Gameplay Discussion Missions and Storyline What is the type of Fly the Assassin had? What is the type of Fly the Assassin had? GoDGiVeR 0 05/01/2009 09:26

Well, just as the title says, I think it's been mentioned somewhere in the archieves, what type of fly (the technical term) was the Assassin made of?

Development Discussion Development Roundtable Meson -> Stable Meson trade-in at Binary Boy Meson -> Stable Meson trade-in at Binary Boy GoDGiVeR 0 02/07/2009 11:32

I remember discussing about decreasing the decay-rate of Meson Rifles before, but got waved off for various reasons. One of the reasons was "Mesons aren't supposed to be in the Matrix". True that, but heck, we got people using hacks in broad daylight and hacks are supposedly not visible to blues (at least not as how we see them), so I wonder how blues feel when somebody dies or gets injured from hacks. So IMO the "non-matrixy" argument holds no value.

So anyways, since I know Rare doesn't want to decrease the decay rate on the dropped items in 10 and 01 I propose this:

Collector Binary Boy:

2x Light Meson Rifle MK I -> 1x Enhanced Light Meson Rifle MK I ( additonally: normal decay rate, 1% ball acc)

5x Meson Rifle MK I -> 1x Enhanced Meson Rifle MK I ( additonally: normal decay rate, 2% ball acc)

5x Light Meson Rifle MK II -> 1x Enhanced Light Meson Rifle MK II ( additonally: normal decay rate, 2 or 3% ball acc)

10x Meson Rifle MK II -> 1x Enhanced Meson Rifle MK II ( additonally: normal decay rate, 3 or 4% ball acc)

Also, I write this up because I got reminded about it once again due to a Heavy Meson MK II dropping from the 01 TM today when I farmed him with cookie. Boss drops should be useful, so the Heavy MK I and Heavy MK II should also have normal decay >_< (Maybe trade in 2 for an enhanced version like above with normal decay? The Heavy MK II has a drop rate of 1 / 120 so farming the MK II two times is rather harsh anyways, so it's also kinda fair?)

Gameplay Discussion Missions and Storyline EJP - The fatal flaw in the system? EJP - The fatal flaw in the system? GoDGiVeR 0 01/19/2009 10:33

What is EJP? How does it work?

I've thought about those question long and hard, even worked out several concepts inolving network strategies, "RSI buffering", firewalls, "RSI-cloning", etc. but sadly never came around to write them down anywhere. However over the last few month those questions have changed, the concepts of "how" suddenly stopped having a meaning in constrast to the much more substantial question "why"?

Why does EJP exist? And more importantly: Why does the concept of the EJP not affect us at all?

Naturally the first answer to those questions is "because it's a game; if we died so easily just after 10 minutes into the game why begin anew?" That answer has always satisfied us, though some have indeed thought about it more than that, found the problem behind the concept: Immortalism, god complex.

Of course the EJP is meant to make us immortal, making a new character after each death has no meaning in an MMORPG ... and yet that is also the fatal flaw in the system, of the whole storyline up to now, of each and every choice we, the players, have made. The EJP is something every roleplayer has seen as a hindrance to roleplaying at some point, even if they more or less successfully included the concept into their roleplay the most fundamental effects have been mostly ignored.

I don't say that I've considered everything the EJP involves, most likely many things I'm going to mention next could be considered complete bull****, but even so, I write this so that you may reflect upon what I say and add your own experience (no flaming plz T_T). Naturally I try to consider all things from a roleplaying point of view,  but inevitably I will include game mechanics and the decision made by the devs because this is ultimately what defines the very basis of our roleplay, our very game.

Mhm ... where to begin. I'd say to understand the flaw we need to understand the consequences of the EJP on both body and soul. Even though nobody knows how EJP works, it is however more or less generally excepted that each and every virtual death we experience is preceded and followed by a near-death experience that does affect our psyche and thus transcends the security of the EJP, even if it's only for a short while.

Generally we could say from the standpoint we've had up to now that the more you die, the less you'll be affected by it. Seasoned operatives no longer "fear death" (nobody wants to die, but even if we did, it wouldn't matter, we'd be "knocked out" for a few minutes and that's all). That experience is what drives all of us and our decisions. That lack of ... can we call it "sense of self-preservation"? ... lets us consider making decisions and actions normally any normal human being would consider suicide, crazy. Most situations, even in times of peace, can easily end up in a massacre with no real losses on either sides, except for those in between, the very people we swore to dedicate our lives to.

How can we possible decide the future of those who are affected by our actions, if we gradually lose the connection we have with them? In the end our fake immortality granted to us by the EJP makes us develop a god complex, where all who others a mere cattle. I'm sure most of you disagree about this, but that's where I believe that you are wrong. No matter how much we try to relate to those people (namely bluepills primarily), in the end their death remains only of little importance to us. Sure their death affects us, however the effect is much smaller than what it would be if we really would give our lives to them but we cannot. How can we dedicate our lives to them if we are immortal, if they are like ants, living and dieing, while we are the little boys and girls with the magnifieing glasses watching them from above? There is no threat to our lives, we are save, they die, we continue.

Heh, I know what you're thinking right now, (most) probably (not). Right about now I try to reflect upon what I said up until now and try to make sure I myself know what I was thinking what I wrote there, if I myself understand it. I'm bad at expressing my thoughts, but I guess replies will uncover the many errors I made up until now and till the end of this.

In any case, back to the "I know what you're thinking right now" part. There is one more thing to consider and that is "the Real". "The Real" is yet another topic of importance to the EJP. We may be immortal in the Matrix, but not so in the Real. We die in the Real, we really die. Sadly this is another limitation given to us by the game. The Real does not exist, what happens there mostly out of our hands (there are a few occasions where we did affect it, yes). Exactly because of this the factor of mortality in the real is of no importance to us. How believable can we display it anyways? There are and were many roleplays that included actions in the real, even LEs and cinematics, crucial parts of the story-line. Ultimately that doesn't change anything, sadly.

Which is why because of this inability to reflect of what happens in this other world, the Real, where each and every one of our actions would have much more live-crucial outcomes, that the storyline has begun to take turns to the worst. The Real is static and nobody can or should be allowed to change it and yet this static enviroment, if changed, would need to affect our very personalities, our very actions. Peace, the enviroment in which nothing happens, in which nothing affects us in the Matrix, the world we practically dedicated our lives to, to preserve that peace, has been changed. A simple action, a declaration of war, which inevitably needs to affect both worlds, ours and the static one, couldn't possibly affect either in the end. How can we be in a state of turmoil, life and death, if we can't do anything about it? Even in the Matrix a state of war is impossible, wether it be done through story-line or game mechanics. This game is not made for war, it's made for peace. Nobody of us has changed, how can we?

What does this have to do with the EJP? Without the possiblity of our very own death, especially ones not decided by our own, which is the only possible decision any of us choose in roleplay, but by outside forces, none of our actions have any affect (with the exception of a few very lucky or talented roleplayers). Otherwise the declaration of war would have affected us, because the probability that we will be killed would be extreme, just like in the movies and that change would have also affected on how we see the other world purely depicted by roleplay and some story-line aspects, the Real. But that is a thing impossible for an MMORPG. The very thing that is so crucial to the game is the fatal weakness of the roleplay and storyline we love.

We can't change the fact, but there is one thing that we could have done from the very beginning. Actually no, not we, but the makers of this game and the universe we play in: A detailed description for both role- and non-roleplayers for all things that I have mentioned up to now. What is the EJP? How does it work? How does it affect our bodies, RSI and especially the very psyche of those using it in both short- and longterms. How, for a realistic display of roleplay, should it affect us? What is the real? How can we possible include it into our roleplay and therefore what are dos and don'ts? There are so many other questions that still linger around that wait to be answered. All of those questions may have at some point been explained individually by someone somewhere, but there is no generally acceptable basis. Although I do blame the devs and such for this, I'm being incredibly idealistic here.

All those questions are so very essential to our very lives in the Matrix, yet all of them stay unanswered. All those actions, decisions, choices we made were made purely from a standpoint we decided for ourselves, without broad knowledge of the actual facts, which for all we know don't exist. After all we decided for ourselves what the Matrix is within in the limitations of what was given to us and yet nowadays I can't help but think that it's no longer a Matrix related to the one we loved so much, a realisation that took 3 years, and which is somewhat painful.

I actually wanted to include my very own description of how the EJP affects our bodies and psyche, where the limitations of RSI reconstruction lie and how we should have behaved, if we really wanted to include a basis of knowledge that is acceptable for the community and can be used for active roleplay. To be honest, right now I'm a little exhausted, it's been some time I have written something like this and the whole text is so very "me" (plus I don't think I could have done it very well anyways, much like this very text); incoherent, made up of words that sometimes make no sense in the context they were put in, I admit I'm bad at this, but I think it's something that has to be said by someone at some point, even though I guess ... it's nearly 3 and a half years too late.

For anyone who doesn't know what that is, a screenie from Roukan:

Now, what do I want? Make it into a simple item, because right now it's a luggable. That poses one BIG problem: It disappears after server restarts. It doesn't matter to me that you'll be perma-flagged and traceable, but that it disappears after a server-restart DOES bother me. Why? You can only get the recipe and the frags from the frigging hardest NPC spawn in the whole game. Two whole teams and there's still so much that can go very very wrong. That is such a cool item, but it being a luggable that disappears over time makes it rather useless to code, losing it to someone else is a secondary problem since you could just steal it back.

Development Discussion Development Roundtable Boss and Normal Type Simulacra Boss and Normal Type Simulacra GoDGiVeR 0 12/30/2007 07:30
I've wondered today after farming the TM with Sims why we only got Veteran type Simulacra (2 Chevrons). Of course there are many other issues with sims, but I think that would be a neat addition:

In a box appearing when making a sim you can decide which chevron type it will be (Normal 1 Chevron, Veteran 2 Chevron, Boss 3 Chevron) (also this would be the box where you can decide what LO the sim will have (standard NPC LOs or individual ones (using /loadlos?) and what lvl it will be). The execution time of making the sim will take according to how many Chevrons it will have. So a Boss Chevron will take quite long to make, while a Normal one will be quickly done.

Another reason why I'm suggesting this is, because different chevrons act different when it comes to how often they use abilities.

... and to be honest, soloing the TM with sims takes much time if the sim isn't willing to do many abilities. Also 2 Chevron (Sim) vs 3 Chevron (TM) makes it even more difficult =/

Edit: Simulacra *doh*

The Doctors Coats are a different model from what I've seen, they're shorter than the long ones (e.g. Raynold) and longer than the shorts ones (e.g. Jayne Half-Duster). Also, the appearance is different. They "stick" more to the body rather than be stiff and stay away from the body (the end of the coat that is).

I guess they're only available for 1 male body type, though. If I'm wrong (I hope so), can we have them somewhen, in gray (the blood stains are fine to me)? SMILEY

Community Redpill Rescue Gunmans guide to solo Gargoyle - Widows Moore Edition Gunmans guide to solo Gargoyle - Widows Moore Edition GoDGiVeR 0 09/26/2007 11:29
For the Ashencourt Gargoyle, check out the Gunmans guide to solo Gargoyle in Ashencourt.

Unlike the guide for Ashencourt though, this guide will also work very well for Matial Arts (ignore step 2).

Ok, step 1: The right clothing

As you will see later in the guide, the appropriate clothing is rather important. Unlike as for e.g. Tengu in Yuki, you don't need clothing for resistance. The deal are "IS regeneration rate %" clothing.

That Clothing for up to lvl 45 are (if some are not in this list, I'm sorry, can't remember all clothing from top of my head =/ ):
- Pecks Shirt (Pillsen)
- Sakura Bandana [Male] / Mask [Female] (Sakura Construct)
- System Shades (Machine Investigator all over town, e.g. Mara c)
- Widows Moore Shades (Widows Moore Construct, hey wait a sec, yeah it's true, you get those by killing the boss this guide is written for)
- Headless Glasses (Outside Uriah Hideout)

Those clothing will help your IS regeneration greatly and thus enable you to deal more damage in a short time, but most of these clothings have not much or no resistance. But resistance isn't so necessary for this boss ^^

One thing though: Don't mix "IS regeneration rate %" up with "IS regenration rate BONUS %", since the second one does nothing right now. It's (to use the comparison of 9mmfu) a turbocharger with no engine (abilities, etc. that use that bonus are non-existant).

Step 2: Loadout

To deal out maximum damage, I decided to load a Scattershot / Gunslinger load. It involves the sidekicks: Full Auto, Controlled Burst, Pistol Barrage and Pistol Whip. The side kicks Controlled Burst and Pistol Barrage will enable us to do more consecutive ability rows, while Full Auto and Pistol Whip are big damage dealers if stated. In case of off-balance I just use Pistol Slide, I didn't bother loading Dual Point Blank because I hardly do Off-Balance in the way I deal with Gargoyle. I also have Rifle style loaded, see 2.1. why.

Step 2.1.: Weapons

If you're lvl 45, use weapons of that level to deal damage. It is not necessary to use Bedlams or Clamors when you are lvl 45. Though the additional 1pt of damage of lvl 45 weapons to lvl 40 weaponery isn't so notworthy.

What you should really have in your inventory though is the "Victory Rifle". It's the Collector item from Center Park, requires lvl 40 and has a 15% chance to Stagger. This weapon is excellent for any player, wether he uses Martial Arts, Guns or even Spy. I use that weapon OoIL (Out of Interlock) with Power tactic to bring the boss into Stagger and then do a state special (in my case it's Full Auto).

Step 3: Killing the Boss

Like in Ashencourt, this Gargoyle also follows a pattern. While the one in Ashencourt showed to be very vulnerable OoIL, this one is very vulnerable in IL (Interlock). Here is the general pattern as it is followed by the NPCs in Widows Moore:

1. Interlocking
2. "Nothing". This phase is important as we will later see.
3. Withdrawing
4. Interlocking: Note that the NPCs will try to IL you again without any pause in between. Your evade won't hold out against that too long
5. See 2.

The Gargoyle follows this pattern even more than his followship. If you experience that pattern you will notice that you will hardly be able to do normal attacks to him. So, how to deal with him then?

Note: You will quickly notice that the Gargoyle is, in contrast to the one in Ashencourt, a Rifleman. Staying OoIL and fighting him is not too wise, because he can deal out major damage here, but it's necessary if you want to state him for big damage attacks.

1. When you first encounter him, try to state him and stay out of IL range so he can't break your shield. It's the same as for the Ashencourt Gargoyle: Take the initiative, don't let HIM IL you, rather you IL him first. Although he deals out much damage OoIL, the short time required to do "Stagger" to him using Power and the Victory Rifle (see 2.1.) is worth the damage received.

2. This is the most important part. As soon as you interlock him he will try to withdraw. But in contrast to normal withdrawing, the process here is kinda bugged. You will notice that he tries to withdraw as soon as you see Phase 2 of his pattern (see above). "Nothing" means that you will see that nothing happens (logical eh?). After 2-4 seconds of nothingness he withdraws and immediately ILs you again. To prevent him from withdrawing use an ability! Abilities used in that Phase will to a very high chance succeed! So use power to damage him!

3. Now there are some important things to consider: Everytime he is in the 2nd Phase you have to use an ability to deal out damage. The only other way to deal damage to him is to use OoIL attacks (not recommended for a long period). After you used an ability in that Phase he will continue to be in that Phase until two things happen:

3.1. You pressed the ability too late / early and he will withdraw and take the IS queued with him.
3.2. You go into Block tactic. This is noteworthy because as soon as you block he will not withdraw and he will RARELY hit you with his now normal attacks. A great way to keep him in IL and to regen your IS, eh?

After queuing an ability to use the 2nd Phase against him it is important that you either immediately (after the ability gets accepted or fails) queue another ability or you wait till the animation of the ability is completed and goes into the Phase again. If you time the abilities at the wrong time, he will withdraw (3.1.).

4.
Now that you know how to deal damage to him using the 2nd Phase of his pattern there are two things that happen when he withdraws:

4.1. He will try to IL you immediately (no IL button and Ranged Attack button available to use). If you don't have an Evade active, this can't be avoided and he got you in IL again.
4.2.
He will try to IL you immediately too, BUT your IL button and Ranged Attack button are AVAILABLE. This means while he still is in the withdraw animation you can already move around! I suggest you don't try the IL button since he is most of the time still faster than you. I suggest you backpeddle a few meters and use ranged attacks to state him, then IL him first if you can. You can even try to activate your Evade again!  From this on you can go back to 1 and repeat. ^_^

Tip for stating the Gargoyle:

You can hardly do any normal attacks against him and thus you won't be able to use your strongest attacks! The best way to state him is OoIL. You get the chance to attack him OoIL if you view 1 or 4.2.
But here is the tip: Not only abilities to damage him will go through at the 2nd Phase! If you press withdraw in the right moment you will withdraw normally and be invulnerable to be ILed for 4 seconds (like normal)! In that time you can range attack him or build up your Evade!

I hope this helps you guys. I take no warranty for the use of appropriate grammar and / or word order or the correct use of the english language at all ^_^

Syntax Next Renaissance - Syntax The two-lock door of Neo The two-lock door of Neo GoDGiVeR 0 09/02/2007 08:11
"I can only show you the door. You're the one that has to walk through it." - Morpheus

And Neo showed us a door. A door with 2 locks. The key for each lock already exist, too. So why won't we go through it?

The 3 organisations:

Zion tries fanatically to open the door by themselves, trying to use their key on the second lock, assuming that it will work in the first lock.
The Machines cross their arms and would rather not go through the door. If it needs to, they'll remove Zion, the door, even the complete path to the door, especially if Zion keeps working on.
The Merovingian holds no key. It's not like he doesn't want to know what's behind it, especially if it's more power for himself, but as being said, he holds no key, he holds no power. That is why he works to find his own way through the door. Not for the sake of what lies behind, but for the power.

The two keys:

Zions key: The Zion operatives. While trying to work for the good of humanity, they see that the Machines are necessary for a better future. Unfortunately, they still try to push forward to open the door themselves, hoping that maybe they don't need the Machines after all.
The Machines key: The Machinists. While trying to prove themselves that they are trustworthy, they try, at the same time, to show that the whole of humanity can work together with the Machines.  It is in their belief that they, as a key, work for both locks. That is why they slowly drift away from the rest of humanity, a failure of understanding. The only sacrifice they will ever accept is a human one, not one of the Machines.

The Merovingian operatives:

While some stand by the side of the Merovingian, hungry for power, there are others, those that think for themselves, those that have tried to help the other organisations. They were the first to see that it will not work the way it goes. That is why they support the Merovingian in the making of a new way through the door, in the hope that some will face a greater future.

What lies behind this new door? I cannot say but I belief, if we make it through the door together, with both keys in the correct lock, whatever we face behind the door, we are ready.

Health Regen Rate (15%)
Min Level 24

Panacea (Shirt)
Heals: (15% Chance) Healing H.P.S. 100 to 200
Min Level 30

I'll be frank: Those three items are utterly and completely useless, independant which lvl your character is. There are some reasons for that:
1. They have no resistances.
2. When they heal, they heal so few HP that the damage received in comparison is way too much.
3. The actual healing chance is NOT what the stats on the shirts say.

@3.: I asked 9mmfu why those three items activate so rarely in comparison to the Tiger Masters GI (which has >70% chance of activation). The reason is simple:

If you wear a full set of clothing, you have 7 clothes on. When you get hit, it is FIRST calculated WHICH CLOTHE is hit. That means you have a 1/7 (~14,2%) chance that the item that has an activation will be activated. Now, if the item is hit there are 2 things done: The item can loose stability and if it has a special activation ability, it may activate with the given chance.

Now let's view that with those 3 items:

Ghost shirt has 25% chance activation. With a full set of clothing that is: 1 / 7 * 1 / 4 = 1 / 28 = 3,5 % chance of activation
Panacea and Mothers Coat have both 15% chance of activation. With a full set of clothing that is: 1 / 7 * 3 / 20 = 2,1% chance of activation

Now, even if you combine either Ghost Shirt and Mothers Coat or Panacea with Mothers Coat, the chance that one of them activates doesn't exceed 6%. The damage you received in the meantime and the lack of resistance make these items completely useless.

I know that there are so many "useless" collector items out there, but at least most of them have some reasonable stats compared to the level when you can wear or use them. But these 3 items are useless regardless of level.

I'd like to see these three items changed, reasonably of course. Any ideas?

Before the agent who stood in the foreground could say anything Godgiver held out his hand, signalling silence. Weird enough, the agent closed his mouth again. "Sooo one week ago...?" Godgiver said questioningly. The agent nodded. "The fact that I have not yet been killed is the reason that you suits are here. I knew something was wrong since last week. What did you do?"
The Agent in the foreground answered: "Two weeks ago your hold in this system has been broken. Although you eluded us within our own system for two and half years, our increase in efficiency could not be stopped. We located your position and removed any presence you had outside your -domain-, as you call it, according to your logs."
Godgiver shrunk in his chair and turned around facing the screens. For a few moments nothing happen, then he broke the silence again: "So as far as I can understand, you broke through my multilayer-feedback-EJP data system," a system he was proud of and he didn't think that they would break through it so soon, but well, he guesses the war-status increased the productivity," just to put me to sleep one week and analysize all the data I gathered? I expected you to kill me after you do that, though. As Agent Gray would say, there was a 95.45% chance that this would happen. But still, you let me go around my usual businees for a whole week, then come back in to do... what?" Godgiver turned around again and glanced at the agent before him.

"I am Agent Jones. 10 month after your first jack in from this pod into the Matrix, I was assigned to study and gather information about you. Unfortunately you turned out to be quite eluding and creative to avoid any contact. Half a year later I was assigned to capture you and if necessary, remove you from the simulation. It was fruitless. But then an exile program turned over some information that helped us understand where you are operating from."
"IDeca," Godgiver said, "is that exile, no?"
"Yes. However, even with the information at hand and through increased effort it forced you improve your own security drastically, which ultimately led you to develop this marvellous robust data system."
"Get to the point. As I said, I expected me to be dead, so why am I alive still? I meddled around in other peoples memories, although that was temporary outside allocated memory, changed the software in some few hundred pods for my data sytem and hijacked data directly from the 'recycle bin'. If I ever get caught, I thought, I'd have a maximum of four choices at hand."
"You do not, however, in my function I would like to hear these choices."
"One: You'd kill me directly in my pod through whatever means possible. Two: You would reinsert me, since that would 'only' need a memory wipe. Three: You'd flood me out of the pod, which was the most unlikely option. And finally four: You'd propose an offer to join your side.
Of course, it seems that option one to three haven't yet occured, I guess your presence leads to option four."
"Very well. I have ..," the Agent started but Godgiver interrupted:"...have you analysed all the data I have?"
The Agent looked puzzled for a second because of the interruption but continued as usual: "The data you gathered involves 23 dead samples of an unknown type of viral code, analysis programs, the logs, construct files, various programs as well as an active quarantine field."
"I guess the latter must have shocked you, heh?"
"It was a .. surprise to see what lay in this quarantine field. But after cross-referencing the data within the field with our historical databanks, we could finally fully understand what happened at your ... awakening."
"What's his name? I never found out."
"It was a former version of Agent Parker. It seems that through the simultaneous error in the pods medical system the RSI takeover that took place was quite .. incomplete. Taking from the logs it seems that it had some quite interesting side-effects on your -psyche- and your RSI."
"That's what the quarantine was created for. This left arm you see here is nothing else than a visual copy, controlled by the left side of the brain. It was hard to .. work with it at first."
"I see."

Godgiver sighed. How could he have such a casual talk whilst knowing that this is the end of the line for him. The end of his live as it had been.
"What is going to happen next?" he asked.
"Under the current situation with Zion and the truce we have decided to give you a choice."
"You're lieing. The fact that you pronounced the word psyche differently tells me that you will force the choice upon me."
"Very well then. The truth is that after we found out about the contents of the quarantine and it's effects it had upon you, we decided to study your working and thought patterns for one week to be able to perform an efficient methode of mental change. You humans would call this methode brainwashing."
The room was silent for a moment, the Godgiver said:
"It seems that you were successful in gathering that information. I guess what you will do is this: You will exchange the contents of the quarantine with a program similar to that which you gave Crytpos and some other dozens operatives, then you'll release the quarantine, which will then passively change my thought and working patterns into those wich -you- would like me to perform. In contrast to the Cryptos case where the change was purely active so that when the program was removed by Seraph, the hold upon the mind had been broken, whereas in my condition where the logs you read have shown that using the anchor points of the leftover agent programming can permanently change the psyche of the subject, namely me, involved. Though I belief that a sufficient change in my psyche towards .. you, would take a few days, perhaps weeks."
The Agent nodded: "This is correct. Although there is a very high chance that you would have removed that "anchor point" long ago, it is in our interest that you haven't been able to do so.
The said process will take approximately fourteen days to take sufficient effect. After that period we will release you and put yourself back into 'charge'. We will also provide you with enough empty pods to work with, so that your system can work efficiently. Of course, we will have a steady presence here and keep watch."
"I'd rather kill myself than to let me turn into a marionette of the Machines." Words of desperation. Godgiver knew he had no possibility to kill himself, and if he had, he wouldn't die. There was still his plain, standard EJP and he was sure that he had not a single command right in his own home anymore. Resistance would be futile.
"Wasn't it you, who wrote 'The illusion of having thought is the same as the illusion of having choice' in the broadcast channel? You don't have choice. From now on, compliance is mandatory, human."

The other agents turned around and left through the doors they came in.
"Resistance is futile and you have nowhere to run, Mr. Leitner," it was the first time the Agent actually said his real surname, "you will comply."
The truth that his own world collided on top of his head without him knowing hit him like a fist in the face, the strain on his psyche suddenly became devestating. Godgivers face colour changed into purest white. Shortly after he vomited onto the floor and passed out.

Community Redpill Rescue Gunmans guide to solo Gargoyle in Ashencourt Gunmans guide to solo Gargoyle in Ashencourt GoDGiVeR 0 07/24/2007 06:17
Well, since I just hit 30 on Recursion, I'm soloing Gargy right now. This thread here inspired me to make this. Although I think Bayamos said in this thread that the easiest way to solo him is using Proxies, I have to disagree.

After the first three Gargoyle kills I got to know that killing him with a Rifleman build is so much easier than anything I've seen so far with soloing this boss.

Some advices/information:

1. Load: Rifles. Especially important is the ability Three Round Burst, which can be used when the enemy is staggered. It's important to have, since it can be used OoIL (Out of Interlock). What else you load to this is secondary. At first I used a crossload with Dual Handgus, then a crossload with Sniper. Damage wise, I'd go with crossing Sniper. lvl 30 Twin Westeks on power did about 50 damage to him, lvl 30 LaLone Sniper rifle did 60. Although there's a rather large difference in reuse time, it doesn't really matter. But for those who aren't used to sniping, you better crossload with dual handguns.

2. The Gargoyle:
 - It is VERY important that the Gargoyle never interlocks you first. It will make it more difficult for you to withdraw from combat
 - As Bayamos found out, the Gargoyle has Martial Arts attributes. That makes it so much easier to kill him OoIL.
 - Sometimes your damage will dramatically drop. From the above stated 50 damage from lvl 30 twin pistols, down to 11-16 damage. I can't say wether this is a bug, but I belief he has used the Aikido Ability Iron Body, which enhances his damage resistance over a short period of time. But don't bother about this. He'll get back into his former state soon enough ^^

3. Most important: DO NOT STAY IN IL (Interlock). He is double as difficult to kill him in IL than outside of it.

The procedure:

1. Attack him with ranged weapons. Preferably those with higher default ranged damage (pistol, twin pistols, sniper rifle in case of lvl 30). When he gets near, IL him. The moment you ILed, press withdraw. If withdraw gets untagged (normally it means that the tactic springs from withdraw to speed tactic), redo withdraw tactic. You can take the damage he does in a few rounds.

2. Now it's important: Everytime the Gargoyle looks like he's trying to IL you, or is already attacking your shield. IL him FIRST, then withdraw immediately. When you yourself withdraw it has the effect that he will with a large probability not try to IL you again anytime soon. The moment you've withdrawn do not attack him with abilities that would root him (immobilizing shot, covering fire, etc.) since he will try to move around after the root wear off, threatening to destroy the "calm" state he's in. Also you have to stand exactly where you are to make sure that also the Gargoyle won't move and thus will not try to IL you. Of course, this state will not hold forvever. So if it breaks, IL him and withdraw to get him back into this state. Most of the time when he's in the state, he will not use ranged weapons upon you. So this has only positives ^^

3. Always keep point 2 in mind. Attack him with power ranged attacks. Everytime he's staggered, use your Three Round Burst. Of course, to ensure that it hits better, use speed attack with it, but you can do it with power too ^^. Use Firearms skill every now and then to do awesome damage (also in conjunction with the Three Round Burst). With twin Westeks I did 90-99 damage with power, with Lalone Sniper Rifle 110-120 damage with power while having Firearms skill on.

Generally, apart from Three Round Burst and FireArms Skill I didn't need any abilities that used up IS. The only danger there is, if he gets you into IL.
All in all, I can kill him that way in a few minutes, in most cases ending the fight with full HP and half IS left. You don't need boosters or HPs (Health Pills), although these are recommended for a longer stay in any Construct ^^

Maybe that will also help the other builds like hackers, proxies and spies for this boss. Unfortunately this won't work with MAs but they can solo him in IL, although soloing him with Rifleman is so much more relaxing ^_^

EDIT: fixed typos, also the "calm state" as I explained it, is a behaviour error in the Gargoyle's AI. Everybodies known that especially construct bosses behave "weird" when it comes to different styles of combat. The "calm state" as I called it has those attributes:

- He probably will not use any ranged weapons or ranged abilities. I have yet to get to know if that procedure works for other construct bosses like Tengu or Taskmaster as well since both of them have ranged abilities.
- He will stand still for a while and do nothing (exceptions see above). If he's hit by debuffs like stun or rooted, it will force him to move after the debuff is gone, making him release this state.
- You can recognize if you succeded in bringing him there, if he's just 1 meter outside of IL range. If he is closer and inside the IL range, he is not in this state.
The Lounge Next Renaissance When the truce ends ... (IC) When the truce ends ... (IC) GoDGiVeR 0 07/18/2007 01:24
I've heard it so many times. It made me chuckle, to say least, every time.
A machinists or Cypherites answer to the question "What will happen if the truce every gets cancelled, ends?"
Their answer if simple. Nothing. They think they'll stay under the protection of the Machines under their wings, operative Agents, so to say, watching over the blues.

Anybody with an understanding of the Machines know that that will never happen. The protection, that is.

When the truce ends ...

... the Machines will reset the cycle as fast as possible.
To achieve that they have to
... destroy Zion and "New Zion" and any other bases of Humans in the Real.
... kill every Redpill Operative out there, may they be Zion, Merovingian,
EPN, CYPH or even Machine (I'll get back to that later).
... recover every bit of code of the Anomaly (namely "The One", Neo).
... reboot the Matrix, reset the peoples minds.
    ... reset the Anomaly.
    ... rebuild Zion.
    ... regrow the Zion population.
... wait for the next coming of our "Messiah".
... will be the next greatest war next to the one before the near extinction of the human race.
... will nothing we have done up to now, what we have endured, changed anything. Everything will be in vain.

As I stated, nobody will survive the war. Not a single operative. No-one. The reasoning is simple. Do Machinists and Cypherites really belief that the Machines can allow definite threat factors (the operatives) let alive? There is no reinsertion process and keeping the Redpill operatives, wether they work openly with the Machines (Machinists) or secretly (Cypherites), just brings the danger of awakening and many questions to those, that will be awakened at the next coming of "The One", by encountering people that should not be there by any means. Well, if they manage to reset the cycle, that is. But the Machines would have no other choice than to reset the cycle if they end the truce.

No, neither Machinists nor Cypherites will survive the end of the truce.

But at least, Machinists try to hold up the truce, while the Cypherites try to reactivate the cycle.

Why would the Machines want to reset the cycle, though? The only thing that kept them was the truce. No truce = back to their program. And by now, everybody knows what that means.

Seeing, that none of this has happened, there's only one conclusion. The truce is alive. I want to say that clearly, although it's at a temporary hold until things "clear up", again. Of course, open war it is, too. But it's not as far as dangerous as the total end of the truce.

Of course, this is an assumption based on the belief, that if the truce ends, it's because we have failed and war will rage. An all-out war, unlike now. Of course, if the truce ended it could also be that we succeeded, and a peace treaty finally comes into place. There are still other possibilities, though.

Abilities and Disciplines Command Line - Hacker Discussion Improved Hacking in Force Multiplier, Combat Auras and UM Improved Hacking in Force Multiplier, Combat Auras and UM GoDGiVeR 0 07/01/2007 07:01
As far as I can take from these, these are "fixes" (or whatever you would call them) that would be needed:

Combat Aura 1.0: Add Thrown Acc (+ Viral Acc?)
Combat Aura 2.0: Add Thrown Dam
Improved Hacking: Change to short-autorefreshing ability like Combat Auras, Deflect Bullets and mainly every other dam/def/acc based ability in the whole Force Enhancer tree

UM: Add Healing Dam

Explanation:

Force Ehancer has always been used soley because of IH, because it's a simple permanent AREAL buff for hackers (simple does not imply it's high IS cost). Although UM always had Viral Dam it always lacked Healing Dam and the next downside is that it's only for 1 person at a time while IH can buff a whole team of 6. But IH is unlike any other accuracy / defense / damage based ability in the whole Force Enhancer tree. Every ability like the Combat Aura are short self-refreshing abilities, while IH is a permanent buff. Why? I see this as a definite design error. Also the lack of thrown acc on Combat Aura 1 and thrown dam on Combat Aura 2 is an error in design. One thing remaining would be short-time refreshing areal Viral accuracy buff. I doubt one should add that to either IH or the Combat Auras but still, it's a point still missing.

As far as UM goes, the only thing this one lacks is the Healing Dam.

Yeah yeah. I know what many of you'll be saying to the IH thing: ZOMG, we have your Artillerist/IH tree. Screw you and your idea.
My answer to that would simply be: I just pointed out an error in the design of the tree. If you don't agree with it and stay on your biased view, so be it.

Who can do that?
  - Everyone! Especially EPNS!

Why do we do that?
  - Why not!

What do we do if we killed one?
  - Make a screenshot with proof ((doesn't need to be a CQ though, just that you got killing blow for instance))

What do we do next?
  - You do NOT send the proof to my mail box, you send them to Haigens and the rest of the Cyph liasions.

How long can we have that fun?
-As long as you want, we'll continue even after the session of the Cypherites will end.

What will get for killing these nubs?
  - Frustration on their side when they see that the high-score in kill submissions was not EPN but CYPH kills.

But what is that?
  - Hey, now that the mechs abandoned the secret connection to the CYPHS, maybe one of the Machine liasions will give us a reward too! ((I'll get in contact, let's see 'bout that!))

Feedback Forums Ability Feedback Counter-Throw + Guard Breaker = bug Counter-Throw + Guard Breaker = bug GoDGiVeR 0 04/13/2007 09:20
Well, with my nooby char on Recursion I toyed around with THE lowlvl aikido move: Counter-Throw.

It has another timer than Guard Breaker, so it would have given a great combo for lvl 22-25s. There are only some problems:

Through the extremely short time of Conter-Throw between execution, animation (and the damage phase in between) is extremely short. When u then try to do a guard breaker directly after counter-throw it may get:
a.) deselected for some reason
b.) it will be postponed for next round
c.) it will succeed
d.) it will fail and say in system chat "You do not have Guard Breaker loaded"

Ad a) I don't know what the problem is.
Ab b) No problem there, you pressed the guard breaker too late because of the 2 phases (damage phase is always in between)
Ab c) You were fast enough to press it before or at the time the counter-throw button flashes up green (execution phase). Pressing it before the Execution phase is possible because of a short idle phase between rounds.
Ab d) You maybe were fast enough or you weren't fast enough nor too slow (for postponement for next round). It bugs the guard breaker. Sometimes it does work the next time you execute it, sometimes I had to replace the icon in the hotbar, sometimes it took some time until worked again.

I found it extremely difficult to avoid the bug and do the combo in a straight row but I think the combo itself is pretty cool SMILEY

This is what I have experienced before the anni-patch. I haven't tried it again so often after I hit 26 and left Yuki. But I guess I will, so I can take some screenshots if the problem still persists.

Action: () ... Optional Action

(Firearms skill + )Conceal + Line Up the Shot + Conceal Shot + Power Chastity attacks

Outcome: Dramatically decreased damage output instead of dramatically increased one.

Normal damage with (full) combo: 200-250 with Concealed shot and 70+ damage with power Chastity
Bugged damage with (full) combo: 30-70 with Concealed shot and 8-25 damage with power Chastity

Normal damage with power Chastity: 25-40 damage

The bugged damage returns to normal after Line up the Shot is gone.

When u press freefire (i usually use a rifle like kessay AR1) it will NOT stop freefire even if you move or use abilities. It will do freefire attacks continously (in the reuse intervals of course). The only thing that interrupts the freefire is jumping or targeting someone else (or nobody). It happens most of the time when I fight the 01 TM. Also when this happens and you or the NPC/player gets out of range of the weapon you will get a target is not in firing range message every 0.5 second until you are very close to him/she/it again (even if you're under the guns range you need to be in like 10 meter range or sth) or you abort it using the above stated.

Feedback Forums Ability Feedback Riflebuttsmash bug Riflebuttsmash bug GoDGiVeR 0 02/23/2007 03:48
I already noticed some month back when I toyed around with the Rifleman tree. When the Riflebuttsmahs fails due to powerlesness/stun/etc. (when u execute it sucessfully but nothing of the ability has yet started) it does an "ERROR" attack instead (like with all abilities out there). If this ERROR attack hits, it does the animation AND withdraws you from Interlock, effectively not having used the ability (I think IS is still drained though). Which means, now there is no reuse timer on Riflebuttsmash ergo if you reinterlock the Rifleman a few seconds later he can do the Riflebuttsmash again!

Of course, Riflebuttsmash works just fine under normal circumstances. My guess is that all withdraw abilities (most are from spy tree either way) could have this effect.
