It's interesting that the Morpheus sim abandoned his original purpose (to search for a new or better one, it seems), while the original Morpheus could not let go of his.

What the simulacrum said is what I've been saying all along, the Machines do have emotions or instincts, even if they do not fully comprehend and display them. The decisions made by 01 were as a result of not wanting to die and their actions speak many words of trying to prevent their own destruction in the most logical way. Even if they were thinking in possible outcomes of Zion's building a fortified city...

I have not heard Machines stating that they will use the data in the archive to kill anyone, yet that is what Zionites are suggesting. Has it occurred to you that the Machines may just decide to isolate the signals and possibly prevent those operatives from gaining access to the Simulation?
Of course we both have our own viewpoints on what the Machines and Zion want and these viewpoints have been laid out many times before.

((Credit where credit is due to Kojenta and Mumbley and Rare. The continued Agent attacks only enhanced the whole event and the related conversation actually moved the story along well and IC, well done, I enjoyed this scene!))
I, like many of us, think that if the Machine is making assumptions and "feels" fear because of it, the concept of using that information to terminate operatives is highly feasible. Again not certain, but feasible nevertheless.

But yes, the assumptions are thick on both sides, and I think that the simulacrum doesn't find a need to get into the thick of it and add to any of it on either side. Makes perfect sense, it's just the timing, which at this point is working against both sides.

Oh yeah, and 01 doesn't exist anymore. The destruction of that city is what sparked the war we're fighting.

Perhaps the Morpheus Sim has the capacity to want what the real Morpheus was afraid to accept... peace.

The real Morpheus wanted peace. He just knew that the truce wasn't real peace. The truce wasn't and still isn't the real solution.

The real Morpheus didn't want peace, he wanted Neo's body back.  And he killed bluepills with codebombs when he tried to blackmail the Machines into doing what he wanted.

Those are not the actions of a man who wants peace.

You can write him off as as terrorist, just like the rest of us. But then again, most machinists don't see our actions since the end of the truce as those of men and women who want peace anyway.

The Morpheus that "died" turned into a swarm of flies, supposedly. Also, around this time, there were all sorts of Morpheus sightings, all found to be "imposters". Like many things then and now, it doesn't add up. Quite honestly, we don't know where the real Morpheus ends and this simulacrum or simulacra begin. Yes, the man wanted to know what happened to Neo. I think at some point, we'll all need to know. But I also think that we can't be entirely sure that everything is as it seems with Morpheus. Hell, that whole reinsertion thing had over half of the people here fooled.

I'm just saying that with the way things are going at this point, we have to keep at least a little doubt about everything we think we know.
