Hey MxO! I can't believe this game is almost shutting down. It was a huge part of my life ever since I signed up at launch until I left at the end of 06. It was a blast while it lasted. Though I stopped playing my main RSI and never made it past level 25, I lived and breathed LESIG and threw everything I had into the characters.

Just to clear things up, I did get kicked out of LESIG. Once the plot started getting ridiculous with flying Seraph, I told one of my ex-MxO-playing friends about where things were going, and I'm guessing word passed on to Cap0ne, one of our good mutual friends (he's doing well!). I got the can shortly afterwards, and it coincided perfectly with the end of my subscription. The time I had with LESIG, though, was absolutely phenomenal. Having to constantly improvise and think philosophically deeply stretched me in ways I never expected, and it also helped me work on my writing/acting abilities. A lot of my stuff was pretty overwrought, but hopefully it was some good theater.

As far as characters I officially played for LESIG, in alphabetical order:

CorpLeon: One of The General's guys on Recursion. He never said anything and he died hard from a code pulse.

DanKasper: This was a bluepill character I made for an event where glitches were spotted down at the Uriah wharf. I missed it.

Fivetool: This guy was a member of Scanline that popped up for a single meeting on Vector. Everything he said/did was baseballl themed, and the character only lasted for about a week before I got the boot from LESIG. If anyone remembers him and his meeting at the Zion construct, kudos!

Gyrho: Gyrho was a one-time character who popped up for an event with Ghost on Vector (http://forums.station.sony.com/mxo/posts/list.m?start=0&topic_id=35000003975). He was some kind of outlaw, and he never did much besides shake his fist a lot and yell at people.

JackNeilsen: He was the first person to get infected in the Shane Black event on Recursion. I forgot to take off my hat at one point as Smith, which got some laughs.

Khursun: Hooboy. Khursun was one of my absolute favorite characters to play, ever. I always wanted to play an antihero, and being a Cypherite absolutely fit the bill. I originally started this character for an event for The Rakshas, which kind of gave away my LESIG identity, but I felt good repurposing him. Even if he wasn't officially a liasion. The Cyph factions on Recursion - as well as the secret Cypherites like Ebola, Iovai, and Austrian - were some of the best company I could ever ask for. In-between coming up with a backstory, philosophizing, and spreading story rumors, I formed a really solid bond with these guys and even befriended them outside the game on occasion.

Khursun had a couple good f-ckups, including one time I think I accidentally told someone Cryptos was getting revealed (whoops!), but the HvCFT Unknown and the crazy guys who followed us around were an absolute blast to hang with. I had so much fun tormenting MadHattah (I don't think I ever told him we were purposely pissing him off), and the late nights at Camon made the whole LESIG thing worth it. I would pass on hanging out with actual friends to get online, and I felt genuinely antagonistic with other players from opposing factions (even if I agreed with them). And of course, I eventually sent Khursun up in flames. Thanks a ton of the memories with this one, guys.

Soniya: Soniya was my other favorite character to play on MxO. She also originally started as an event character named TheConcertmistress that I wanted to run, but realizing no one wanted to solve more TheJoker-esque puzzles, I gave her up to Scanline. It was weird/exciting/adventerous enough to play a convincing female character, but having to play a schizophrenic nymphomaniac was an entirely different beast. I had to completely stretch my improv/acting chops to get Soniya's character down, but it was absolutely worth it. The constant puzzled and flirtatious /tells I would get totally validated the experiment, and I talked just enough to be a constant presence but not so much to risk overexposure. I got to have teatime talks, blow kisses, and generally explore some kind of what I could only construe as my  sick, warped, and unstably murderous female side, and the confused looks and constant speculation more than paid off.

I originally wanted to incorporate Soniya into Scanline's backstory, having her as a beauty-destroying fugitive who first stole the hovercraft, but I left before final plans were laid out. Wanting to wrap up her story, I floated around the MxO sphere for a bit after I left, popping in once in a while with pre-recorded messages and the Lost Sojourn blog (http://lostsojourn.wordpress.com/). Lost Sojourn is one of my favorite writing projects ever, and it relies hugely heavily on symbolism. It basically tells the story of Soniya's apparent violent streak and descent into a pitch black psyche; please give it a read if you haven't seen it before! Cap0ne renewed my account for a month about a year ago, and I came back with a redesigned Soniya, hoping to stage some kind of grand final event for her story. The remaining LESIG (2.0?) people discredited the character and left the story for dead. Oh well.

Besides LESIG, who can forget all the other MxO memories, especially from good ol' Iterator? 500 points to anyone who remembers Aelaterdoltem, abacic, and TSMessenger. MxO had so much potential that no other MMO since has managed to bring back, and even though the bulk of it went untappped, I think we did a pretty good job squeezing dry what we could.

And that's a wrap. Thanks a TON to all you guys -  especially the Recursion Cypherites - for making MxO such a wonderful time. Nothing else in my life has even come close to the bizarrely psychological, philosophical, deeply-involving, emotional, and enlightening experience I had as a LESIG member. I felt like a rediscovered person coming out, and I hope you guys had a blast coming along for the ride.

Until I return!/Scan for the truth, dears. Teehee!

This is when LESIG was good. Shadowman is a good friend of mine that put a lot of hard work into his LESIG characters.

While I knew "who you were" (I never knew you were Shadowman, though, nor do I have any idea who you were outside LESIG within MxO) by this point, I always wanted to see that part succeed. I really liked the Soniya storyline you had going, and was very disappointed that the rest of LESIG discredited you at that point, especially since there seemed to be a fair bit going on.

Hope college is going well. I now understand why you wanted to leave Indiana. So did I SMILEY.

A lot of literary experience, to be completely honest. How to get into the mind of a character, what way is best to place installments. I also learned a lot about the best ways to entertain MMORPG crowds, mostly from being a part of that crowd.

I've made a good several friends as well, but I don't so much feel that needs to be stated here.

Actually, I think it was.

But someone else is gonna have to back me up on that.

Broin did actually meet him in game ( I think). I believe he was played by Rarebit, though.

It was Chadwick. If I recall correctly, that was a rather old issue, when Chadders was still doing them all by himself, and he went online once as Andres and happened upon Broin.

This was confirmed somewhere in an interview with Chadwick, but I don't remember where.

According to 10011, it sounds more like that was Mr. G.

Also, people made it a bit easy to find out who a few of them were. Using your photobucket account for a signature was a simple way for some people to discover who was who.

Others, such as Privaront (or myself, for that matter - I ended up namedropping by accident not long after the group stated going, because Slayboughn is also my characters bluepill last name), were pretty obvious.

As a Lesig was there any time where you thought events got out of controll and you just wanted to flip out? hehe.

( if this question was already posted, then I missed it lol)

I have had plenty of times where players invaded other orgs' meetings or crashed their events. We usually tried to keep the players away from other orgs' events if at all possible.

As far as out of control? I can only remember one time (off the top of my head). We were doing the event, where the LupinePup would lead the machine players to the Lupine hideout <--- (link). Naidian gave them specific orders to be sneaky and not to be seen by the LupinePup. However all the players blatantly disregarded the stipulations and ran after The LupinePup at full force. It almost ruined the entire event for them. I was pretty upset at the whole thing. The event we had planned out would have been pretty cool, but the players ruined it, so we had to improvise. That may be the closest time I came to flipping out.

It wasn't about the part that they did their own thing, but that the so blatantly went out of character about and just chased the LupinePup around. To me, it was a big FU to the event we had planned. I had to get a teleport to reset me and wait for an actual good RP player to follow me.

Othinn and his tracking did not help out the situation any, either.

Oh and to top it off, when I finally made it to the hideout and talked to Vulg (Rarebit's character) he said "What are you..." for some reason. When he should have played it as I was a young Lupine of their hideout/pack. I guess he wasn't real familiar with the premise. He should have been more like "What's wrong?!" Instead of "What are you..."  lol

Edit: Oh and I got pretty discouraged when players started openly complaining about the tournaments I held for them.

OMG YOU DIDN'T SAY NO UM!!!!1111one

As the title suggests, the harder question is aimed at the LESIG players involved with its creation and perpetuation.

As for the latter, who were you?

I was Slayboughn, as was fairly apparent.

Oh, and as an addendum, I'd be interested in knowing who was who on the list of "names" (i.e. descriptions of the common users of the board) that was distributed.

Antiderivative
BreezySwing
Concatination
Coronation
HoIIowpoint
HovercraftBattleCoordinator - Syntax sim for post-Vogt hovercraft battles
Incomprehensible - Level 50 Recursion Cypherite. Spoke with a cockney British accent, and was once a murderer who went by "Jack the Knife," a monicker similar to that of Jack the Ripper. Incomprehensible got his name from the idea that the truth was incomprehensible, but many consider his speach to be incomprehensible as well, so it had a doublt meaning.
Indutiae
Kyojun - A character created to participate on Vector for Hovercraft battles, since Zion had relatively no presence. The character evolved into Wanzer's father, and the captain of a smuggler ship in sympathy with Neoteny's cause. His ship is called The Salvation
Mahavidya
Mitigation - Machinist turned EPN character on Syntax. One of the captains of the ships, Akashic Record, on the expedition.
Muhl
NeNOTeny - Syntax character for party
Neoteny - Level 50 Recursion Zionite/Morphite. Neoteny "died" in March, but had pre-arranged with QuiDormit for the killing to be a fake if Zion won the killcode during the "Dead Winter Dead" event. Neoteny was set to/has re-emerged within the Matrix using minute oligarch capabilities and more dispersed and less human-targeted code bomb attacks to destabalize the system. I claim that the servers being shut down is his doing now, because I can.
Odinbolt
Overshadow
Perseverence
PressureGauge - human awakened by Neoteny's code bombs. Became a Zionite and joined the trust. My way of staying with them after I had to leave for RP reasons.
PubIius - level 20 Syntax EPN involved in several missions, rank 1 hovercraft captain under the Vogt system.
Regretful - low level Cypherite character I had for Vector. When hovercraft battles were just starting I planned to battle on the Cypherite side using her and develop her character.
Sabotaje
Schalar - some Syntax character I made that people thought was LESIG. Gave me a chuckle.
Slayboughn - Neoteny's United Tomorrow alter ego. Used for a misson on Syntax.
Swallowtail - Recursion EPN PET character aboard the Strategos crew. She was later lost in a crash and stumbled upon another downed ship named the Polemarch. She worked extensively on fixing up the ship, and provided Neoteny with the formula for code bombs. When she finished restoring the ship, she ceased to communicate with the outside world. Her outcome is unknkown.
TransmittionJam
TriangulationDrive
WanderingSaint - Merv alt made to give Sieges a fighting chance on Vector in a hovercraft battle. (This was done out of love of the game - not for spite of the competition, just FYI. If I get flak for this, whatever.)
Wanzer - name of Neoteny's operator, never really played. Derived from name of mech in Front Mission 3.

This is kind of good for me, since I wanted to end my sub, but wanted to keep hovercraft battles running.

If anyone is interested in continuing hovercraft battles via xfire or something, please send me PMs and maybe I can establish a forum anyone who wants to participate can use. Or, hell, if Vogt wants to, he can start doing them again, since we're all out of the game now.

By this point, there's no point in keeping the game running. Nothing to do, no one to see. As soon as Rarebit left, it was done.
