which can be used to get to the next mission.

Mission's are based in areas, the system can only register these areas as being inside buildings. Anything like getting escorts killed on purpose is simply a clever way of flipping the idea of preventing an escort getting killed which can be done inside or outside.

I.e. a mission can be succesfully completed without any interaction with outside NPC's.
