you realize that this game is called the matrix right? Unless you are at a base like the Old Zion you need a hovercraft to go anywhere for a variety of reasons. You need a crew to run a Hovecraft. And Hovercrafts to run a fleet. Hence the factions. Now if you want to be solo dont join a faction or create a crew with an alt. Netherless if you want to be on a ship you need a crew of some sort as it plays into the storyline of the matrix and is rather essential. Watch the movies and you will see why a crew is needed on the Hovercrafts. Unless your a cyph and are re-inserted into the matrix to never awake.
