we ned more hotbars, make a complete row at the bottom of the screen and one row on the side like in WoW

Hotbars a noob does not make. WoW does need to burn a little, but I feel it never will with Blizzard watching over it. Get it?....laugh, curse you....anyway, two is fine for me, I use the top one for combat abilities, and the bottom for the more general...stuff, like Tactics and Pills.

 

It's all in the management.

 

Though having the option for additional hotbars would be...nice...I guess....no clutter for me, extra options for you...yeah it works out....I suppose...

This is a good idea...

The question is does the game engine support dynamic interfaces? Basically would it be possible to code up an option screen for players to say they want 4 hotbars on the screen instead of 2?

If the engine can handle it I say we do it.

Yeah with all the buffs and stances even tho we have 2 of them now ... not nearly enough


what WOULD be a good idea tho is to link Speed , Power , Grab and Block back to WASD keys in IL tho so that we wouldnt have to keep them on the IL fight hotbar SMILEY

Optional hotbars would be really nice.  Perhaps some you could drag around so you can put them where you want.  Having the action panel works in a pinch but its clunky.

I thought about that when I was testing on QA, because I seriously miss having that but .. I would have to learn a new way of running around.  WASD keys are how I primarily run around.  If they changed it back the old way, instead of running around, I'd just be standing still.. changing tactics. 

Which would be funny.. but yeah..

Hey, instead of calling people names, etc why don't we do this. Make 10 hotbars visible with the ability to hide/resize/move them? So you who like 1 hotbar can have 1 hotbar, while someone like me, can have 10 hotbars. Let me worry about my own visibility SMILEY

Everyone saying 2 hotbars is fine and more would clutter the screen...well that's your opinion which you are entitled to. Having an option for the rest of us to add another 1 or 2 hotbars wouldn't hurt the ones that don't want it. It could be in the video or key mapping options, just a click and it adds another.

I'd love to have buffs have one bar to themselves, various out of combat techniques or something like Withdraw to be on another line, and in combat techniques on another. Personally I think it's more cluttered to have everything mushed together, to me more hotbars mean more room to make sure certain ability types aren't mashed inbetween techniques unrelated. It's all preference anyway, and while 2 is better than 1, an optional 3rd would be nice SMILEY.

Plus like someone else said, not all of us can think in the mid of battle about needing a buff and remember to hit Shift + whatever hotbar it happens to be on. Not that my memories bad, but I'd just rather have the ability to have it in front of my face than having to search for it because I didn't have the room to put it up.

In that game you could have up to 5 hotbars on screen at once, they were stacked ontop of each other, muchlike the 2hotbars we have now. What this shows is that even at lower resolutions they didnt take up much space, sure they take up more space at lower resolutions that at higher ones, but it should be the players choice to have that many or not. I rarely ever had all 5 open, but when i did it didnt really cripple my view or anything. And the MxO hotbars are pretty small compared to the ones in that game, so even better.

If they wanted to develop a way to add more hotbars could slap a scheme like that one onto thier test servers. to the lower left of the hotbars you'll see a triangle pointing down and a square one, the triangle removed all the hotbars except the main one at the bottom, and the square showed all hotbars, you'll also see the X on the left side of the hotbars, that let you turn off a hotbar if you didnt need it at the moment. Basically it was your choice of how many you want shown, and since they were unmoveable they were able to be designed to take up as little space as possible even with all of them open.

however as mentioned back in the QA days when many of us wer doing photoshopped UI's the devs said that will take alot of work to reprogramme the UI engine....

so dont get your hopes up.

i disagree with those who think you should have to scale back the number of items in your hotbars to fit 2 bars. i could easily use 5, though 4 and change is what i currently use. i use 2 hotbars per row to switch between all the items i find useful in combat. i take offense to the idea i should scale back and limit myself. i would like to add my extra hotbars vertically to the left edge and have them "hide" with a toggle key. i use one row for tactics and dmg resist buffs, one row for specials and more dmg resist buffs, couple tree buffs, one row for more tree buffs and extras like compel close combat, and another for clothing, pills and weird stuff like fly in amber. the 5th i would use for macros, moebius code and misc. but for now i just go one more hotbar down and hope i haven't messed up my timing in combat for the extra time taken to search for it.
