So anyway I haven't been in game in a month or so. Reasons being the laptop with the game installed broke and University is taking up a lot of my time again. This, along with my current cash flow problems, means I'll be quitting again for now. You can count on me returning though. Sometime next year when my current year at Uni ends. Till then, laters.

I'm probably going to get flamed for whining. Yes I gank people quite a lot. But I do respect the idea that new content is designed to improve the game, and all people should be entitled to enjoy it, especially with our server being in so little numbers lately. So I've barely fought at Bathary. If there was a big PvP battle going on I got involved, but that's about it. There have been lowbies running around without evades but I haven't even bothered.

Unfortunately, not everyone shares this feeling. Today I came to Bathary on my level 32, and was looking at the Collector. An EPN 50 comes and I jump, but low and behold, he sends a tell saying "it's cool". Surprising, because he's an EPN and I'm a Cypherite, but I guess he sees also that new content should be respected. Moments later, I'm attacked by one of the newer members of Causality who usually has a bit too much to say. He attacks, and kills me straight away. Argument ensues.

Anyway, I reconstruct and go to Bathary West. Quite a few people there fighting some spawns. I stand there and wait for some to spawn for me to kill, when suddenly I'm attacked by another member of Causality, who usually talks quite a lot of crap. Argument ensues again. The Zions who were being peaceful there kill him. He says something along the lines of "I don't give a **** about new content". He comes back again later, and the same happens. He even leaves the 50s alone and just goes for me. I switch to my 50, and die, but come back and kill him. More crap talking ensues, and he calls the friend I had trouble with to begin with.

My point is, I understand attacking people at archivists, whilst missioning, during events even. But new content is different. We all want it. We all want to see what it's about. And for the most part people are being peaceful. IcedOut even held an awesome tourney last night while we waited. As hostile as I usually am, it's fun to see people being able to cooperate while we wait for the content. My other problem, is that these people left the 50s alone, and specifically went for me, seeing a lowbie in an unknown faction, who most likely has no way to defend himself. I'll probably get called a hypocrite here, but I attack 50s as much as I attack lowbies, and once again, new content.

So this thread is to ask, what's your stance on this? Should people be able to stay peaceful during new content, even if for a little while.

I probably wouldn't care as much, but the system designed as it is, I can't go and solo these NPCs in some corner of Bathary. I have to stand right in the thick of it.

So I go to Mara, which is the village bicycle of PvP, and begin to fight. I end up getting tag teamed by a Zion and a Merv while a former-factionmate just watches, and rezzes them each time they die, and a lowbie in another Machine faction insults me. Then the reds, each of which I killed, insult me too.

I know I'm just going to get flamed, but hell I felt like venting.

Greetings. To most of you I am an unknown. To some of you I am Samael. To our masters I am simply Mr. Gehenna. I am the Captain of the Aether ab Abyssus and I command the Terra Nova. Terra Nova is Latin for ‘New World', which is precisely our aim.

To many, a Machinist is seen as a traitor to his own kind, a servant of his enslavers. However, this narrow minded view is incorrect. I work for the Machines because they gave me life. I work for the Machines because they brought me up. I work for the Machines because they need us as we need them.

Long ago, humanity made the foolish choice of denying the Machines equality in ‘their' world. Instead, they attempted to destroy their intelligent creations, and destroyed the world in the process. No longer would animals run through the land. No longer would trees attempt to reach the sky. No longer would we be able to look upon the stars. This proved to be futile anyway. The Machines triumphed over an inferior, arrogant species.

This could have been the end. Why not? We had fallen, doomed to extinction, as our predecessors had at the dawn of Homo Sapien. So, I ask again, why not? The Machines gave us what we had lost: Purpose. Was this out of mercy? Necessity? Perhaps a love for their parents that they could neither explain nor define? Either way, they allowed us to continue. No; they caused us to continue. They created us as we had created them. Designed for a purpose.

But they did not just allow us to become mindless batteries, or allow us to suffer a constant reality of pain. They allowed us to dream. They allowed us to dream as though our forefathers had never scorched the skies and burnt the lands.

That brings us to the present. The world is still in ruin, and yet there are groups who wish to ruin this last remaining sanctuary. Zion, who despite the truce, often behave in suspect ways and want to live in caves for the rest of their life. E Pluribus Neo, who wish to tarnish the name of their ‘savior' by spitting on everything he worked for to gain their own personal glory. And of course, the exiles, whose presence must not be tolerated.

And so, of course, one of our goals is the preservation of the Matrix. Our other goal is Machine-Human relations. Our forefathers once had a chance to accept the Machines' offer of peace, but they did not. Now we are paying for those mistakes. However, I truly believe one day we will all live on the surface together in a unified, symbiotic relationship that benefits both our kinds. I even believe we will repair the sky one day.

In conclusion, to those of you who have read this, I thank you. To those of you who oppose this, your end is inevitable. And to those who share our vision, we will find you.

From the moment we are born, we are in a state of conflict. Be it sibling rivalry, fighting back our natural urges, or something altogether darker. I believe the second example serves us best. Our minds are in a constant state of conflict. Those who understand Freudian concepts will recognize the term "id". The unconscious part of our mind that exists from birth. The natural part of our mind. The part that acts only on instinct, and seeks pleasure. It does not believe in peace. Peace is a moral idea. A social idea. Without these unnatural barriers we are left with two conflicting desires. The life drive, and the death drive, or Thanatos An urge inherent in all living beings to return to a state of non-existence.

And what about conflicting emotions? Love, happiness, anger, hate. How can peace be kept between two people when the mind itself is a war ground.

War too, is natural. Throughout history nations have waged war against one another. Yet, here we still are. This is the more shocking truth. Not only is war natural, but it is the key to the future. Without it there is stagnation. War causes change. It allows for improvement. A more recent example would be our truce, opening up many new options.

And what of the unfortunate losers in these wars? Those crippled by war. Empires crumbling in the face of a superior enemy. The answer is simple. "Survival of the fittest." A cruel statement perhaps, but what else has willed us to survive in this cold, harsh reality.

So what are peace, order and stability if they are not life? Once again, the answer is quite simple. Death. This is the only form where true peace and order can truly be found. And so we will give them the peace and order they fight for. Change is coming, and blood will once again need to be shed for a greater cause. Those who fight for peace and honor will find themselves falling to those who understand war and survival. How futile. There is no honor in death.

I will bring them peace without mercy.

One of my characters, the MA, is named Apollyon (spelt APOLIYON).

Lately I've seen a few lowbies with similar names appear. I just want to clarify, being a paranoid person, that if anything is said by these characters then they are not me. Unless they are spelt APOLIYON. The variation I saw earlier today was APOILYON.

When: Because there are so many to choose from the competition will go on up until 16th May (my 18th Birthday )

Prize: The prize will be 10million to the overall best (Meaning more than one sig depending on the quality), and 3mill going to 3 runner ups. There will also be 1million to the best avatar. I know the prizes seem so little but that's currently half of the info I have. I may raise the prize if I have more info by the time the competition ends.

Although I have some skill with Photoshop I am an amateur compared to the more experienced on here and so I thought I would make a signature competition. Due to this, I am going to post the screens and any details that might be useful in making the sig (crew, faction etc etc) but the rest is up to you. I'm looking forward to seeing people's different styles used on my characters

So I was on Izanami, my level 24 Coder, getting ready to take screens for my new Sig Contest (Coming to a Residual Self Image forum near you!) when I see this level 18 Zion with no evade standing next to the Hardline. And I think to myself "yay", and begin to code up a Simulacra. Lowbie doesn't move while I make it and then I command Sim to interlock and kill. Then I get called a firkins hoarkey or words to that effect. He also says something else, I forget, to which I replied and began the following conversation:

Lag. Lately I have noticed quite a lot of lag in Megacity. I spend most of my time in Richland, so this isn't the whole Downtown thing. It seems to be particularly at this time, my latency meter goes right up to red, and it becomes horrible to do anything. I'm not saying my computer is perfect and I never experience any lag at all but this seems to be beyond ridiculous. Hell, I just died in a mission and got disconnected because it took so long to reconstruct.

Is anyone else having this problem?

What does your character/crew/faction names mean? Why did you choose them?

I find names to be one of the most important aspects in character creation as it's the first thing people will look at when they see you ingame. Not only that, but the names in the movies usually have important meanings too. It saddens me when I see random names with seemingly little meaning but nevermind that.

I'll post my own tomorrow. Not tonight because I'm going to bed and it's a long, long list.

I was at a meeting on Vector to discuss issues to do with the server and in general. Whilst there the subject of Devs finding the events unpleasant due to constant non-event discussion taking place came up. At this point I had an idea and suggested it but alas it was washed away in the waves of text.

I'm not sure if this is possible in the game but it doesn't sound too hard. The idea would be to implement a 2nd Area chat. This one could either be accessed at all times (and be called the RP Chat) or just implemented during events. This way those who wish to say hello to whoever who shows up at a big Live Event can without distracting others and flooding the chat.

Of course, it is possible people may still decide to flood this 2nd chat but it should at least cut some of it down.

"Who smashed in your windows?" He was dressed in a simple white t-shirt and jeans. He resembled any other resident of Richland. However, his voice was odd. Although he had attempted to sound friendly there was definitely an air of condescension around him. The man on the other side of the counter either failed to notice, or didn't care.

            "One of those redpill types. They were brawling, right in broad daylight too, and one of them got kicked straight through my window!" The elderly shopkeeper's tone was one of anger. "Then, without even so much as a ‘sorry', they continued their fight back on the street. I ran out after them but they were already gone."

            "They cause trouble wherever they go. Someone ought to do something."

            "Heh, I'll leave that up to the law. The things I've heard they can do! I'm sure some of it is rumors but there has to be some truth somewhere."

            "The law?" He gave a laugh that reeked of arrogance as it echoed around the small, tiny shop. "They work together. I've seen them. Those officials in suits shaking hands with those trenched troublemakers. They won't do anything."

            "Seriously?" The shopkeeper was obviously both surprised and disgusted. "This city is so corrupted. It's just chaos!" His customer gave a quick smirk at this comment but it vanished as quickly as it appeared.

            "If you want anything done in this city, you have to do it yourself." His face was now one of complete seriousness.

            "What? Like vigilantes? Don't be stupid. That'd make us as bad as them. Not to mention the punishment. And I'm just an old man!" The shopkeeper shuddered at the thought of having to fight.

            "Do you have children sir?"

            "Yes. Two. But I don't see what that has to..." He was cut off abruptly.

            "I was taking a shortcut home from work yesterday. One of these redpill types approaches me. He starts telling me all sorts of ridiculous things. About machines. About dreaming. About some sort of messiah. The guy was obviously high as a kite. I told him where to go in a not-so-polite fashion, and then, if you'll believe it, he tries to give me some kind of drug. This little red pill. It resembled a jelly bean. I refused of course, but imagine if that's one of your children, or their children. I mean I don't know their ages but you can see what I'm saying?" The elderly shopkeeper who had been nodding throughout his story appeared worried as soon as his children were mentioned.

            "I never thought about it like that." The customer nodded back in a sympathetic way.

            "I know how you feel. My point is that unless we, the normal people, do something about this city, then it's going to fall apart. I'm just thinking about the future."

            "Yeah I see what you mean. Maybe you're right."

            The customer glanced at his watch. "Oh dear, it's getting late. I'm sorry I've been talking your ear off." He picked up the little pack he had just purchased. It was labeled ‘Slumberil'. "Goodbye!""

            "Bye. I'll keep in mind what you said!" The shopkeeper watched the man leave his store.  As soon as he was on his own he gave a cautious glance towards the door and then reached down towards a draw and opened it. Inside, laid, among other things, a handgun. He muttered to himself, almost absentmindedly. "I'll definitely keep in mind what you said."

He looked around to see if he was alone. The alley was empty. Then there was a strange fizzing noise. The man who was dressed in a white t-shirt and jeans had disappeared. Standing in his place was another man. He wore a red vest under a crimson trench coat decorated with flames. On his head he wore a black hat and rose-tinted glasses. His expression was a satisfied one. His smile was arrogant. Behind his glasses, his eyes were full of purpose, and perhaps a touch of madness. He put the small pack entitled ‘Slumberil' into a pocket. After giving another cautious glance around the alley, he looked up to the sky, and then jumped into the night.

I am back.

I originally intended to leave my main account(s) deactivated until February of next year due to college. However, after using a trial account for a few days I realised I missed this game and my factionmates, so I've decided to renew. If after a month I can continue my current streak at college whilst playing this game I'll stay.

Yes that moment you've all been waiting for. Both my accounts are cancelled.

I've quit the game mainly for 2 reasons, and surprisingly not the usual this-game-sucks reasons.

The first reason is money: I need it.

The second reason is college: If I don't do well then my whole elitest-holier-than-thou attitude is rather pointless...All jokes aside MxO has been hindering my progress since I started playing. I screwed up my GCSEs because of it. And I only just scraped my way through my first college year because of it. I want to do well...No. I want to do great. I want to get into university, and it's time I put the work in.

I'm not gone forever though. I could be back in a month. I could be back in six. I don't know yet. All I know is that you've not seen the last of me. Whether that makes you happy or annoys you I don't particularly care.

I'm not going to give a long list of people I will miss because I don't want to bother anybody by missing them out, and I'll be back at some point anyway so it's not like I'm never going to speak to anyone again...But mainly I'll miss Systematic Chaos and a some other peoples.

It feels kinda weird cancelling my main account for the first time since I started playing towards the end of Beta. I have some good memories and some not so good memories.

I'm happy knowing I'm leaving Systematic Chaos in good and capable hands, and I'll be on our forums anyway (and this one if I can still post)...

=o. Some of you may remember this thread a while back, talking about extreme disrespect on this server, and how it's ruined a once great community. Well, here I am again. I invite your attention to this snippet of a conversation:

Now you've read that, the back story. 2 Machines enter a Zero One construct to find 7 Zionists, all of one faction (the names say it all). The two machines take out 3 of the Zions before one of them (myself) gets caught and killed by 3 of them. This chat then begins for 10 minutes. We both exchange words. They call me a tam (short for tampon...that may be censored), and various other things. They say they "powned" me. This was before I even opened my mouth.  Would gf not hurt? Obviously it would, because they completely disacknowledge that and continue the "pwned talk".

They told me to post this, because obviously they're proud of it, and hear it is. I wanted to post it all but the chat had cleared.

Now I know I'm not perfect when it comes to crap talking, and I have been known to, but jesus is it no wonder with scum like this around? I used to be friendly, but why the hell should I be when I get this crap? I've honestly said before that if it wasn't for my faction, and this being the only hostile server i'd move. This community has gone to complete and utter crap. I mean what is wrong with some of you people? These people! How can some of you put up with this crap? I don't know how I do it. Maybe it's that i can get revenge on them, and I know they know the truth even if they're too proud to admit it.

Now I know one of the replies I get will probably be age...so what? I'm definitely not the oldest on the server, but I don't act this *CENSORED*. Like I said i've been known to crap talk, but never this bad.

Earlier today, I was told and shown screens, of a level 50 who I'd killed whilst online saying things about me that did not pertain to the game. They were saying idiotic things like "I have no mother" etc etc.

Anyway, I'm not completely sure of the purpose of this thread. Maybe it's to vent. Maybe it's because I want some people's true opinions on this sort of disgusting attitude. Should I have ccr'd them? I don't know maybe I should, but they should atleast be allowed a chance to grow the hell up.

Now one more thing before I end the post, because I had this problem with the last thread. It is NOT an attack on an Organisation. It is NOT saying that only one org zergs, or behaves like this etc etc, because it isn't the case. It is NOT an attack on individual people. It's probably crap and I'll probably get called emo or something, but I don't care. It's 6am and I felt like it. Sue me.

Firstly, this is not a flame thread, or a thread bragging about achievements.

It is an oppurtunity.

In the past many of you have shown dislike for me, disrespect, anger, call it what you will. I've experienced most of them. Many of these times, it has been due to killing lowbies, or "ganking". Some people seem to consider this wrong, and mean, but I consider it to be merely a part of the game...

And here's where I get to the point. You lowbies and reds now have the chance to get your own back on me for my "sins". After being told I was hiding on my "alternate" characters, and lowbies, I made a choice. Firstly, let me note out of the characters I am levelling there are no alts, only characters suited for different purposes. They are as main as Oranos. My choice was to reach level 16 on all of my characters by today. I did so. I will be levelling these 5 characters together, and none of them shall be a much higher level than the other.

So 5 lowbies, all of them carrying the personality of the one who ganked you so long ago. 5 lowbies in which you have a chance to gank and kill just as I did so to you.

Prologue

My name is David Scott. To most I'm known as Mr. or Sir. Although I suspect I'm known as less respectful names behind my back. See, people don't particularly like me. I can't blame them. I'm ruthless. I'm cruel. I'm cold. But most of all, I'm rich. Jealousy is a powerful emotion. It drives people to many things, as does greed.

I am a powerful man. I run a successful company. The downside to this is that I have enemies. The upside to this is I have the power to "remove" them. It's nothing new. You look at any of those who are rich in the Megacity. They didn't earn all of their money legally. Take Kalt for example. Shady person. She's rarely seen on social occasions, and whatever she's doing can't be legal with all those guards of hers.

As I was saying, I'm a ruthless guy. It's been long since I had a good friend I could confide in. Now the only person I can trust is myself. I feel detached from everyone else, like they aren't real. I think all the money and isolation has deluded me. Whenever I see people now all I see are fake smiles hiding hate and hidden agendas.

One of the biggest illusions when you're a child is that when you are older you will have everything you need. Even some adults believe if they had enough money they would have everything they could ever want. This is wrong! Power is like a drug. Those who have some want more. You can never have enough money. You can never have enough possessions. You can never have enough power. And so I set my sights on a new possession. A beautiful and magnificent Chateau. Located in the mountains near Megacity. I'm sure I can "convince" its owner to part with it.
