Easier and only needs to be done once with the rezmap method, I hate the RAM way. Sorry I haven't made your file yet, the past few days have kind of been overwhelming. I'll keep this tab open to remind myself to do it today.

There are also a few .tga, which could conceivably be extracted just fine. Not many, though.

I did a fair amount of playing around with txas over the past few years and feel that it's actually a custom file format, rather than the "make it a ZIP and then change the header bits a bit and call it a LTB" scheme. It could use some standard process or whatever but I haven't really explored the graphics side of programming much. The TXAs as they are though are unopenable with everything I've tried, including old released LithTech tools.

http://forums.station.sony.com/mxo/...741#36300559760 Still there, just been a lot of activity in General Discussion, GodGiver. If you download the guide, it has a section on hotbar hex, and also has a list of some hotbar hex codes included. To use it, make a hotbar on preferably a new char without anything on the other hotbars, and put cheapshot on slots 1-10. Then go into cui.cfg and you'll see the cheapshot hex 10 times. Swap em out.

Like was explained in the Guide, the full rezid list is packmap_save.lta, which you get from station launcher. You need to do a little digging sometimes. For example, Ookami = Ookama, Effy = Travel Agent, Gerneral, phone booth not HL, etc.

resource/characters/shared/textures/Coat/ is a good place to be looking, since the geometry was left the same I believe.

In which case you'll find:

04000FB5 00020200 "resource/characters/shared/textures/Coat/omegafcoat.txa" "packmaps/char_shared_c.pkb" 01E67670 00055526

Community General Discussion The Patch Re:The Patch Bayamos 0 06/08/2009 08:53

Yeah, the void shades swap perhaps shouldn't have been done. You can easily turn it off using the same way I described how to turn off eyes in the sky, or any other swap for that matter.

I just had an intense vacation weekend and am still recovering, so no updates are on the horizon from my end. Dunno about Mathalos, he's probably off dancing in Free Realms. I spent about 6 hours before I spent a few days making the patch/FX swaps just going through the rezlist and trying to find anything and everything I deemed worthy of inclusion. So there's not really anything that I would have liked to include but didn't, or that I feel was missing. I made The Guide to avoid having to make 34242 patch versions based on requests, so I feel like I've done my part and that if people have a few changes they want to make on their own they should reference the document. It's literally just:

1) Find rezid for what you want, ie this is a made up example

04081122 # "resource/blah/agentgray.moa" # # #

2) Split rezid into bytes and reverse them, 04 08 11 22 to 22110804.

3) Search rezmap.ltb for 2211080401

4) Copy the 34-byte sequence starting with 01, paste that into a new document

5) Do steps 1-3 for the item you want to replace

6) Paste the copied 34 bytes into the new rezid's 34 bytes and save.

All the changes' reversed rezids are included in the patch as a textfile, so reversing changes takes literally no time if you have a backed up rezmap.ltb.

Sorry, I went to Philly for the weekend and just got back. I replied to your PM before checking the thread, but I'll paste it here in case others want the same thing (how to reverse a change in the patch back to normal).

The no7thdayredder clouds.txa has been replaced with an eyes texture in the rezmap; the ids are noted in rezids.txt.

05050004 No7thdayredder Clouds / 680B004C Many Eyes

So if you have a backup copy of rezmap.ltb, replace the patch file's 34-byte seqence after the hex 0505000401 with the 34-byte sequence found in the backup copy (there can be many occurences of a reversed rezid in the rezmap, albeit rarely, and the correct ones always have the next digit 01). This is covered in the rezmap portion of the guide.

Community General Discussion LESIGS Re:LESIGS Bayamos 0 06/04/2009 14:30

ShadowMan1od contacted me on AIM and asked me to post this:

ShadowMan1od wrote:

Hey MxO! I can't believe this game is almost shutting down. It was a huge part of my life ever since I signed up at launch until I left at the end of 06. It was a blast while it lasted. Though I stopped playing my main RSI and never made it past level 25, I lived and breathed LESIG and threw everything I had into the characters.

Just to clear things up, I did get kicked out of LESIG. Once the plot started getting ridiculous with flying Seraph, I told one of my ex-MxO-playing friends about where things were going, and I'm guessing word passed on to Cap0ne, one of our good mutual friends (he's doing well!). I got the can shortly afterwards, and it coincided perfectly with the end of my subscription. The time I had with LESIG, though, was absolutely phenomenal. Having to constantly improvise and think philosophically deeply stretched me in ways I never expected, and it also helped me work on my writing/acting abilities. A lot of my stuff was pretty overwrought, but hopefully it was some good theater.

As far as characters I officially played for LESIG, in alphabetical order:

CorpLeon: One of The General's guys on Recursion. He never said anything and he died hard from a code pulse.

DanKasper: This was a bluepill character I made for an event where glitches were spotted down at the Uriah wharf. I missed it. SMILEY

Fivetool: This guy was a member of Scanline that popped up for a single meeting on Vector. Everything he said/did was baseballl themed, and the character only lasted for about a week before I got the boot from LESIG. If anyone remembers him and his meeting at the Zion construct, kudos!

Gyrho: Gyrho was a one-time character who popped up for an event with Ghost on Vector (http://forums.station.sony.com/mxo/posts/list.m?start=0&topic_id=35000003975). He was some kind of outlaw, and he never did much besides shake his fist a lot and yell at people.

JackNeilsen: He was the first person to get infected in the Shane Black event on Recursion. I forgot to take off my hat at one point as Smith, which got some laughs.

Khursun: Hooboy. Khursun was one of my absolute favorite characters to play, ever. I always wanted to play an antihero, and being a Cypherite absolutely fit the bill. I originally started this character for an event for The Rakshas, which kind of gave away my LESIG identity, but I felt good repurposing him. Even if he wasn't officially a liasion. The Cyph factions on Recursion - as well as the secret Cypherites like Ebola, Iovai, and Austrian - were some of the best company I could ever ask for. In-between coming up with a backstory, philosophizing, and spreading story rumors, I formed a really solid bond with these guys and even befriended them outside the game on occasion.

Khursun had a couple good f-ckups, including one time I think I accidentally told someone Cryptos was getting revealed (whoops!), but the HvCFT Unknown and the crazy guys who followed us around were an absolute blast to hang with. I had so much fun tormenting MadHattah (I don't think I ever told him we were purposely pissing him off), and the late nights at Camon made the whole LESIG thing worth it. I would pass on hanging out with actual friends to get online, and I felt genuinely antagonistic with other players from opposing factions (even if I agreed with them). And of course, I eventually sent Khursun up in flames. Thanks a ton of the memories with this one, guys.

Soniya: Soniya was my other favorite character to play on MxO. She also originally started as an event character named TheConcertmistress that I wanted to run, but realizing no one wanted to solve more TheJoker-esque puzzles, I gave her up to Scanline. It was weird/exciting/adventerous enough to play a convincing female character, but having to play a schizophrenic nymphomaniac was an entirely different beast. I had to completely stretch my improv/acting chops to get Soniya's character down, but it was absolutely worth it. The constant puzzled and flirtatious /tells I would get totally validated the experiment, and I talked just enough to be a constant presence but not so much to risk overexposure. I got to have teatime talks, blow kisses, and generally explore some kind of what I could only construe as my  sick, warped, and unstably murderous female side, and the confused looks and constant speculation more than paid off.

I originally wanted to incorporate Soniya into Scanline's backstory, having her as a beauty-destroying fugitive who first stole the hovercraft, but I left before final plans were laid out. Wanting to wrap up her story, I floated around the MxO sphere for a bit after I left, popping in once in a while with pre-recorded messages and the Lost Sojourn blog (http://lostsojourn.wordpress.com/). Lost Sojourn is one of my favorite writing projects ever, and it relies hugely heavily on symbolism. It basically tells the story of Soniya's apparent violent streak and descent into a pitch black psyche; please give it a read if you haven't seen it before! Cap0ne renewed my account for a month about a year ago, and I came back with a redesigned Soniya, hoping to stage some kind of grand final event for her story. The remaining LESIG (2.0?) people discredited the character and left the story for dead. Oh well. SMILEY

Besides LESIG, who can forget all the other MxO memories, especially from good ol' Iterator? 500 points to anyone who remembers Aelaterdoltem, abacic, and TSMessenger. MxO had so much potential that no other MMO since has managed to bring back, and even though the bulk of it went untappped, I think we did a pretty good job squeezing dry what we could.

And that's a wrap. Thanks a TON to all you guys -  especially the Recursion Cypherites - for making MxO such a wonderful time. Nothing else in my life has even come close to the bizarrely psychological, philosophical, deeply-involving, emotional, and enlightening experience I had as a LESIG member. I felt like a rediscovered person coming out, and I hope you guys had a blast coming along for the ride.

Until I return!/Scan for the truth, dears. Teehee!

A long time ago, back when you had to exploit to get into the White Hallways, there was a group of people (myself included) who would go there any chance we got.  There were horror stories about how people would exploit themselves into the White Hallways, be right in the middle of taking a screenshot of themselves there, and a CSR would come walking out of one of the doors.

Those stories scared the crap out of a lot of us, so we would go late at night, or early in the morning... times we knew that were outside of typical SOE office hours.  Once we reached the hallways, 5-10 of us would gather in the middle, /sit, and just talk.

You know how people typically gather around a campfire and tell ghost stories to one another?

This was like that... except the stories we told were of the strange and often unexplainable things we'd encountered in the game.  From Assassin sightings, to whatever.

It occurred to me last night that this is one of the things I'm going to miss the most.  That sense of awe and mystery... the perception that anything really was possible, and could happen at any time, when you least expect it.

Now that it doesn't matter anymore - could you tell me how exactly such exploits were done?

In my entire time here, I NEVER got any grasp on any kind of exploit, or how you find out such things at all. It's been a mystery to me all along.

We used to exploit our way to the White Hallways by making ourselves spawn under the Downtown map.

You could do it by going into the Subway at Lamar North, making a /sit macro, using the Subway interface to go to Center Park, and right after you clicked "accept" and your character started running into the train, hitting your /sit macro.

You would sit inside the train, then you would spawn under the Center Park subway.

Eventually they put a lock on our ability to move around, once you're off-map, though.  Now you just rubber-band back to the same spot and can't move.  I imagine that there's a way around that if you talk to the right person, though.

If you use the subway method as Phrack mentioned, you'll be rubberbanded; you need to desync from server position updating to move. To do so, invite a teammate in a different district to the team, and then teleport them with Team Recall. When the Team Recall cast bar approaches the 'b' in member, start running. You should desync from rubberbanding, and will be able to run everywhere. However, you'll need to resync if you want to go anywhere serverside. When you find the place you want to go, sit down, and you will appear to appear out of thin air for anyone present there. But, the server doesn't like large jumps, which will cause you to play the "Local Area Recompiling" animation endlessly (this can sometimes be fixed by /jackout). You have to run a bit, sit down to resync, and then desync again, repeating the process in steps until you reach your destination. If you reach a point and you get stuck or run onto some navmesh, sometimes /jackout will shoot you back to your last synched location.

Alternatively, you can find a chair with its back to the building exterior either above or below ground depending on your intent. Hit tab to sit in the chair, and just as you do, equip a gun. It's best if you start in a different stance (no Self Defense). You will sit down and then automatically begin to stand back up. Once that happens, hold W to run backwards through the back of the building. You will float in midair with the sitting effect; this occurs serverside and you don't need to desync/resync constantly. However, once you reach the place you want to be, you need to /jackout to leave the sitting animation.

In both cases: if you "run" on the same Z-axis as ground, you will adhere to that navmesh because your client recognizes that you are standing on navmesh, despite your lack of server sync, and you will no longer be able to run through things. You don't need to start from the perfect Z-vantage point; if you float high above, you can use /stuck to position you back on the ground below you. If you are below ground, you can use barrel rolls (put back ingame with the process explained in the Guide) to jump upwards.

And the server height cap is 10,000, Alphaea. Speed up MXO's process speed and doubletap w while floating in midair and you can shoot up thousands of meters at a time if performed correctly.

Hmm. Got into Funker Vogt, Front 242, Apoptygma Berzerk, Wumpscut, Covenant, Massive Attack, Einsturzende Neubauten, Portishead, and more from music posts made by exsu and Gretyl, or from trying to internet detective Vogt's identity.

Read some books and had some trippy thoughts due to 10011.

Got to chat frequently from people from different countries (UK, Scotland), which made me more aware of the different paths and perspectives we all have. Wouldn't have normally been exposed to this due to being a cultureless American.

A true appreciation for the bell curve, its implications, and that I was not born brain damaged.

A greater appreciation for experiences away from the keyboard, after I finally became disillusioned with the carrot on a string as "fun" dynamic. MXO might have some pretty graphics, but I like nature far better.

Some really funny Ventrilo recordings, some really good friends.

I found that I can have great drive and willpower in getting things done / figured out if I care intrinsically. I ended up exploiting this to teach myself some of the harder things going on in my uni subjects by making them relevant to MXO somehow. Shame I won't be able to do that anymore when I hit compilers and such...

I think watching and taking in part in such a microcosm during my transition from teenager to young adult led to several revelations about human nature, motivation, and interaction. Being part of two small "band of brothers" type-atmosphere factions that at times were widely disliked for their constant tournament or event winning streaks / exploits accusations really did wonders in helping me to stop giving a sh1t what people thought about how I spend my time.

Ultimately, I got the sense that while not everything may be everyone's cup of tea or natural talent, whether it be making art with photoshop, writing intelligently (I remember my first PRIMORDIA GETS URGENT MISHUN FRUM AGENT GRAY TO SAVE MATRIX rp all too well), competing in some PVP or tournament form, or poking around in hex/source, if one gives it a go, after a while they'll have progressed onward from where they began. Unfortunately, the same sense of progress can't be said for attempting to do the Orangutan dance on stage at FanFaire... We do not speak of this. Time to stop typing.

As a footnote, my vocabulary range, spelling, and punctuation skills have dropped significantly; I was a 16-year-old grammar nazi when I first started playing. Now, after years of peeveepeespeak I find that I mistype words phonetically and only see the fail after I hit Enter. Thanks, Internet!
