This worked for me hope it worked for you.

Please make the following changes in your Matrix Online directory (usually locate at CSMILEYrogram FilesMonolith ProductionsThe Matrix Online or CSMILEYrogram FilesSonyThe Matrix Online):

1.) Please delete all of the following files: client.dll, artpclnt.dll, binkw32.dll, msvcp71.dll, msvcr71.dll, patchw32.dll, autoexec.cfg, options.cfg, useropts.cfg,matrix.exe.
2.) Once those files are deleted, right-click on your Profiles folder and choose "Rename". Add a number to the end of the folder name (such as the number 1 to make the name "profiles1"SMILEY. ***Please note that you will lose your User Interface settings, maps and hardlines- do NOT delete this folder or you cannot undo this change!***

Once complete, restart The Matrix Online game. Toggle a Full System Check from the EULA screen then login.

Wouldn't a better option be to either move those files to a new directory/zip them up or rename their extensions (ie dll -> dl_) so that if something goes wrong, the player still has access to that information? Same with the profile folder, you could just zip it up.

Aside from that, I'm curious as to how that exactly fixes the problem as it's a rather drastic solution.

i did that anyways. I back up everything before I deleate things.

As for why it worked I have no idea. All i know is that the patch didn't download right. But the checker didn't see that. So I deleated the files it redownloaded correctly and it works.

For those who want to take the extra step, yes they can go ahead and back them up or save them to another directory.

The good thing about the patcher is it will download the default version from the server if the file is missing.

But you could always go back to how it was by replacing the new files with your backed up ones, yes.

2 possible reasons that it might have fixed the problem:

  1. A corrupt entry or invalid character in any of the .cfg files would cause a crash on load.
  2. A corrupted 3rd party .dll would not get replaced by the launcher. They only get replaced when missing.
