  For a couple of weeks now I've been having progressively worstening lag in general at the start of and interlock round, worst if that interlock is caused by an ability usually making me lag out for about 20 seconds. This at first I thought was caused by the wireless connection to the router as I've had problems with the wireless which have been getting worst over the past week causing my connection to MxO and other online games to just time out.

Recently I installed a wire which now means I'm in direct link to the server now while the complete timeout issue has disappeared and I'm no longer being disconnected from the router I still have this problem whereby I lag out at the start of interlock usually finding myself dead by the time I get my connection back.

  We have armour piercing weapons but the armour piercing doesn't have an effect at the moment so I was thinking of creating something along the lines off

5% chance of 40pts drop in Ballistic resistance for 10 seconds.

And then with certain types of enhanced weapons for each general level, give them the the Armour Piercing ability. Each time the level increases we could have an increase in time and/or drop in resistance e.g

Level 1 - 9     =  5% chance of 5pts drop in Ballistic Resistance for 3 seconds.
Level 10 - 19 =  5% chance of 5pts drop in Ballistic Resistance for 5 seconds.
Level 20 - 29 =  5% chance of 10pts drop in Ballistic Resistance for 5 seconds.
Level 30 - 39 =  5% chance of 20pts drop in Ballistic Resistance for 10 seconds.
Level 40 - 49 =  5% chance of 40pts drop in Ballistic Resistance for 10 seconds.
Level 50        =  10% chance of 40pts drop in Ballistic Resistance for 10 seconds.


Also the drop rate for the guns especially the level 50 versions should be extremely low and if possible get them to drop from the bosses in the hideouts only. Therefore it would take a long time to acquire a level 50 version and again like the Lancet it can't be decompiled and duplicated.

  Ok just got a new computer, installed and began patching. It's the same wireless router/card/connection as I had on my old computer and I've never had any problems before.

Normally the patch will go fine till it reaches Rezmap.ltb at which point it hangs for a good 30 minutes not downloading anything. Cross fingers that it moves beyond that point then it manages to get to Xptl.dll This time it just hangs for 3-4 hours and then gives me error code -42 (unexpected download termination)

I've deleted the folders which start with _. connected the computer by ethernet cable directly to the wireless router and did a clean boot attempting to get the program to work. As far as I can see in the patch log the file

prefabs_4c.pkb-7.5636-ce9cb7cce8b7064569eb6f461077f252d8d1cdc4.rtp

Only partially downloads which could be causing the problem

  I have been using BT for my internet for about 5 years now and in all honesty while I've been using them it's been ok. Odd points of slowness but no major problems that have caused me severe irritation.

For about a week now I've been having problems with doing just about anything over the internet, it takes me a good minute to load up a page that has a high level of graphical representation. Playing MxO is basically impossible and any file I attempt to download has resulted in failure due to my internet being extremely slow. I've waited about a week checking over settings on the router ect. finally thinking I'm going to get in contact with BT. Get on the phone and apparently due to me downloading a few larger files from work and Playing MxO and downloading different webpages general internet use It's caused a breach of their "Acceptable use Policy" being the fact that I've been using the internet and downloaded a bit more than usual this month has caused "detrimental performance of the service to other customers" Apparently because I've downloaded approximately 60Gb of downloads this month this means that I have to have my internet speed cut down to 100kb from "upto 8Mb" (something else I have a problem with but won't go into that) for a month worst was that I wasn't even informed of it.

Now basically that means that although my broadband allows "unlimited usage allowance" It's not unlimited because obviously they have somewhere a large clause which says that a customer not download more than XGb of data in a month which is contained in their Acceptable Use Policies which completely contradicts the term "Unlimited"

Needless to say I'm slightly... aggravated about this since not only does it limit my use of the internet for personal use it also stops me from doing my job at home as well. This also means that many people who play games like MxO and other MMO's are probably more vulnerable to this than normal users, Generally I believe that it was caused by the fact that I had to download several large files at once that we're in area of 3GB but as far as I'm concerned when I bought the package it said that I had unlimited broadband which can be interpreted as "You can download as much as you bluddy want to!" but in actuality they mean "You can download as much as you want to as long as you don't download this much"

In the case of having a "detrimental affect" on the network. The speed I set the downloads to go for were 10Kb so that the internet was unaffected at home and so I could still play MxO, meaning I had no "detrimental affect" on any other user.

Question is I pose to you, do you think it's fair that they have these hidden limits?

  It was quite obvious from the thread about using the System FM-1500 for dual pistol animations that there are a lot of people who are not happy with the fact that Machines get their own high damage weapon, so.

What guns do you think Zions and Merovingians should get as a reward?

Also do you think there should be a harder type of event that these rewards should be given out to?

  Generally the game is running slow, What I know is that the processor isn't being fully used, it doesn't go much above 50-60% the game is generally running about 1/2 a second slower, then it just jumps back up to normal speed. Since my PC is about 3 years old and I do usually leave it on overnight, do you think this could be the processor and would it be cheaper to just build a new PC instead of just buying the processor?

  Simply add the defend, offensive, passive actions to NPCs. This doesn't sound like much use to a level 50 but if you are level 20 then you will find that you can't mission because your NPC always attacks the local gangs and usually dies because they are much higher level than your NPC.

you've recently went against the forum rules, I wouldn't say that a few hours is history.

 It's what I was, past tense, who I was, who I am and what I will be are 3 completely different things. Also my English is sophisticated enough to know what arbitrary means, plus thats a personal attack on someone, someone being me. The mods do not make random decisions on punishments Twaggy gave you a list, I think what Twaggy meant by irrelevant was off topic, which is not arbitrary any dimwit can identify an on topic post from an off topic post at which the post is usually deleted, if a post has gone way too far, and 3 posts can make a thread go off topic, even with one person saying Mudkipz.

Telling someone to look up arbirtary is not an attack. And the rest of that is just plain silly and I dount you even believe it. One arbitraily (unreported) post should not kill a  thread.

it's an attack because you're insinuating that I don't know what arbitrary is, if I didn't know what it was I would have looked it up myself, I wouldn't need you to tell me to do so, therefore its an attack. I certainly believe it, I am an admin on the forum at my work and I've been a gaming forum/community forum. I've also moderated a few other forums, the rules on this forum are simple and clear and it's very simple, and not as enforced as others I've seen. One post doesn't kill a thread, hopefully if it's reported, the mod will delete it before it gets seen, otherwise it can start off a chain reaction, whereby others start posting off topic, after a while it can head onto pages of irrelevant off topic discussion. Also if the thread is going against SOE's TOS I think the mods are instructed to move it to a seperate hidden forum for the admins to look at if there is any action that needs to be taken because you signed or your guardian signed an agreement which you will follow the TOS.

Extremely insulting is against the forum rules and against SOE's TOS, doing so can result easily in a suspension or ban. Exploit threads are to be discussed through the official CCR channel, even when arguing against a decision.

You completely missed the point, again. It's getting to be a difficult to have to break everything down to you.

The point? the point is you said that "unless the mod knows the player right?" Well there are many mods, and the admins are on from time to time, you're saying that certain people are friends with ALL the mods? it would get removed regardless.

 

Nobody knows the forum mods, there isn't a player ingame called Juryman, or Arcane. It is very rare for them ever to have a "laugh" with the community and so you don't know them very well. If they did reveal themselves to someone, they are potentially risking a permanent ban from all SOE games. Something I wouldn't be prepared to put myself into.

And that's the problem, we should know who they are. But more importantly, they shouldn't even be mods. As usual the rest of your post completely misses the point.

again you like the term, "completely misses the point" you said that because they are players only their friends will know the jokes? and that the mods treat people who don't know their jokes differently and they should treat everybody the same. Ok well thats me trying to understand what you put in your last post, I think I'm missing the point because you aren't explaining very well is all. Anyway I'll take that as to be that players aren't being treated all the same. Thats simple, because each situation is different. Because everybody is different, there are different circumstances which make different outcomes.

  This is a problem I've found with the older archives, generally 1.1 1.2 and 1.3 If you're only about level 20 you are forced to mission in area's where the gang is a similar level to you. In these earlier missions though, they can only be done in certain mission zones. Therefore whenever you aren't in an area where a mission zone is available in that area then it gives you

"Mission cannot be started" or "My connection is freaking out"

Is there a way that extra possible mission area's can be added, because if there isn't an area in Downtown, Westview or International in the neighbourhood you mission in that doesn't have one of the mission sets, I've found it very difficult to complete the archive tickets.

  Ok now we all know that single gun styles are just the same as the self Defense and martial art tree's you stick with the same style for 40 levels. What I'd like to see maybe happen for the level 33 buffs is something a little different which maybe could be implemented for all 3 Gun and 3 MA tree's to spice up the whole animation Side of things (Of course I'm not actually going to ever see this happen unless we get an animator and probably a complete combat revamp but meh.)


Ok When you reach level 33 the ability gives you a completely new style of combat for that particular tree, you still use the same basic weapon/style but because you have the level 33 ability loaded it overrides the usual animations and gives a different, more complex style of combat. This obviously is borderline new animations but it isn't new tree's and so it just adds without any overpowered effects ect. I only originally had this in mind for the Duelist tree but thinking about it, it's a little unfair on the other Soldier trees so pretty much the styles just need to be more advanced, kinda like an unexperienced fighter might just go shooting guns blazing, an experienced fighter will do the same stuff, with more accuracy and more flair. My idea for the Handgun Artistry was that the duelist could spin the guns like Ocelot from MGS3.

  Currently as you know the 4 tree's are arranged in this order

---- < MA < Gunners < MKT < Hacker < ----

I've been running as a Gunman for a year and 4 months now, I find it really easy to kill MA and difficult to kill MKT, as you would expect, I fought a friend who was another Gunman, I fought him 5 times, won 4 times. now it's not proof that I'm better than him or anything you'd need to do it a lot more than 5 times to get anywhere near to proving who was better but since I didn't feel like sitting at my computer for 2 weeks testing I thought 5 times was enough, I restat as MA, putting good buffs into belief and focus with the rest in perception, I do a little PvP to find out if the build was any good and later on I go and do another 5 duels with my friend, he kicks my *CENSORED* usually only getting about 1-3 hits in max.

Ok, theres the anecdote,  the point is that there is a huge gap between the power of MA compared to the power of Gunman, the same as with the power of Gunner to the power of MKT and so forth, now we all know that due to the order of the 4 tree's, each having a weakness and a strong point, I'm sure MKT's have a lot of trouble with Hacker and I know Hacker has a lot of trouble with MA's. The point is maybe the gap is too big?

I'm thinking it would be better if we could close the gap somehow to something less, I'm not the best Gunman on the Vector server but I can still beat Madbent (The best MA on Vector <-- see I evened it out a little SMILEY) It may take a while but theres nothing people can complain about, it would mean that MA can take on Gunmen a little easier and have a chance to hit but they have to watch out more for Hackers, and it's the same for all 4 tree's.

I want serious discussion, I'm not going to let this one go down the same road as most other discussions of the same subject, any flaming I will report immediately and ask for the post to be moved off the thread.

I guess this comes under UI.

has anybody else got the problem where they can't create new crews, I get the error PS_SPDUPLICATECREWNAME which sounds obvious what the problem is but I get this error with every name I pick. I've been recently having a multitude of crew problems whereby I can't leave a crew/faction unless the crew is disbanded, if I leave or I get booted then I just jump back into the crew without an invite every time there is a server restart or patch.

Has anybody else had the same problem since I've send 4 ccr's now and no avail and it's getting really annoying since I can't join my faction as I'll screw up the crew I join.

This tutorial details a very simple method to create funky realistic smoke from scratch using very basic Photoshop tools.  Compared to other similar tutorials on the internet it may seem a little basic - after all, it makes no use of funky brushes, nor several filters, but the results are just as effective and much more user-definable.

Step 1:  Open up or create a base image in Photoshop of any size and/or format. You can use a stock source or a simple Photoshop-created flame, but bear in mind that for the rest of this tutorial realism is paramount.  If there is an open window near the flame source, the smoke trial will adjust accordingly.  Likewise, the smoke will only show up if there is light showing through the particles of smoke, so try to avoid scenes with far too little, or far too much basic lighting.  NOTHING looks more stupid and artificial than a poorly placed effect.

Step 2: Create a new transparent layer above the Background and make it the active layer.  Using a soft-edged tip on the Brush Tool and a white foreground color, draw a few 'guideline whisps' following the general path that you want the smoke to follow.

TIP: There are numerous ways you can personalize this step - some people advise using a 'splatter' tip and the airbrush to obtain a whispier, more ethereal effect, but I personally do not find that it makes much difference.

Step 3: Select the Smudge Tool with a soft tip around 10-20 pixels wider than smoke brush and set the strength to around 50%. Using smudge, stroke the smoke in the general direction of the air movement until it looks realistic.  You can see my example in the image toward the left.

TIP: You can substitute the Smudge Tool for Filter > Liquify if desired, but near in mind that the liquify filter requires practice to use effectively, and can be a little too strong with default settings!

Step 4: Grab the Eraser Tool, set the flow to 100%, the opacity to 40%, and the tip to 10px wider than the one you used for the Smudge Tool in step 3.   Using the eraser, remove some of the overly bright areas and give your smoke a little more depth.  It may help to refer to a source photograph if you need reminding how smoke looks in a realistic environment.

Step 5: Nearly there!  For the last step we need to use a gradient to fade out the smoke as it mixes with the air and floats further away from the flame-based light source.   To accomplish this, make sure the smoke layer is active in the layers palette and click on the 'Add Layer Mask' button () at the bottom of the layers palette.    Press D on your keyboard to reset your color swatches and then select your Gradient Tool (this tool might be hidden under your Paint Bucket Tool).   Duplicate the settings below.  Your interface for the Gradient Tool may be different depending on your version of Photoshop and operating system, but all the options should still be present.

 
 
Step 6: With the layer mask active (the white square to the right of the smoke layer thumbnail in the layers palette), use the Gradient Tool to and drag a line from the top of the smoke to the middle.

Now just lower your smoke layer's opacity to taste and you're finished!   See, I told you it was easy!   Feel free to experiment at your leisure - this sort of simple effect lends itself to many modifications and can be adapted to suit almost any purpose.   Enjoy!   SMILEY

With the Luggables off the drawing board and onto the playing field I felt that it's high time one of my favourite sounding abilities was redeveloped into something useful, instead of one of those poor 2 memory points you sacrifice to load up Ability Coder.

Encrypt and Decrypt Luggables

The Crypography tool is meant to decrypt and encrypt objects in your inventory, at the moment it doesn't have any use, there are no objects that it is used on to my knowledge (either that or I've spent a year and 8 months ingame not knowing what it does) but with luggables we now have objects that can be picked up and dropped at will or alternatively dropped forcibly.

I propose that the encrypt and decrypt function gives us a chance to protect our luggables from other organisations stealing it. Obviously when they come up with new luggables, they may spawn $i or give us major accuracy and defense bonus's we don't know, but I doubt that the bonus's will be anything that nobody will want so if somebody spots you using the Luggable (if they give the carrier good buffs) then the opposing org will want it and be on the lookout for you, when you die the luggable leaves your inventory but you've encrypted it, the opposing org can pickup the luggable but they are seriously downgraded when carrying it, their resistances are down by 100pts, movement speed reduced, HP and IS regen reduced, the only way the new carrier can get rid of the debuffs are twofold, they can either drop the luggable, or they can use the cryptography tool.

The Cryptography tool will decrypt the luggable and will set it so it gives all orgs the use of it with no debuffs, if he then encrypts it, only his organisation will be able to pick it up and not be downgraded.

Ok, fairly simple.

1) open Adobe Photoshop!
2) make a new image 800x800
3) fill your new image with white, then press d.
4) go to Filter > Texture > Grain and use these settings

5) then go to filter > artistic > Neon Glow and use these settings

6) then use filter > stylize > glowing edges and use these settings

to go from this -                                     (nothing)

This gives you the basic code that you can add to an image of your choosing, I will add it to this image with it being under the bridge

7) you then move the code over onto the image, to the desired point and screen it, then rotate it so the code flows in the desired way, and then use the Image > Transform > perspective to get the code to the correct angle. afterwards, you should have something that looks like this.

SMILEY you then delete away the rest of the code so it's left on the bridge



9) play around with the sliders in Enhance > adjust Brightness/Contrast > Brightness/Contrast so that the bridge light isn't different from the rest of the light anywhere else and then just cut out bits of the code to show in which direction it's flowing.

and thats about it, the best advice I can give people is not to follow these guidelines to the full but to experiment with them! otherwise you will always rely on tutorials.

I just switched from Zion to merv, I left my crew but it still says I'm in a crew in my details panel, I then get my merv rep to 1 and I'm still Zion in the details, I then get invited to Causality (merv faction) and I'm still Zion in the details panel, I relog and I havn't got the Causality tag above my head yet I'm still in the faction I just don't appear online, also in my details panel, I'm still zion and hopefully this screenshot will be much easier to understand if you find what I wrote gobledegook

now my question is, if you have encountered this problem, how did you solve it?

ok now I'm on a mission, the mission is to punt, to punt as many people as possible, and I thought I'd try MKT, my mouse hovers on my MKT upgrade and what do I see

now this is with max perception because I'm a gunner, as you can see there it gives 29pts accuracy bonus!?!?
lets compare it with SMG specialist which is the highest accuracy bonus buff for Guns.

now forgive me if I'm wrong but something just doesn't look right in this picture. there is a whole 19 pts difference in the highest accuracy bonus of thrown and guns.

It's in other boards but as far as I know it's not been brought up recently and I wanna see this one changed a little.

We all know that Data Miner is being split into extracting $i from the matrix and into searching for luggables, in response to the christmas event luggable as a trialI've decided to level it. I was messing around with the Data Tap and I think that it's a really great idea and it's sad that nobody seems to use it.

Reasons nobody uses it

  • takes longer than missions
  • No Rare items
  • Missions sometimes give NPC's large $i to drop
  • Farming much Quicker

those are the main points why Data Miner isn't used, mainly because it's much quicker to join a team of noobs and do a few missions. now obviously we can't get Rare Items, but I think we can maybe either increase the amount you get, or decrease the time it takes to extract information, or a combination of both. In higher level area's you get about 10k max. If we increased it to say 25k then that would certainly make it much more worth doing, and some of the larger nodes maybe contained one big 200-400k drop then that would encourage more people to use it.

When this idea was originally thought up it was a great idea, and I know that we've had problems with afk mining in the past but it's a shame to let certain abilities remain covered with dust.
