um, ever heard of howitzer?

10 people using howie can go to mara c and clean out the mass of reds to. So I fail to see the logic of your post based upon the fact we already have a powerful AOE based class in the game.

More than that, for hand throwing grenades, thoes animations are already in game... flash bang/smoke grenade. Game already has the targeting system in place for grenades as well. It would probably be a pretty easy addition.

and as for the artwork and what not needed, your wrong about that, it already exists.

but you have to be Howitzer to use AOE attacks, you arn't going to get a Grenadier tree because and I will make this very obvious for you

WE AIN'T GETTING NEW TREE'S!

if it's a consumable then it will be that every class can use it, meaning that every build has an AOE attack, which wasn't meant to happen

Yeah, new trees are improbable but it doesn't hurt to bring up the idea, ya never know what they might jot down for future reference, heh.

But in the mean time, i think the best option is to think about the above, as long as it was balanced nicely some grenade consumable tool use abilities would be total sweet and we all know it - besides, all the other matrix games have em! =P

And solider should have some sort of tool use abilities, hackers and spies get tools so should we, lol.

iDea!

to stop people spamming nades to have a portable AOE tree, why not limit them? i.e only 1, 2, or maybe 3 at once, then you won't have endless crowds spamming nades SMILEY

(we don't want this game turning into BF2 SMILEY )

um, did I suggest the idea of a new tree? No.... I said it should be a consumable based weapon. And your right, if it was a consumable based weapon, then everyone could infact use it. But here's the catch, you can make it so to code up a stack of just 5 grenades would take over 5 red frags, that would make them so you dont want to waste em if you had em, and thus not every one would even have them, not to mention, if the damage is only around 500 ish, and it has the same length to cast as a dev field, it has limited potential.

your arguments at this point are pointless at best, we already have an AOE class thus invalidating your "10 people could throw nades into mara and clear out a mass of reds" theory. And with correct dps, cast timer, and cost, balancing them would be quite easy.

Yup, combined with having them use a tool use ability ala DM it'd balance things out even nicer.

Like Anx said, its all just a matter of balancing varibles and timers.

- Animation, check
- Target System, check
- In-game Icon, check
- Explosion SFX, check


Mhm... a consumable, that'd be cool. Damage type should be ballistic since it's a grenade after all. I think it should not do much damage itself but has on top of that a slight DOT effect so that the grenade mimics a splinter grenade (initial damage from the (normally) 10000 granulates, then damage from wounds). Also a appropiately large user timer is needed so that we don't get a dozen guys spamming nades around the place.

Although a grenadier tree (Like the post a few up) is an awsome idea, it's not gonna happen. For months people have asked for sword trees/zen tree/trojan hacker and all that, and it hasn't happened. However, using the existing resources already implmented, it would be pretty faesible.
