Since when you are watching a fight, the combat rings on the feet of the fighters stay just green I suggest that 3rd person watching the fight should either not see the rings at all or see the corresponding red and green colors when hit/miss. Actually I prefer to remove them to make movies and pics look better.

I think removing them would be easier.

I take it when two players are IL'd then their stats and rolls etc are sent to the server and info is returned to the client? Aren't the combat rings that show hits and misses tied into all of that? If so wouldn't that tie up more server time if someone else were to be able to see the changes? I'm not too savvy on the actual workings tho' thats just an idea I have on how it works.

I think removing them would do well...

There's no real need for them, considering that your hotbar will display whether your move has gone through or not with a special. You really don't need a ring to tell you whether you've just hit someone or not. If the game's system requires them, keep 'em, but give em o% opacity..

Can't they be turned off with the Ctrl+F command?

Yes but tht turns off all other effects too. I mean't this more to everyday gameplay wud be nice NOT to see the rings unless u r the one that fights.

They were added in for CR2 and since then never really seen the purpose for having them in there. They weren't there for CR1 and since abilities have a hit/miss animation I really see no reason for them, and they get bugged alot.

Aye, I don't even notice them. So if they went, I'd not miss 'um.

I hope that you're not referring to the rings around a player that we use to chase hyperjumpers...

Ah, don't times change, back near the launch of CR2 onto the test-server, many players were complaining because they didn't know who had won/lost the current combat round because the 'queue' UserInterface that existed to show you who had won previously was removed, therefore they spent time in developing this to allow players to see who had won/lost/drawn that combat round.

I myself do not see the combat rings most of the time due to either, my camera is zoomed in too much, or at certain angles I notice the rings disappear, but aside from that I still do not pay attention to the feet of the characters while combate, my main focuses are towards the top of the screen, on my hotbar, mystatus, opponentstatus and my 'actions' tab. So I can not say I will miss it if they did remove this, however it was developed, tested, and implemented for a reason.

Lol...I kinda miss that old interface with the icons coming down, and then crashing together with the roll numbers showing.

You know what else would be slick...if this game was dual-screen aware, and you could have your game view on the left side, and then your combat, inventory, marketplace, chat, compass, buddy list, etc..etc..etc on the other screen sorta like a side-dashboard.

I think they are there as they show you who has won or lost the normal attack rolls, specials have the green or red flash on the icon on the hotbars.

I would be ok with them getting shot of the green rings but the red flash on the ground at the loser of the current roll's feet should stay as I am using them, unless they add the red/green flash to the normal attack tactic hotbar icons.

EDIT: I hate the bug when they stay behind after interlock has finished.
