I think that because there is such a long wait-time in between those 1-minute bursts that the items themselves are almost too pointless. I mean, I'd forget I had one of these things in my inventory let alone waste even more space.

But perhaps that's the conflict of interest... Point is they'd be better with a shorter cooldown timer or a longer lasting effect. I don't mind people on fire in the Live Events posts at all. That one with all of them on fire around Pace... Was actually pretty funny.

But there isn't really a reason or a need to have the effect last for more than a minute. It's more than long enough for screenshots or movie clips. It's long enough for some random fun. Sure, you might not be able to have an entire interlock battle while on fire, but there doesn't seem to be a need for that.

Hm, maybe this item in particular could have a longer use timer and a short cooldown?  I mean, some of us actually want to RP as Unlimits....heh-heh.

Heh, theres a lot i'd like to see added/changed in the items themselves.

I mean the flame virus has absolutely nothing to do with chapter 1, i'd much rather have seen the green sprite from Morpheus' code bombs.

That actually means something to the chapter.

Same with the fly storm.

The items should be related to their chapter, not some random FX pulled from a hat. Thats why im actually pleased to see the code eyes. Now just to go over the old ones...

I have concerns about the (albeit distant) future for these effect items. Eventually, people stand to collect so many that it becomes a burden on their inventory. And although you could email them to yourself, I dont regard that to be the most convenient of solutions if you were someone who used them frequently.

These items aren't necesarily storybreaking if they have an unlimited use time. It's easy to use these in storylines.

Not only that, but I don't use any of my virus items for the fact that there is no point using them if they only last 1 minute. After about 10 uses, they no longer intereste me. How could they? All they are now is a waste of space, therefore, a waste of time it took to make them.

I wonder how many people are even interested in getting one of this item. I'm not entirely sure I'd be bothered spending the time it takes to get it.

Yes, you do. You also will have to do the 5 criticals from the other 2 organizations as well (so 15 total).  It's just like the requirements for the Flame Virus, Fly Virus, Fly Storm, and Blue Headlamp.

Even thought the Flame Virus had nothing to do with Chapter 1, I'm not disappointed in it at all.  I wasn't privilaged enough to be in the Beta and I missed out on everything from there.  I think it's a fair reward for doing all those missions and meeting Morpheus 3 times.  Yeah it took me 3 weeks to do them all but it made it mean that much more when I did get it.
Personally I  would like to have a longer use timer (only 2 minutes) with the same 5 minute cool-down.  But, it's ultimately up to the devs.
Just think though, now that we have 5 of these items (the 4 mentioned above plus Code Eyes), you can macro them together and always have one activated at all times.  I know it doesn't accomplish anything towards getting a longer use / shorter reuse timer, but now you can always have something on SMILEY

The flame virus was in the Beta AND in an event with the Assassin, Enmascarado and Niobe... but not in chapter one.
