So the concept of this is basicly 7 collectors be placed around the city, these collectors would be from the black market and would only stay put for 1 week, when the servers are reset or updated they would be moved to different areas in the city, making them hard to find. These collectors would be unique due to their items and their requests for said items. First before these are implemented, every collector item in the game should be able to be turned in at their respective collector for a box of the collector items, making it easier to hold onto them for the black market collectors.

Now to put alittle more detail on the collectors, each collector would have a list of 5 items, that are rare and very hard to get. Each of the 7 collectors has a different list of items and all are very good items. I've come up with a list for 1 of the collectors with buffs and all.

Black Market Headgear: Basicly a Black shiny Patchers headgear.

Min charactor lvl 50.

Melee Resistance 33pts

Balistic Resistance 33pts

Thrown Resistance 33pts

Max health 400pts

IS Cost Reduction 15%

IS regain rate 20%

The collector will ask for a box of 20 of every single collector item from accross the simulation aswell as 500 million info. (Due to it being from the black market, of course it will be a very high price and grind for such a rare item.)

Next item.

Black Market Shoes: These shoes are black with a slight black smoke FX coming from them.

Min Charactor lvl 50.

Melee Accuracy 5pts

Balistic Defense 20%

Balistic Resistance 33pts

Melee Resistance 33pts

Max Movement speed 20%

Viral Defense 5%

To get this item the collector will ask you for The lvl 50 ninja Gear, a pink gi and 250million info.

Next item.

Black Market FM-1600 (A knock off of the agent gun, with slightly more damage. And  downgrades. Golden Color.

Min Charactor lvl 50

Base Damage 16-16

Range 20

Downgrades

5% chance Powerless 10 seconds

5% chance stun 10 seconds

5% chance confused 10 seconds

5% chance rooted 10 seconds

10% chance to slow.

The collector will ask for 50 System Tie Clips Aswell as 500million info. (The items you get from the lvl 100 Agents that attack zions only.)

Next item

Unlimited Silver Bullet/Wooden Stake (You get 2 items a silver bullet and a Wooden Stake that can be reused untill they run out of purity.)

 Min charactor lvl 1

The Collector will ask for 100 wooden Stakes and 100 Silver Bullets aswell as 100million info.

Next item

Black Market System Hack. (This item is very good for pvp and anyone would want it, basicly it's a tool that while equiped gives you a red GM fire around your RSI and a chance to heal you when you take damage.)

Min Charactor lvl 50

Upgrades

50% Chance to heal 500-750pts (This means that it gives you a 50% chance when you are hit to be healed from the item instantly for 500-750 health points.) This is a item everyone would want and those that get it would really be uber but hey if they work hard for it why not?

The collector will ask for 1 Male or Female Patchers Bandana, 1 Male or Female Patchers Headgear, every collector box of items for the collectors in the simulation, 1 Male or female Ninja GI, 1 male or female pair of Sleepwalker Pants and 500million info.

The collector will tell you once you have gained the item. "You didn't get that item from me, it's a banned item and the machines might not like you wearing it/using it." After recieving the item, you will regaurdless of if you have the node or your org, will recieve a system message that Agents are homming in on your location.(Note this is for all items that all of the black market collectors have. A lvl 255 Agent will begin to spawn and hunt you down.)

Now I know some of these items are extreamly uber, however, the collector that has these will be moved once a week making it harder to find this one, players will spend hours searching the matrix for this collector, and I will have items and their buffs for the other 6 collectors when I think of them. But for now, tell me what you think of this idea and don't say it's impossible because this is a very plausable idea and could be implemented to give players a reason to leave richland and search the game for these uber collectors. Giving people a reason to explore again and a reason to keep farming the old content.

Uh *thumbs up* on thinking of new ideas.

The idea of a moving collector = good.
Overpowered items = bad.
Collecting mad ammounts of things = bad.
GM flame = bad.

Bad outweighs the good on this idea. SMILEY

Your good ideas are always offset by making them ridiculously huge grinds with ridiculously overpowered items as the reward.

Why do people think making an item really hard to get should offset making it severely overpowered?

All that means is not only will one person have a major advantage over the other players. but it is extremely unlikely that many people will be ABLE to acquire it in order to even the playing field

Yeah, pretty much what those above said. Too over powered and too massive a grind.

Well, the headgear could work. And the collector ideas are good, but I doubt it'd be easy to implement unless Rarebit moves them manually every week, which he's not about to do. Otherwise they'd just become randomized and everyone would just learn the spawn points.

The moving idea sounds pretty cool, but i have to agree with the others tone down the items a some and make the collection be more like having to get some random collectors items as well as hideout drops but not every collectors item cause then they would probably be rarer than an assasins mask. Especially with the moving what if they were on like elevator floor 29 of the gov building, you'd never find them.

I like the idea that Cryptos has a unique bandana to an extent adding it in as an item would be a bit odd.

Those really aren't that hard of grinds, except for the Patcher headgear and all the Ninja gear part. The bugged consumables are still ingame but supposedly weren't supposed to be. Don't think that's gonna happen. And GM Fire? .... Nope.

The buffs definitely do need to be toned down a tad. However, I really like the idea that you'll have to acquire so many items that are hard to get, and it'll make old content reusable again in a slightly less annoying way. We need more 'quest' style activities however, with rewards that would make them worthwhile pursuits.

I think that we need to start looking away from clothing items and start looking toward activatable buff items that are alike in nature to the Glimmer of the Source, and items that you would put in your Tool slot set in order to increase your effectiveness. These alternatives wouldn't fill up anything in the clothing Database, and with enough of these items in circulation - you could have so many customizable options in PvP. You could also give out enhanced versions of these items during events, etc.

Interesting.

Do you have any role story for them?

They could be gun/drug dealers, more than selling clothes.

The Black Market is a team of highly powerful exiles, that have learned to break the rules of the simulation and create items of untold power. They have been in hiding since the truce first started, and were the ones that supplied the merv with all his high tech weapons for his exiles. Now they have returned, during war times they aren't at the top of the machines list of things to be taken care of.

There are 7 of these exiles located in secret areas of the simulation, they move to a different area each week, never the same as the one before it. They themselves cannot be found just by looking randomly, you have to go in search for them. The items they carry are very powerful in the hands of redpills and exile alike. And these are pros, so they mask their locations well, dispite the code within their items. But be warned, these items do not come cheap, and they are very powerful so once the item is in your hands the machines will instantly track you down and kill you. Due to the nature of these items, untill it becomes apart of your RSI permanently, the machines will seek you out and attempt to destroy the item you will have to work so hard to obtain.

Another one of the collectors will have 5 more items.

Black Market Sniper Rifle

Min charactor level 50.

Base Damage 16-16

Range 30

States:

5% chance root

5% chance slow

20% chance to stun

The collector wants every gun collector item in the simulation and 100million info

Next item

Black Market T shirt. (A white T shirt that has in black letters accross the front "Black Market"SMILEY

Min charactor level 50

33pts melee resistance

33pts ballistic resistance

33pts viral resistance

33pts thrown resistance

Initative bonus 5pts

The collector will want every collector shirt in the simulation and 100million.

Next item

Black Market Earpiece( This item is basicly a white earpiece like the agents have only to wear it you put it in the tool slot and it appears on your RSI.)

Min charactor lvl 1

25% health regain rate

25% IS regain rate

Max Health 200pts

The Collector will want 25 system tie clips and 50 Raedor's Earpieces + 100million info

Next item

Instant Kill code. (Ever wondered what would happen if a player was suddenly able to kill a Live Event Charactor in one hit, making them reconstruct instantly afterwards? Well now you can, with the Instant, 1 time only use kill code)

Min charactor lvl 1.

Range 1

Damage 99,999

Kills the player using it aswell.

(Uses a dev field and then meatwadd effect on the dev charactor and the player using said kill code.)

The collector would want 1billion info.

(I know everyone is gonna tell me no this one can't and will never be put into the game, however, it would be funny if I could run up to the merv and use it on him, kills him and we never see em on Recursion again only on syntax and vector, gawd that would be funny.)

Next item

Black Fire FX item( basicly it's fire only black and it's permanent.)

Min charactor lvl 1

Upgrades Health Regain rate 10%

IS regain rate 10%

IS cost reduction 50%

The collector would want 500million info.

Now mind you, I haven't really thought these through that much, just came up with them in my head, stuff I'd really love to see in the mega city to make me want to explore it and make others do the same. It will also give people a reason to farm old content and with 5 more collectors the possiblities are endless! I'll take suggestions for other items the other black market collectors could have aswell, and be creative! There might be limits to the game but this is just an idea and ideas don't have limits unless you put limits on them, then they become boring. SMILEY

The Black Market moving collector concept is good.  The items are a bit much, and we have enough stuff to farm for for a long while.  If you can transform the collectors from grind- or farm-based to storyline based, then you're on to something.  Like mission tickets that immerse you into the intrigues of Mega City.

They also could ask for bits. That way bits could be useful to the people who don't code and it wouldn't be junk anymore.

And a way to find them could be written in the Sentinel newspaper as a riddle, or some random pedestrian could refer to them.

I like this idea. even if I can't think in any special item. I would like to see this.

Org items only:

Zion key: access to Metacortex building
Mero key: access to Hell club
Machine key: access to white room

EDIT: This items might be useful for event meetings or have the org reunited.

Metacortex for zion doesnt seem to make much sense :p
I'd say something like hrm the tea house, or sewers meeting room. although those seem like they might have to use all new indoor patterns for them.
