I'm not sure how feasible this is in terms of space in the database but i was thinking about this recently.

A lot of people are fed up of having to look like a colourblind idiot with no fashion sense when using their good clothes...
So why not offer a service for say... $5-$10 you can have an item made in the style you want.

However.

The buffs have to be ones found on an already existing item of clothing of the same type.
The buffs can not be frome collector items or any of the special items of clothing.

Same goes for the Models used.

After paying the money you will be given a single copy of your special item.
The item can not be traded, or sold to NPC's

It can be repaired but has a dificulty of 55

It has 3 dots of purity and degrades fairly slowly but when that item is recycled or finally breaks with no purity it is gone for good.
===========

this idea is intended to have 2 positive outcomes.

1.) People have an alternative to looking like an idiot while using the nicer items. I think there are many female characters that will be very happy to be able to dress in sensible clothes rather than having to look like "Ladies of ill repute" and still retain the buffs needed to keep their edge in combat.

2.) More money going into the MxO coffers can only be a good thing.. even if it all goes to SOE.. they will see MxO as less a burden and possibly as a potential money earner if they put in just a little bit more cash!

The only negatives i can see to this idea.

1. a Dev has to do the work of creating the item.
Could be the main reaon for rejecting the idea as the Dev team is overstretched already.

2. Players cant tell what buffs oponents have by looking at their clothes
Well this is a stupid reason to complain as

    a.) you should fight based on how your oponent fights not formulate a load around their weakest buffs because you  have memorised the stats of all the common gear people wear.

    b.)RSI captures are coming in so if people use them you wont see what they are wearing anyway!

==========

Please post any constructive critism or opinions on this idea.. not "they should let me make a completely custom item so i can pwn everyone else" or related

Basically, the cost of the time spent creating such items is going to far outweigh any reasonable amount you could charge for them.

I support this suggestion I know Rare and team is overstreched but we'll see.. it's a good suggestions to have a vendor where you could trade in for a few diff. colored items of the same item from let's say level 40 and up.

I agree with Cads, plus Dev time should be spent on content for everyone not for the benefit of one or two people.

It's hardly one or two people that would like the normal buffed clothes that's buffed to be in black or gray, red or white.

Sry dark, its neither worth the effort nor the money, and if the "special or" quest" items won't be custimisable, noone will use it anyway.

IMO if anything, having a tool to "capture" how ones RSI looks anytime, and then being able to save that cature into a non-tradeable singleton item and use it like a haloween mask would be the best way to implement something like this.

But then again there are other restrictions.

The best way I've seen that would solve the issue of clothing is a suggestion that Phi put forward (with sample image).

This would allow everyone to wear what they like and have the buffs they want. This is without using up more database entries and although may take a bit to implement on the Dev's side, at least when it's done, it's done. Of course there comes the issue of stacking, but with the RSI captures etc... that's going to be an issue anyway.

I have always wanted custom content.

Sounds like a good concept you have there.

As said earlier Rare and co seem very busy?! But.... Keep a thread alive long enough I am sure it will come up on there radar whether its implemented or not? :S

there are three threads thrown into this section's first page at the moment with ideas for visible/effective clothing, and years ago there were three threads in this section with the same purpose that had hundreds of posts in them. fyi

Didn't Rarebit mention once that Dracoment was toying around with the coder tree so we could do things like this very idea?

Yes but then someone else mentioned that Dracomet no longer works on MxO.

If Dracomet didn't work on MxO you wouldn't get Updates.
