I don't disagree. It just looks to me like Rare doesn't want data mining to be a significant way to level up.
And it shouldn't be. However, a little boost in XP would be not only convenient but beneficial. As dull as the standard missions are, it'd be nice to find a suitable alternative, albeit not necessarily a comparable one, to dreaded grind. Also, one can argue that the implementation of the XP amplifier could lend credence to the notion that Rarebit does wish to offer some form of XP compensation for anyone willing to commit time to the "art".
At level, I was maxing around 2,600 XP. I can get more for decompiling Enhanced clothing >_>
Lastly, Zero One parts do actually give both info and XP. As do Decaying Code, Chopper Keys and Demonhead Medallions.
garu seems to get my point..I'm not saying make it an easy way to level, but it's scaled far too low at the moment... like he said if you get more exp for decompiling a piece of clothing at the same level, what's the point of the exp?
Also the slight tweak could be made to apply to datamining anywhere in the game.I'm not saying make it the huge exp gain that 01 parts are..just something worth toying with for characters under 50.
The purpose of data miner seems to be to get $i quickly and easily, without having to fight. The only reason it'd be even marginally useful to lower levels is if they want a lot of extra $i. I mean, unless you actually did make data mining XP roughly equivalent to missioning, lower levels still wouldn't use it. No point - because the entire purpose of a lowbie's existence is to grind XP, to hell with getting $i, that will come later.
A marginal increase in XP won't affect data miner usage in any significant way until the point at which it becomes a viable way to level up, and like I said, I don't see the devs wanting that.
