First off id like to say i feel for sonys first event this was a rather large success.

I Think the event ran alot more smoothly "at least for me" than the
past ones and i also think the masks were definitly a cool add on and
actuly gave us more of a reason to win.

One thing i think needs to change in the next event is the way that
system messages are broadcasted alot of our players have rep with
different orgs but are machinests and were receiving transmissions
based on their rep and not affiliation.

Not only does this alienate more RP oriented players but it has the
potential to give greifers especialy on a hostile server the
oppurtunity to crash events.

Another thing if possible i would like to see implemented is the
ability to keep players from casting passive abilities especialy
patcher AOEs at org meetings.

Although i am on a good computer and a good connection i even lagged a
bit when they were spamming those at Agent Paces event at avalon .

One thing i feel was a definiate trade mark to live events of the past
was the amount of un scripted player interaction that the team had with
players alot of us including me consider this the next matrix movie and
want nothing more than to have a few words with these new heros and
villians of the matrix.

Although from a control standpoint i can see ghosting LET people
because you were most likely being spammed with 100s of tells a minute
i feel this really alienates the RPers like myself from what we
considered the best part of the LETs of past.

There are alot of guilds in this game that have worked very hard to put
their org on the map and even build it to what it is today.

They deserve to have special recognition for this just like the people
who got the masks deserve to have it for getting the last hit on the
assassin.

I feel giving buffed items would be rather out of line and cause even
more issues of favoritism which we dont need but i feel having meetings
like in the past would definitly be in order to these groups that have
worked hard since the game was released in march.

Many of us play this game strictly for the story although i love PvP
and my guild this is definitly the biggest factor that keeps me playing
at this point in time being that in real life im a avid matrix fan and
memorbilia collecter. One thing i could suggest in the future is
definitly keeping detailed records of these events as well.

One of my guild members who goes by the name of Tetracleric was very
active in the matrix story and is a avid RPer such as myself he was one
of the few lucky people to have a personal meeting with the oracle many
meetings with flood and the merovingian and had dealings with the
cypherites ookami and more.

All of the records of his dealings with these charecters has been since
lost due to the fact that no LE records were transfered to sony after
the take over.

Although i would love to see the new team continue to recognize him for
his acomplishments at the shaper event as well as other ones i must say
thats an un realistic request.  What i can suggest for future
players to have a much more smooth experiance is for you guys to keep
records of what happens to actuly follow through with what you say in
rp for instance if a player establishes a connection to a charecter go
hunting npcs with them for a few moments RP it out stuff like this
means the world to alot of us although its a rather small and easy
thing to do.

Another thing would be to possibly better utilize mega city in your live events especialy in private meetings.

There are many interesting off the map areas of this game which im sure
your all aware of why not use these instead of teleporting the mask
bearers to a building in tabor park wouldnt a dojo be more suitable for
a charecter such as seraph?

This last thing i request i may come under alot of heat for but i feel it might be needed to run events more smoothly on vector.

Maybe we should consider disabling pvp in certian areas for the events
on the hostile server it would help them run alot more smoothly for us
and for the team and considering these events are not that long in
duration or in frequency i think it would be a rather small trade off
to have a succesful and fun event.

Anyways thanks sony for carrying on the LET alot of us apreciate the
work your putting into this and were looking forward for the next event.

Overall, I enjoyed the event...  I liked the way there was more than one assasin to hunt.  That helped with the areas not being so overcrowded.  However, as someone who plays a dedicated Patcher during events (Hey, someone has to keep the team alive) I do have to question the fairness of only rewarding the player who strikes the last blow.  If that is the case, a patcher would never have the oppurtunity to recieve a reward for their efforts.  (I was kept very busy rezzing little wadded up players that had been crushed by the assasin *grin* )  Giving a reward to the team that does the most damage seems like it would be more equitable.

This three day long event was interesting.

Corrupted

Spawning at player level was great. Except when they were left behind
to kill newbies. My patcher and I took on more L44-49 Corrupted than I
care to thnk about. The Corrupted should have timed out after awhile,
as the second problem (the first being newbie ganking), was there
tendency to find all the spots to get hung up and spike Server lag.

Decaying Code

This stuff was great. If had been stackable and tradable, it could have
plagued the matrix forever. PvP players would gravitate towards the
edge, whatever the risk. But without stacking we could only squirrel
away so much of it.

Decaying Code Fragments

Random, hard to piece together, boring, boring and boring. Those with
the strongest chance of sorting it out were the players who already
knew where the old haunts where anyway, who really didn't need the
fragments to go there.

Critical Missions

Were a great idea. Except they had nothing to do with the event
whatsoever. It's not like these require a great deal of real coding.
They should have been themed to sorting out the Assassin plot. Ya, know
use the critical missions to reveal the info, not just have Flood bark
it to us in system broadcast.

*Use a Mission Widget on Corrupt remains.

*Find out who attacked Ookami

*Get Insecticide

*Get Flit Gun

*Attack the Assassin (who splits and runs away, oh my, we still get to the live event!)

Live Event

The servers couldn't handle the load. People crashed and lagged so bad
they couldn't participate. Many others couldn't participate because of
a bug that prevented them from getting a Flit Gun. The most seriously
aggrieved are those who didn't want to participate, but couldn't play
the game because of the severe game-wide lag and constant attacks.

The Reward

The Fly in Amber will appease some, except those who will be robbed of
their reward again by a critical mission bug. Of course, the Masks are
vastly overpowered but in limited enough numbers that they will decay,
disappear, and be avoidable.

The Mobius Code is also neat, but won't be winning many battles. I use it to avoid having to rest as long after...whatever.

Well, I did enjoy chasing him around Mannsen, and I managed to get countless numbers of hits with my flit on him.  I didn't nab any screenies because I was more focused on keeping up with him even with all the lag.  And I only died twice, one I had to recon the other I managed to get a rez, and I'm proud that I only died twice SMILEY.  This was the good of it.

For the bad, other than lag, which I could handel, the huge crash, the area recompiling, then the inviso assassin.  I didn't mind not getting the mask, but I was extreamly upset that I did not even get to see the assasin get killed, mainly because he was invisable.  And he was killed 2 feet away from me, but on my screen there was nothing, nobody, and it was the same for half of my faction.

The Ugly, The way the live event was compleatly screwed up, great story, just, the way it was either ran or carried out, it was extreamly messy, I don't want to say it was unprofessional or anything, because I understand probably how hard the LET had to work to get the servers back up and then to manage them, and now how hard they are going to have to work to take care of all the screw ups.  I'm just dissappointed about how it all turned out...  I was extreamly devoted to this game, but now, I kind of feel like all this time I've been wasting my time.  I'm a big fan of the 3 strike theory, and this was just the second strike in my book, so, I'm going to just wait out and see what else is messed up, then maby I'll cancel my account.  If SOE can make a pretty decent recovery, and kind of make all those who feel kind of robbed, and crappy about it all, maby then they can redeem themselves.  I was, nothing short of furious after the little incident, and I just unplugged my computer and I had the hammer in hand.  Any ways, I'm still trying to vent all my anger and frustration out, so, SOE can do what they do best, and not pay any attention to it, and just ignore my opinion compleatly.

With Love,
Arandul

thanks for a wonderfull event.  The idea of rewarding people to participate wasent needed, but alas, you impressed.  A little more LET interaction would be good, and server lag to be toned down a notch.

Apart from that, jolly well done.

The event was well planned, thought out, and executed, but two things in my mind hindered it:

-The Lag - it was awfull, and lead to server crashes as you know.

-The times - I know its difficult to get it right, but im on vector,
and the assassins didn't show up till midnight, an hour after I was
able to jack into...althogh looking for him was fun, when we realised
he wasnt there and I resigned myself to not getting a peice of the
action, I felt somewhat dejected.

The good:

A whole lotta fum. Good clues. Good story and good chase. I had a great time this weekend and I know it's cause of all the hard work they made Walrus do...so thanks Walrus! You the Ma....uh whale horse!

The bad:

Lag

It's been this way in every event. Simple answer: Better servers and we know SOE's got em in a closet somewhere.

To SOE: It's an obvious issue. Every event has been like this and will be like this until you step up to the plate and throw some muscle into the hardware to help prevent server crashes.

Additonal suggestion:

Have three copies of Niobe, Flood and Agent Gray throughout  megacity. One of each in a different construct.  Sync them so they say the same thing at the same time. Both Recursion and Vector crashed after the Niobe speech (don't know about Syntax) so spread peeps out. If you have a Niobe in Downtown, International and Richland, for example, I will go Downtwon as a level 50 and others will be spread out too.

It was good that you did this with the Assassin, and there were still crashes (I bit it three times chasing the assassin and I am running P4 3.0 with 2mb LCache, 2 gigs Ram and NVidia 7800GTX 256mb GDDR, way above recommended specs), but the server didn't go down until you invited all of Zion to one location. So it makes sense to use the 'copies' for meetings too.

The Ugly:

The complaints....OMG as if it was the levy breaking. As soon as the event was over the forums are full of complaints by the havenots.

I swear there is a whole country full of peeps who just live to complain. "The mask is insanely buffed." "It's so unfair."  blah blah blah... "I want an event souvenir." "I pay gimme gimme gimme." blah blah blah ...

Of course peeps complained first, before the event was over, and then if they looked they found there is a souvenir to be had. Or maybe they are so into complaining that they'll be happily PO'd for a week and miss the souvenir they assumed they wouldn't get.

If you've played the game long enuff you will realize two things about the mask...

1) It has no purity and therefore can't be repaired. When/if (peeps are assuming it will decay...) it wears out it will be unusable and disappear, unless it has special (non-decaying) properties we don't know about (only time will tell). So those peeps who have the mask will have to use it sparingly and eventually will lose a wonderful souvenir. Most common use will be to show it off at parties, very cool, I look forward to seeing the look.

2) The buffs are very nice but it doesn't even come close to being an uber buffed item that will make a level 50 invincible. It is simply an awesome piece for those lucky enough to get the killing blow on the Assassin aspects. Again think about it. PvP is gankville. The mask will not prevent ganking, it will encourage it when seen in PvP, LOL. Dying promotes decay of all equiped items. Use the mask in PvP and it will wear faster than any other use.

Suggestion: If/when it wears out, the mask should lose it's buffs but remain forever as a wearable souvenir. It would be a shame if the souvenir were to truly disappear forever...

BTW, if you are newer than the game, I've been playing since release and I have stuff you can't get either (beta players have stuff I can't get)...the mask is not the first or last item like this.

And yes, killing blow isa lotta luck (but it is not ALL luck). Enuff feedback on that already. I hope to see other methods used in the future.

For this event, kudos to all who came up with the mask. Well done. Right place, right time, right thing done. Take no credit away from that.

I have yet to hear of someone who logged in, stepped out of the HL and layed one hit on the Assassin to walk away with the mask. Maybe it happened. I seriously doubt it though.

In summary, good event Walrus (info leak in hindsight was embarrasing but not an issue and I am far from perfect too so apology more than accepted, all class you are...).

SOE you can make this even better,  just ask Walrus what to do and make it so. It's the least you can do if you're gonna make the mighty whale horse do it all.

Community, it's ultimately up to us to enjoy what we have and the community factor is still one of the best aspects of this game...if you're just looking to complain then go for it all you want but don't expect me to have any sympathy for those who complain about something they willfully pay for (threats to quit are bottom-of-the-barrel, you're still here...you can only make your point by actually quitting). You just sound really silly...learn to provide constructive criticism and put your posts in the right place (like right here). Your feedback will go a lot further.

All you had to do was wait until the event was over for your opinion to be asked.

You didn't think Walrus cared???

Cheers to all.

See ya all on the inside

why does vector always go last with the LET?
this also happened on Enumerator as well...we were always the very last to get anything happening, can't you guys mix it up a bit?

The good:

-Seeing a Live event. It brought some excitement back, made us feel like people actually were writing content for this game.

-the thought that into this event was good as far as scripts and such. it was very clever, and the cinematics were a nice touch. It is worth it to have a longer wait between events if they various aspects of it are tied so nicely.

the bad:

-people who feel the need to prove their idiocy by saying inane things during org meetings. Frankly, SOE employees need to be there during those and morons who screw things up should instantly get sent to the white room.

-feeling powerless, knowing that no matter what you do or what precautions you take...that you're probably gonna get lagged out.

-SOE missing an opportunity to recapture players on the fence, or other lost players. An event that didn't end in a lag-induced scream fest would have enticed people back. Instead, I fear a lot of players will only come away from this event thinking it was the S.O.S. they endured before.

the ugly:

-LAG LAG LAG!! It is unacceptable. Lag has been the killer in each and every event we've had. I thought this event was very well presented, but really it was near impossible to move.

-Crashes

-Major reward being given to the person lucky enough to get the last hit in. I understand themotives of doing this...it gives the casual player a chance to really get lucky...and I can live with that..as long as I have a fair shot too... the lag and crashes make any sort of strategy moot...

I applaud you, SOE, a good event. I liked this..it had more content and was much better run. An event will NEVER be a success, however, until the lag/crash issues are solved.

Well, for me this was near the bottom of the pile of live events for a number of reasons.

The event dates were not advertised in advance, so making plans to get out of work wasn't possible.  I was online before I went into work and there was nothing particularly exciting going on (I got to kill some corrupted and got the flit gun which I had/have no use for).   I stopped home on break Sunday afternoon and log on (around 5:15 cst) only to find out the event is over, and I can get some cake (small consollation).

Over the course of the weekend I was on for a total of maybe 8-10 hours and saw no LET members and didn't see the assassin once (and I was stalking his haunts).  The people who read the leak also had inside knowledge of where he was going to be, and the rest of us didn't, though through the forums I had a pretty good idea.  Anyhow, the frag puzzle which would have been the main thing I could have participated in (due to being at work during the entire time of any LET interation) was pretty much a moot issue due to the leak  (except if I could have decyphered where the HL to the barge was).

So yeah, all in all, I give this event an F (at best a D-, because at least there was an event that moved the stagnant story forward some more).  A lot due to my disappointment in feeling left out (due to the dates and schedule being kept under lock and key).  Also the rewards for those 12 people seems rediculous (the buffs anyway).  And it seems this fly in amber only has the effect of taking 400 of my health, unless I'm missing something?

I liked the event but it started earlier than I thought so I missed a lot of it. I always thought the assassin was a cool character. The crashes in the meetings were bad I couldn't even get into the meeting there was a brick wall then i ended getting stuck in the wall so i had to suicide but overall I enjoyed the event keep up the good work LET

well my main role of my part in the killing of the assassin was playing the part of patchers, rezer, and health refeeler, didnt really want to go for the assassin mask cause we needed rezers, and the way of getting them was not a fair way of doing it, I'll talk more on how i feel about that later.  I enjjoyed the part of there finally being event thugs to kill, unfortunatly they did not give you anything so you can turn into the zion, machiens, and merv collectors.   When i run by these collectors it like they are lauging at me saying , HA,HA, you can never get our items again, YOU should have gotten them all during the morpheus event, HA, HA.  I wish they would put thugs in the next live event that gave you stuff again so you can get these items, why do we even have the collectors still if you cant get anything.  SOny did a good job, on finally putting something in a live evnet were people could partisipate in it.  THe corupt were spawing everywere, which was cool.  I enjoyed getting to see niobe more times in 2 days that i have seen in almost the whole time ive been playing.

NOW, about the bad.   Sony i have been with this game since the prerelease.  I was the first person in the game when the servers went up on the prejack in, I know cause when the servers came up, i jacked in imedetely, and then a message came up saying:  congratulations you are the first person to jack into the matrix online(or something along those lines).  I have been with this game through the troubles and joy, but sony even thought we got to see the oracle and niobe  and kill one of the assassin, me and everyone else could not finish listening to their speach, or finish killing the assassin  cause the server crashed on each meeting and attempted killing.  i was in recursion and while trying to kill the assassin, the server crashed 2 or 3 times before we could kill him.  All that work that we took on taking away his life was of no use , cause when we finally were able to jack back in his life was back to full health.   the amount of crashing was to much.  I didnt even crash once while we were killing the ultimate corupt.   then after we finally killed him, i was looking forward to the job well done speach from niobe,  to feel the satisfaction, but yet again, crash.  I must say that i felt a feeling of not really accomplishing much do to the fact of the major crashing.  Then after getting back on, i lost my faction name, as well as most of all the zion factions.   who had time to enjoy anything with all the buggs.  Most people wernt even really sure if the assassin was finally dead cause of all the problems.

now last, you must remeber i played the role of a patcher so i wasnt going for the special mask, but why sony did you give it to the person that did the last hit, instead of the most damage.  All anyone had to do was just wait till his life was almost gone, run in, then get the last hit.   You forgot about all the people that worked , and died many times to get his life down to begin with, and they left without nothing.

So inconclusion , sony i have been throught this game for a while,  i have to say that i did enjoy this event, and i would say that it was the best if not for the problems.   I look forward to the next event thought, and hope you are able to fix the issues that we delt with on this one, and please in the future have the way of getting the rare item, change to who does most damage, and not last hit.  I feel sorry for all those who truly worked on killing him, and doing alot of damage,  and then got nothing.  ANd who would those people be?? the people that i was rezing.  please sony, learn from the mistakes on this one and work torward making the next one a blow out success.  I feel i can say these things cause of my senority in this game, so please take note of these things.

SHould make it so that people cant stand in the area of effect to cause people to flag up.

On Recursion Mervs and Machines would stand around the corrputed and wait for a Zion to use stun 2.0/Devistation field(area effect attack) and then they would all gank the hell out of him and its not like he had a choice to not flag up when their are 10 merv/machines all hot and bored waiting to kill red.

Should make it so you only got pvp when you hit /pvp sot hat way you have total control.(Exception would be if you heal/buff someone who is Hot)

The Good

1.  Flit Gun.  A weapon that damaged the Assassin no matter
what level a player was.  Lower level players could get in a few
shots and contribute to the event.  Very good idea.  I
remember what it was like being a low-level during an event, not being
able to contribute much to the cause.

2.  Splitting the Assassin into four separate entities.  Kept
the entire population of the server from showing up in one area,
reducing the stress on the server.  It probably saved some players
from crippling lag, but didn't prevent server crashes (at least on
Recursion)

The Bad

1.  Server crashes.  A few areas of Recursion timed out
during the battles and afterward at the Zion meeting with Niobe, making
it near impossible for some players to participate in the event.

The Ugly

1.  The Assassin.  Toilet Face was a compliment  :smileywink:
