Desert of the Real SOE Discussion Fan Faire 09 Fan Faire 09 Yasamuu 0 11/24/2008 15:57

Alrighty, I think we can all agree last years Fan Faire was a pretty successful one for MxO. We had our name and a short video clip up on the screen at the community address, we had at least one dedicated computer booth set up for the game and we had bigger and louder numbers than the previous year creating an altogether better impression of our game and, from what we could tell, turning a few heads.

The purpose of this thread, besides discuss the lead up to the next Fan Faire and who will all be going or at least trying to, is to make suggestions both in 'an ideal world' and 'reasonable' to which we could improve our promotion and our own experience of our game during the next Fan Faire.

In an 'ideal world' I'd love to see MxO with it's own booth, like The Agency and that kind of thing though I don't actually remember an SWG/EQ booth, but eh my memory is sketchy, so those booths are probably reserved for the likes of up and coming games.

So, anyways, I think some reasonable suggestions/some not would be;

-MxO trial keys coming with every bag that's handed out at registration.

-Perhaps some kind of video demonstration/tutotial at one of the panels taking potential new players. If people are interested having recieved the trial key, having this at a panel would then allow them to have an introduction to the game visually with no real hassell to them and they'd have an idea of how to start without running around like headless chickens, though that is part of the fun sometimes.

-Perhaps, depending on the quality of the video, in our short video clip at the community address it could actually be scenes from a player video, perhaps the winning one from Phracks contest or a seperate contest run closer to the time.

-Some kind of display of some of the artistic design done by some of our players, to show the real beauty of the game off and the artistic potential. (This is unlikely, I'd expect)

-If I recall, Warner Brothers is a pain when authorising stuff like Morpheus' RSI etc to be put on alot of the Fan Faire merchandise. Is there any kind of Matrix Online RSI that could be put on the fan faire merchandise? An RSI with just green code streaking down it, for example?

Hum, thats all I can think of just now D:

As far as destinations go, I'm easy. Somewhere close to wherever I end up in the US next year would be nice though, incase it's later than usual this time around :p

Development Discussion Development Roundtable Halloween idea. Halloween idea. Yasamuu 0 10/23/2008 15:07

Ok, so, I was talking with a couple of people about Halloween Events in other games and it got me to thinking about how we could do something different to improve our halloween events.

So, what I'm proposing is that the Zombie Virus flags you for free for all PvP(I'd settle for flagging for normal PvP, but it'd be pointless for Vector). If you're bitten by a player or a Zombie, this would flag you to FFA PvP. The Zombies could have a 1/3 chance of dropping 'Flesh' that can be traded for 'Vaccine' or 'Cure', for example, a consumable that would deflag you.

The flesh could have some small scale buffs on it too, I suppose, making it a comsumable too.

This would just give the Zombie Virus a reason to be avoided and could be a bit of fun, in my eyes.

To stop the consumables causing a problem during the normal cycle the 'Vaccine' or 'Cure' would be deactivated and unable to use outside of the Halloween period.

Discuss, shoot down, etc. ;)

Durr, editted for horrible typos.

Alrighty, this is a copy-pasta of the thread made originally by Gitano and then maintained by Havocide. So props go to them for the vast majority of this. Since Havocide is currently unsubbed, in order to update this page I've made a new post and added a few changes to it aswell. I'm hoping to grab everyones org thats on this list so that new players looking to join a specific org know who to contact and who not to about doing so. Perhaps updating faction tags might also be worthwhile as someone looks to join a faction. Players who are unsubbed I will score out but keep on the list so that when they return they can become active in helping new players again, though they themselves might need to seek people on this list out but please inform me if anyone is unsubbed and I don't have them scored out. Please, make any suggestions as to things that can be added to this list to help make things easier for new players and if you know faction/orgs of players on the list that I either don't have or have gotten wrong, please feel free to inform me, thanks.

If you wish to be on the list please PM me your handles and il add them on!

Welcome new players and existing! We have compiled a list of Operatives within the Matrix who are on hand to offer any form of assistance that they can. This is your chance to get the help you need other than waiting for replys to posts on the forum. Though they are replied to quickly anyway, getting in touch with someone first hand is that much easier in game.

The Aim: "Is to provide a list of experienced players so that new and even older players can contact them in-game for help.  Our hope is that between these two threads we can offer prospective
players a much easier time learning the ropes and a much better first
impression of MxO.  Bring on the fun!"

To contact anyone on the same server, you simply have to type in the chat box  /tell or just /t for short ((Their name and then your message))  EG: /tell Yasamuu Hello.

Using either /tell or /t will result in a message being sent to the player, for the purpose of simplicity though, we'll just continue with /tell in the rest of this guide. So, what should appear on your screen is this:
"Whisper to Yasamuu>Hello".

If you are on say Syntax and you wanted to contact me on Vector, then the code you need to type in the chat box is : /tell vector-hostile.((Their name))     EG: /tell vector-hostile.Yasamuu Hello .
Again this is what the end result should be:
"whisper to Vector-hostile.Yasamuu>Hello"

Heres a list of the codes needed to contact anyone:

/tell name                            ((For contacting someone on thesame server as you))
/tell syntax.name                (( To contact someone on syntax if you're on another server))
/tell recursion.name            (( To Contact someone on Recursion if you're on another server))
/tell vector-hostile.name
(( To contact someone on Vector-Hostile if you're on another server))

The Lounge Off-Topic Discussion 'Dead Set' 'Dead Set' Yasamuu 0 10/15/2008 04:05
So, the basic premise for this is that during a fictional series of Big Brother, a zombie outbreak occurs, but the house-mates are unaware of the impending doom outside of the Big Brother House.

It's set to be a small episode based series on E4 in the UK, so I'm not sure about US viewers but I'm sure you can grab it on the internet.

Now, what could be a more perfect marriage of genre's? Flesh eating Zombies and brain dead housemates on one of the most annoying but altogether addicting TV shows of the last 10 years. It really looks like it has the potential to be an enjoyable mini-series.

I'm guessing the other topic got locked for necro. Here was me thinking that bumping topics was better than making the same one twice SMILEY

Anyways, Is there any way we could have some kind of indicator, similar to the one of another team member, that tracks NPC's that you need to make follow you out of a mission zone to another zone.

If we could have like a blue dynamic indicator on the mission map for friendly NPC's you have to make follow you and a red one for your enemies then we could track them too so that if they go walk about and leave the mission area they can be found.

((So, basically I've copied and pasted a piece I haven't posted here before. I intend on adding to this as time goes on. The piece was runner-up in the anniversairy competition last year.))

Deja-Vu

The rain thrashed Andrews window with an annoying consistency; a constant wind driving it. Another early morning. Another annoying consistency; dreams about a New Years Eve TV program. The first one of this year; the first of 1999. That and awakening to that site of his clock reading 06:00. ‘That's almost a whole month now', he thought to himself. It was Tuesday morning, when the night met day. He sighed, rubbing his eyes. He lay with a grudging feeling of purpose as it slowly dawned on him, "...double Math, *CENSORED* it". He rolled over and buried his head in his pillow for a few moments as if he was strenuously searching for some kind of escape back to dream land.

---

"So you see, by dividing the result of Y we get the definition of X. Thus, acquiring the final term..." Mr Staunton's voice echoed and faded into the depths of Andrews mind, forgotten. He wondered if Mr Staunton actually believed the class was taking anything in. He certainly wasn't. "In one ear and out the other", he recalled just a shard of the scattered lectures his mother gave him. He had so many lectures they resembled something of a shattered sheet of glass. The pieces were scattered across his memory, many too small to see. "Oh well, 5 minutes and we're out of here", he thought. He had a free hour next before lunch. "Time to get some confirmation on what's happening on New Years Eve", he thought. He didn't feel like being one of those stuck in doors playing video games as the turn of the year came, he frowned a little, some underage drinking and some loud music ought to do it.

He felt a nudge from Rosie, the girl sitting next to him. He glanced over with a look of puzzlement as she nodded her head in the general direction of the teacher. He looked towards Mr Staunton. His eyes glared inquisitively at Andrew. "Well, did you understand all that, Andrew?" His enquiry had a futile tone to it. "Uh...Yeah, I did. Thanks", Andrew hesitated slightly, knowing full well that he did not understand. "Oh you did? Ok, if you wouldn't mind explaining for those in the class that didn't, how did we solve the equation?" by Mr Staunton's tone, it was obvious he knew Andrew couldn't answer the question. "Well, you s--", Andrew was interrupted mid sentence. His saviour had pulled through again; the bell to signal the end of class.

As he vacated the class Andrew started some idle banter with a good friend, Alex, about the baseball game last night. No sooner had they begun; Mr Staunton pulled Andrew aside briskly, "You're barely passing this class as it is, Andrew. I suggest you take things seriously, you‘re more than capable of passing this if you put your mind to it." Andrew's lack of respect towards authority in general was a redeeming flaw, one that he had a real problem accepting, let alone fixing. "Sir, when you can tell me what need I have for this useless theorem and this dull subject, then I'll start to take it seriously", Andrew was just itching to get away and catch up with everyone in the social area. Unfortunately, another thing he hadn't learned was that talking back did not help his cause. "How many times have I sent you to the head of the department?" Mr Staunton wasn't going to let him go without a good grilling. "More times than I care to remember", Andrew kept up his vain defiance, which only lead to more trouble. "Well, I think it's time for another one to be scheduled. Now, please, get out of here before you waste any more of my time", Mr Staunton had the last word. ‘Well, at least I'm out of here now', he thought.

---

Club Masumane was heaving, as you would expect on New Years Eve. The buzz of constant conversation was only eclipsed by the emphatic music. Andrew, after surveying his surroundings, noticed a group of people with a particularly strange dress sense in the club. They appeared out of place in the current surroundings, "Who the hell wears shades, not only at night, but also in a poorly lit building?" He said aloud. Alex laughed. Andrew glanced at the big screen; which had been erected especially. "The New Years TV celebration looks slightly similar to last years", giving it little thought.

The countdown to the New Year ran down and a loud cheer raised the roof of the club. Andrew glanced at the screen again, almost like he was entranced by it. He looked away in the direction of a banner, 'Happy New Millennium!" it read. He was attracted back to the screen as if it was some kind of giant magnetic mass. The screen flickered slightly and then, a feeling of familiarity. "Major deja-vu moment", he shouted at Alex, trying to drown out the abrasive music. Andrew continued, "Happy New Millennium!" Alex stopped and gave Andrew a look of puzzlement, as everything else in the room seemed to stop. "New Millennium? What're you talking about, it's just turned 1999! You‘ve had too much to drink." Andrew glanced towards the banners. To his absolute amazement, they read Happy New Year: 1999! He swivelled his head towards the TV; the footage being played was the same celebrations of 1999 that he had dreamt about, the same program as last year. He was sure of it. Nobody else seemed to notice or care. "Do they even realise?", Andrew began to lose control. He stumbled back, frantically looking around the club. His breath quickened; the music raged on. Alex looked confused; Andrew frightened. Andrews frantic actions seemed to grab the attention of the strangely dressed group he noticed earlier that night.

Andrew ran out of the club, disorientated. He could feel the glaring eyes of others outside, burning a hole in the back of his head. He could only focus on the ground as he staggered along. "What the hell is going on? I didn't have that much to drink", he questioned. "Why is everyone saying it's 1999? What is that same TV program doing on the screen?".

"A popular phrase in Zion, around the time of my awakening", Yasamuu stared out of the cockpit window. He continued sifting through his inner thoughts, "The Matrix cannot tell you who you really are. As detached from Zion as I felt, I was always drawn to that phrase. It described my position perfectly", Yasamuu glanced upwards at the warring skies, a perfect visual reminder of the past which shaped the current world. "Before I became aware, I was disrespectful towards Authority, I was rebellious -- a down right trouble maker. You'd think I was tailor made for Zion; they did when they tracked me down. Yet, as my awareness of humanities collective dream world began to broaden so did my appreciation for a great variety of things". Yasamuu joked to himself, "If I had been told back then that I would be working for an organisation that is effectively a global authority, where efficiency and respect are two of the many vital aspects of the organisation...Well, I'd probably have slapped whoever had told me". He shuddered at the thought of his old self.

"Many would argue it is a subconscious decision. Perhaps when we are awoken, there is a part of us that truly hates what we once were and will do anything to change in what can only be described as our rebirth. Perhaps it is a hatred of the simulation for dictating what we were to become, for restricting what we could become. At any extent, I'm not sure I feel that hatred", Yasamuu shook his head. "No, I would suggest that we can shape our new lives based on the experiences of our previous lives. Based on the knowledge and awareness of our flaws and our desire to take advantage of, and adapt to, this new life". Yasamuu sat down in the Captains chair of his hovercraft, "The Matrix cannot tell us who we really are, no. However, we can. We can tell ourselves who we really are; learning from our pasts and that is how everyone can move forward".

Figured there wasn't a discussion for any Football (soccer) so I'd go ahead and make one like the NFL discussion thread.

The UEFA Champions League kicked off last night and there was already a shock result with FC Cluj of Romania, debutants in the competition, scoring a win against Roma in Rome one of the toughest places to go to throughout Europe. The question is whether they can match the might of Chelsea in the next round of matches. They will have the advantage of home soil.

Tonight sees Manchester United, Arsenal (England) and Celtic (Scotland) in action. Hopefully all do well for the sake of the reputation of their home leagues. (Though if Celtic lose I'll be happy SMILEY)

Wednesday, 17 September 2008
Celtic v AaB, Gp E, 19:45
Dynamo Kiev v Arsenal, Gp G, 19:45
FC Porto v Fenerbahce, Gp G, 19:45
Juventus v Zenit St Petersburg, Gp H, 19:45
Lyon v Fiorentina, Gp F, 19:45
Man Utd v Villarreal, Gp E, 19:45
Real Madrid v BATE, Gp H, 19:45
Steaua Bucuresti v Bayern Munich, Gp F, 19:45

The game of the night will be Juventus vs Zenit St Petersburg, for me. Don't be suprised if Zenit pull off a victory, either. There is a huge amount of money and quality in the Russian leagues right now and the UEFA Cup winners of last year, beating Rangers 2-0, will be darkhorses in this years Champions League.

~~

The English Premiership has seen an interesting start with the biggest suprise being that Spurs are at the bottom of the league after 4 games, feel sorry for Gareth (Bale), having shelled out £70m on new players it's rather suprising to see them languished at the bottom but as the saying goes it's a marathon not a sprint.

Liverpool and Chelsea sit joint top, with Liverpool bouyed by their first League win over Manchester United in over 4 years at the weekend, running out deserved 2-1 winners. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can finally mount a challenge on the league title having been in the top 4 for the past 3 years but not good enough to challenge the front runners of Manchester United or Chelsea, certainly for Liverpool fans this is long overdue.

Saturday, 20 September 2008
Blackburn v Fulham, 15:00
Bolton v Arsenal, 17:30
Liverpool v Stoke, 15:00
Sunderland v Middlesbrough, 12:45
West Ham v Newcastle, 15:00
Sunday, 21 September 2008
Chelsea v Man Utd, 14:00
Hull v Everton, 15:00
Man City v Portsmouth, 15:00
Tottenham v Wigan, 15:00
West Brom v Aston Villa, 12:00

The pick of the fixtures this weekend is Chelsea vs Manchester United on Sunday, that should be a thriller.

~~

The Scottish Premierleague sees Rangers out in front(Woot) at the top by 3 points ahead of archrivals Celtic, whom they beat 4-2 at Celtics home ground two weeks ago, and Kilmarnock both tied on 10points. Rangers ended Kilmarnocks spell as the only team in the UK not to have conceeded a goal by narrowly beating them 2-1 in the battle to become out right leaders of the league, both teams had entered the match level on 10points but Rangers took all 3 thanks to Kris Boyd. New comers to the league Hamilton have made a good start to their campaign beating favourites for 3rd place Dundee United in their opening game in the league and laying in 4th place. United had been tipped for third but find themselves rockbottom after 5 matches with a measley 2 points. Celtic and Motherwell are flying the flag in Europe for Scotland this year after Rangers' early shock exit.

Saturday, 20 September 2008
Aberdeen v Dundee Utd, 12:30
Hamilton v Hibernian, 15:00
Hearts v Inverness CT, 15:00
St Mirren v Falkirk, 15:00
Sunday, 21 September 2008
Kilmarnock v Celtic, 16:00
Rangers v Motherwell, 15:00

The pick of the fixtures this weekend is Kilmarnock against Celtic at Rugby Park. 2nd vs 3rd and having being beaten by Rangers this weekend, Kilmarnock will want to bounce back and continue their good start to the season, though it will be a very difficult task to do so against Celtic. Coming back from a european match can tire a team though and Celtic will have to cope.

The Lounge Matrix Universe The past, the future and the inbetween... The past, the future and the inbetween... Yasamuu 0 07/13/2008 11:53
Is The Matrix Online community one that is very much stuck in the past?

Just an observation, more than anything else but hopefully it will spark a discussion.

In my lurking of the boards I notice a number of people mentioning players they'd like to see return, factions of old, combat systems of old and most of all when referencing the story things that aren't 'Matrixy' or words to that effect.

Briefly touching on this section as it's not the main point of my post; of course, we all have friends who have left the game and former factions who have disbanded and we have our likes from the old combat system and the constant reminiscing isn't all bad but I do find that it's a little detrimental. The games community may appear to be stuck in the past, somewhat. There is some optimism but we tend to look back on the healthier days of the game and think 'Ahh those were the days! the game isn't a patch on what it was back then!' and I can't help but think that those kind of posts turn people off the game. Perpetual optimism and looking at the future through rose tinted specs aren't the answer either. Also, although many do welcome new players, there are plenty who would prefer to mock the new and their questions, prefering to kill them or just taunt them in some form. Just try making a character running to Mara C and typing a few words incorrectly in your question and see the reaction you will often get.

I think, in regards to appearing to be stuck in the past, the story is the thing that tends to suffer the most. People seem far too set in their ways about how events back in the day were amazing and how it made things 'Matrixy'. Now, I'm not going to sit here and tell people their opinion is wrong. It stands to reason that a game with a Live Events team instead of just a solo developer may prosper due to the different ideas that all of them can contribute but even just the manpower to have more happening and multiple stories going at once and inter-twining. I'm still a little lost as to why it's always raised in threads and topics both on general discussion and in the Live Events board or in image retrievals, years after that team is dead and buried. Still, Rarebit is the one man who now controls the destiny of the Matrix storyline so, in effect, what he is doing now is 'Matrixy' because it is the Matrix story and it's in his hands and it's his to decide. Is it not down to us to accept that the direction of the story is where it is because the man who is in control of the matrix storyline decides it is? Of course, constructive critiscim is not what I'm really talking about here as stories will always come under the microscope, it's the pointless 'This isn't Matrixy', 'Less Laser pew-pew' and 'If the wachowski's cared we wouldn't be going down this path' attitude thats the real problem. I feel we should embrace the fact that the story is evolving in new paths as The Matrix itself at the end of the third film is in a state it has never been in on a path it's never been on before. Things were always likely to change.

Oh, and on the subject of 'Laser pew-pew' I've always felt that was a cinematic style issue (a style which, by the time cinematics had finished was actually pretty good) rather than a storyline flaw, only it was associated with the storyline just because of the disdain shown to the cinematics at that point. Infact, people herald the meatwad and implode animations and adore their Perpetual code eyes in game. These are the effects we would have seen if the cinematics had remained in an ingame format.

Anyway, discuss, debate and hate... well.. don't hate we'll have a thread lock on our hands if you do SMILEY<img src=" />

Yasamuu returned fire instantaneously.

A knife flew towards him with velocity and gashed the top of his arm.

***

Yasamuu glared out at the desolate landscape in front of him. Much has changed, yet the face of the land remains the same. He wondered if he had changed. He probably had. There's a difference between changing and learning, though. He recalled just a few of the challenges that confronted him over the past few years. They were all difficult for a variety of reasons and yet he had come through them all, he'd learned many lessons. He had a clear head now. He looked up to the warring skies. They reflected the situation at the moment. There is a cocktail of conflict. An incoming call, It was Agent Gray, "Operative, make your way to the Tabor Park Complex. There is a situation we must discuss". Yasamuu responded, "Understood, Sir".

"Operative, a threat has been detected in one of our strong holds in the Maribeau area", Agent Gray began. "It appears there has been a breach of security over there. Please, make your way there and eliminated the threat". Doesn't sound too difficult, Yasamuu said to himself. "Alright, I'll head right over", he said aloud.
Yasamuu arrived under a clouded night sky. He noticed the door had been forced open; he drew his pistol as a precaution. "I'm not tracking any active programs in there", his Operator, Oremo, said in his ear, "Check the room on the far left, looks like there's some destroyed programs", he continued, "It's some of ours". Yasamuu surveyed the scene; a bluepill body and a SWAT Security team, all dead. The bluepill must have been an Agent, he thought. He checked over its body and could find no trace of a wound. "Curious", he heard Agent Gray through his earpiece, "That was indeed an Agent of the system. We shall investigate this scene further. Return to the Tabor West compound, Operative. Mission complete".

Yasamuu enjoyed taking in the view from the waiting room. Waiting was far from drab. The view was breathtaking. The pleasant glow of life from street lamps upon the beautiful backdrop of the now clear sky. The moon was--His train of thought was interrupted by an Agents arrogant footsteps. He spoke, "Make your way to Dannah Heights, Operative. Agent Gray will inform your operator of the mission details".
Oremo gave Yasamuu the lo-down, "Alright. Agents investigated the base in Maribeau. They analysed some blood they found and have managed to trace the blood to who it came from". Oremo continued, "Akina, is her name. She worked with a group who had been presumed eliminated. They were a renegade group, but they haven't been seen since the Machines dispatched some sentinels to take care of their hovercraft". Apparently they didn't take good enough care, Yasamuu thought to himself. "We've tracked her to this location in Dannah Heights. Your job is to eliminate her, your rifle should receive a round of kill codes any minute now produced by the Agents from that blood sample".
Yasamuu arrived at the location. It was a warehouse. She must be looking for something, he thought. "She's on floor 5", Oremo said over his earpiece. Yasamuu entered the building, there didn't appear to be any security. Cautiously, he approached the door and turned the knob. Slowly, he opened the door and slipped inside. "Second door on the right", whispered Oremo. Yasamuu approached the door softly. He coiled like a cobra and sprung, kicking down the door and aiming his rifle around the open area in front of him. Nothing. He took sharpe glances around the room, focusing his mind.

He caught a faint change in the wind and ducked.

A knife flew inches over his crouched back.

Yasamuu returned fire with two shots aimed in the direction the knife came from.

He darted behind a nearby pillar.

"Akina, I presume", he said aloud."Yasamuu, how nice to finally meet you", she replied. He tried to snatch a glance at her position but as he looked round the pillar a knife hurtled past, narrowly missing his head. "Careful, you could have my eye out with one of those", he quipped. "You'll be wishing that was the limit of their capabilities when I'm done with you", she retorted. "Such a shame, I was just enjoying getting to know you", there was little else he could do but continue the banter. She had him where she wanted him and he knew it.

He drew his Pistol and fired a few bullets from the safety of his cover.

"Yet you seem so keen on killing me", she said. "I'm not all that impressed, to be honest", Yasamuu replied. Akina began sarcastically, "I might just break down and cr--", but Yasamuu interrupted her with fake snores. "Son of a *CENSORED*", she blasted.

Akina snuck up to the pillar.

Yasamuu holstered his pistol.

Her voice alerted Yasamuu.

"You know, I always wondered how I would fair in Russian Roulette".

She began inching slowly around the pillar.

It was a battle of wits and luck.

Choose the wrong side and the game was over.

She inched to the left as he moved right.

The air was so tense she could have cut it with her knife.

He fired to the right.

She moved right.

He tricked her.

He was waiting.

He fired a single shot through her forehead.

She let out a high pitched shriek.

Her final act of living.

She crumpled to the floor, lifeless.

"Man, you sounded like you enjoyed that too much", Oremo said in a joking manner. "Well, it beats killing exiles", Yasamuu responded; slightly aggravated. "Check her body for a data CD", Oremo continued, "Once you've done that the head honcho wants you back at Tabor West for a debriefing, give him the CD when you get there".
Yasamuu approached a heavily guarded room and went through the same brief security checks before he was allowed to enter. "You may proceed", the Agent stated blankly. Yasamuu entered. "Greetings, Operative", Agent Gray uttered his usual welcome. Yasamuu wondered if Gray had ever been stuck on repeat. "You dealt very successfully with that terrorist. You recovered a data cd?", Gray queried. "Yes, sir. I found it on Akina's body", Yasamuu handed over the CD. "Thank you, Operative", he continued, "Your service to the system has been noted. You may return to your hovercraft if you wish".

Yasamuu lay tired but awake on his bed staring up at the darkness. Things seemed settled and peaceful. He enjoyed the tranquillity, though he wished he could sleep. Oremo came bursting through the door, "Yas, it's Agent Gray. He's got an update on that CD". Yasamuu rubbed his eyes as the light blinded him for a moment. Grumpily, he got to his feet and let out an exasperated sigh, "This better be good". He dragged himself through to the Operators chair and put on the headset. "Hello", he said wearily. "Operative, the data CD revealed that the terrorist group that Akina was a part of is still very much active. Infact, this CD contained details of an invitation from the Merovingian". The Merv? Yasamuu questioned in his head. "Do we have any idea why?", he asked Gray. "Not at this time, Operative. We do, however, need you inside for a briefing, HostileIntention and exsuscito have also been informed and are on their way". I bet they've had some sleep, he thought. "Ok, I'm on my way", Yasamuu said.

The relentless rain thrashed Yasamuu's face. His attention was undivided. His focus fixed. The fragility of the situation dictated the tiniest of mishaps could be the end of everything. A car lay stricken in the middle of the road; smoke billowing. Faint flames were flickering under the hood, fighting the incessant rain with futility. Yasamuu threw himself behind it for protection. He could feel the warm blood seeping from the knife wound in his upper arm as he struggled to cling to his rifle. "This is the end for you", Yasamuu heard him bellow, followed by a manic laugh...

A simple idea really, born out of farming multiple hair colour pills that correspond with the male version I'm trying to farm but can only seem to get said female version.

How about a collector where you can trade in your female RSI Pill for a male version and vice-versa?

The Lounge Off-Topic Discussion Marriage. Marriage. Yasamuu 0 05/27/2008 15:55
  No.. I'm not getting married.

I find this an interesting topic, however and I'm just wondering whether people today still value Marriage and how they look at it nowadays compared to in the past and how different generations see it. Is it just a scrap of paper? Is it a decleration of love? Is it a complete waste of time?

There's all time highs in divorce and there seems to be this ever climbing trend of people cheating on their partners, be they married or not. Why? Is it a social problem? Is it down to poor morale standards? Do people not do enough to save marriages? or do they dive in too early with the whole "oh my god, white wedding" idea? Do people not take the responsiblity of saying no and ending things before they go too far if they're having doubts?

Being rather old fashined(the fact that I even consider it to be old fashioned tells it's own story, really) in this department I tend to feel that when I'm in a relationship and (when I do eventually get married) I'm 100% commited to my partner. Other people might be attractive physically or on some other level but there's a reason why I'd be with the partner I'm with and nothing else would change that. Marriage should be ever lasting, 'til death do us part and all that because you should be getting married to someone that you want to spend your entire life with.

So, after well over a year of not touching photoshop I got back into it recently and have been working on some images and teaser posters for some work I have planned in the future. Hopefully, if I manage to attain a respectable enough standard of image enhancement, I'll go on to produce a Graphic Novel of my Characters final few months in the Matrix along with various Next Renaissance posts. The main point in it would be to tell a story, however, it'd be rather pointless to tell a story where the images sucked, I might as well put it as a written post, but hopefully I'll be able to reach the standard I feel comfortable with and be able to tell the story while putting to use some photoshop skills at the same time and bring together a respectable piece.

Until then, I plan on doing some pretty mad stuff with photoshop just experimenting and the likes, so I figured an Image thread for posting them would be the wise thing to do.

So, without further delay an incomplete teaser image I'm working on:

I was busy taking shots in Sakura and managed to snap this one which I was pretty happy with so played around with it *a little*.

The next three images are part of a Next Renaissance post here:

Don't hesitate to post constructive criticism, I'm quite happy to hear how I can improve. Thanks!

(Must add my thanks to those whom I've asked for a few tips recently, they really helped.)

I must say, there are some beautiful sights in this place.

Perhaps one day I'll see them all. It's a lot better than looking at that barren wasteland in the real.

It's interesting, the longer one fights and the longer one works, the more determined one becomes.

More determined for a rest.

Food for thought, I suppose.

Keep in mind, you need to trade one of each of these snowballs to the Holiday Helpers positioned outside of clubs throught the Mega City. However, the ticket is NOT re-usable IF you complete the mission (we'll get to the loophole for those who've done this before in a bit, however, this is mainly aimed at newbies to the winter event). You need to re-trade again with a Holiday Helper collector.

Holiday Helpers(aka, Sexy **CENSORED**. =P):

Collect your Holiday Mission Ticket from Holiday Helpers. You will notice that there are items(and a fair amount of them at that) which can be retrieved by trading Perfect Snowflakes and the new Ruby Snowflakes.

Chill Simulacrums(Yetis, but I'll stick with it's real name for the moment):

These are the NPC's that spawn between mission zones and drop both the new Ruby Snowflake which you can trade for the two of the new items and last years Perfect Snowflake which you can trade in for some of this years new items, along with last years. You will be looking to trade these in for items from the Holiday Helpers. Having thrown resistance will lower the damage they deal considerably. They're not particularly difficult to kill, just don't use interlock builds. So, Sniper or MKT would be the obvious choices.

Holiday Mission Ticket:

Start the holiday mission and run to the zone, you will need 4 inventory slots free. Thanks to Exsuscito for braving it and working out that the mission WON'T fail if you have a full inventory, the present will drop on the ground allowing you to sort your invent then pick up any dropped items.

Anyways, move on from zone one DON'T HYPERJUMP, just run to the next mission zone. On the way you will encounter either one Chill Simulacrum or a pack of them(2 or 3). If you find a single Chill Simulacrum that has 3 chevrons, you have a good chance of it dropping a Ruby Snowflake the snowflake still has a chance of dropping on lower chevron npcs, but they're not as likely to drop. Perfect Snowflakes have a *very* good chance of dropping at least once on your Chill Simulacrums bodies(the higher the chevrons, the better) I say this as Tseng curses on ventrilo because of his apparent lack of a snowflake after killing six chill simulacrums. However, that is a rare occurance. After killing the first round of Chill Simulacrums, head onwards to drop off the first two presents. From here, run to the next zone again without hyperjumping and you'll find another spawn of Chill Corrupters. Head on to finish the mission off and recieve two perfect snowflakes, so one way or another you will recieve two perfect snowflakes.

The Loophole:

For those of you who have plenty of info, and don't really need masses of Snowflakes you might just want to call the mission get to the first spawn of NPCs, kill them, then restart the mission.

I don't normally watch Boxing, it's one of the few sports I don't get into really. However, advertising and build up on Sky Sports News has totally sucked me in for this fight.

I do enjoy watching big sporting events as a one off even if I don't watch through the regular seasons, fights or competitions(Like the superbowl, for example) but I can't say I've been sucked in by a Boxing event like this before.

Ricky Hatton is undefeated, 43 Wins and 0 Losses.  Floyd Mayweather is undefeated, 38 Wins and 0 Losses.

Plus, I've been to the MGM Grand, all be it briefly :p Which is the venue for the fight. Promises to be a very entertaining night.

The Lounge Off-Topic Discussion Euro 2008 Qualifiers Aftermath: England sack McClaren Euro 2008 Qualifiers Aftermath: England sack McClaren Yasamuu1 0 11/22/2007 03:17

I can't believe I didn't put a bet on, 6-1 to be out of the job before christmas! Would have made a tidy profit on that.

So, I guess I'm going to look at things from an un-biased perspective(as un-biased as someone from Scotland can be, at least) since Scotland were in something a rut a few years ago.

First and foremost, it's no real suprise he was sacked. He underachieved, no doubt about it. England would have expected to qualify from their group that contained no world beaters. Yet they didn't and had a very below-par campaign, despite being thrown 2 or 3 lifelines by israel and getting back to 2-2, only to lose 3-2, against croatia. You look at Scotland and Northern Irelands groups, and you see some real quality sides(3 of the top 4 teams in the world cup, including the winners(Italy) and runners up(France) in Scotlands group and Spain, Denmark and Sweden in Northern Irelands group). And yet, It is Scotland and Northen Ireland who really lit up this Qualifying campaign with some sensational performances. Scotland and Northern Ireland can come away with real pride and a sense of achievement, despite not qualifying(both finishing 3rd a couple of points behind 2nd place). Nobody expected Scotland or Northern Ireland to perform as they did, and take their opponents down to the wire.

Secondly, for me, *some* English fans and most of the media tend to expect their team to win the World Cup and every tournament it enters. I suppose, thats fair enough. Expectations aren't damaging. What isn't fair and what IS damaging is the way they tend to write off opposition teams. I'm still hearing supposed football experts saying, "England should have walked this group". Sorry, but who did they pay off to be classed as experts? Croatia are not world heavy weights, nor are Russia(Who finished above them in the qualifiers). However, what they are is technical masters for football. They are physically sound and their technical ability and skill is far above that of Englands. There is a recurring theme; England losing to technically gifted teams. Russia and Croatias midfield have out played Englands in 3 out of 4 games between the two and England. Last night Modric made himself look like a 30million pound man, against supposed World Class footballers in the form of Lampard and Gerrard. It seems to be the whole footballing world that sees it, except some English fans and most of the media. The way the media tends to write off Englands opposition, to me, transfers onto the players from time to time. The sheer arrogance, to believe that they've already won a game before they've kicked a ball is transfered onto the players and it effects them on the pitch. At the end of the day, if you don't prove it on the pitch that you deserve to win the World Cup, then you don't deserve to.

Thirdly, what would a different manager have done differently? I'm not going to lie, I find it almost baffling that McClaren threw young Scott Carson in goal for only his second appearance in an England shirt in arguably one of the most important games of McClarens managerial career. But besides that and one or two other questionable decisions throughout his two years, is there really any other players that have been missed out in McClarens reign? I'm not so sure that there is much another manager could have done differently in terms of selection of squads.

Again, for me, the problem lies in Englands lack of technical ability, and their lack of understanding in how to overcome a technically better side along with the over-hyping of the team. I suppose, you could argue the manager should teach the players how to battle with technical players, but it's common sense really. It's been the success of Scotland and Northern Ireland this campaign, and the undoing of Englands.

Anyways, Berti Vogts for new England manager!

For Trace.

I would like to begin, by saying that I am about to write a story that I never thought I would write. I'm going to bring an end to my own character, NightTrace. I'm going to go over a small bit of history, and then I will continue with the story. NightTrace, has been a member of the Mega City Department of Energy, from the first day he jacked in to the Matrix, to the last day he jacked in. He left the employment of that group going on two hours before his last mission, and after that, this story takes over. I am not deleting the character, but I have no plans to ever reactivate the account. If I am to ever come back to the Mega City, it will be as someone else all together, and I'll probably avoid ever letting it be known who I am, basing my decision off of the actions that led to my removal of our community. Thanks for the 2 1/2+ years.

It was raining that night, the sky not so much black from the storm clouds, but a pure empty void.
The rain was comforting though, its icy chill bringing some peace to his own inner turmoil.
He had gone against everything he had said for more then a year...that the Cypherites were the embodiment of the poor decisions of the Machines. That they did not deserve help, and if anything, they deserved to die.
Yet that night, he had gone with them, and he had helped kill.
Members of Zion, veterans of the "Old War" all, had their signals locked down, and were killed.
Because of who they were, or to be more specific, because of who they used to be.
They were on outdated list, and so they were killed.
Not because their current positions in Zion made them valuable targets, but just because it was possible.
Senseless violence, and he had helped.
His hands gripped the stone railing harder...then his hand bunched into a fist and his punched the stone as hard as he could.
The dull pain reminded him that he was still alive.
He had left his ship today, the Transom...he had been its first mate.
They docked, and he just walked into the depot, and went to one of the barges and jacked in from an empty table.
He didn't leave a note, and he didn't say a word to the men and women he had worked with for two years.
He knew, that today was going to be the end..and maybe the start of something new.
He didn't know who he was anymore...faces started to flash through his mind...the faces of loves long gone...Alice...Sallo...but he didn't even know if that was true, who was he, to be so arrogant as to say he knew what love was.
The words of friends drifted past his ears, and he remembered days that made him proud...the KoN and the Department, working together to strengthen the Truce, to bring down the General..so many great moments...Symmetric, Musutangu, Fenshire, Venetrix, all of them had joined the ranks of the Mega City Department of Energy, and each of them did so because they believed in making things better.
Things never got better.
Things always stayed the same... or got worse.
Then the Truce broke...and everything died. Hope...working together...the future.
Each side blamed the other, and honestly it was everyones fault, because no one was in it alone.
But when was the last time you heard someone admit that?
He had tried, tried to bring reason, but Zion expected him to seig heil, and step in line to their tune.
They wanted someone to tell them that they were right, and that the Mechs were the ones who had done everything wrong.
The mechs just wanted to blame it on Zion.
Neither side right, neither side wrong.
Both so far gone, that they would never come back to the way things needed to be.
He turned, and picked up the long case he had left leaning against the door. He set it down on the floor and unzipped it, inside was a long rifle. Though it was a tad archaic compared to some of the weapons that people liked to wield anymore, he had a love for older rifles. This one was a mint condition Moison Nagant, the wood smooth as silk, the metal polished to a fault.
He knew that in this place, how old a gun was didn't matter, the code that formed the rifle, was the same throughout.
He knew that it was ones skill over the manipulation of the code that led to the quality of the weapon.
And he knew, that everything he did was being seen.
After all, he had used one of the "public tables" to jack in.
Every request he made, was watched, and every move he made was recorded.
He had betrayed his friends, and he had betrayed his own ideals.
Once he had broken, there was no more hope.
He was dead inside.
And that was why he was there.
There would be no peace across the City he had grown to love.
No peace between Zion and the Machines.
No peace between man and machine.
No peace.
But he would have his peace.
He wouldn't jack in every day, hoping to make a small difference, and feel ashamed when nothing was accomplished.
Never again.
Not anymore.
He raised the rifle to his shoulder, his eye peering down the small scope.
Through the crosshairs he could see his target.
And the target looked up at him, with a face that could have been made from steel.
Behind him, the hammer of a pistol cocked.
Less then a second later, it fired.
The round caught him right above the back of his neck.
He was dead before his body even fell forward, tumbling over the roofs edge.
The target lifted two fingers to the side of his head, and acknowledged the report. Then went about his business.
NightTrace had peace at last.

Are these items supposed to take an age to drop, due to the fact they're required for Box 4? I just feel like their drop rate compared to other collector loot from gangs is much lower.

What does everyone think so far?

I have to say thumbs up so far. I'm enjoying it, it's not too difficult but not too easy either.

The buffs on the clothing are good, the fact that there is multiple pieces too makes it awesome.

Great job so far SMILEY

If you apply your Overdrive Bandana:

You get the enraged effect. (No system message appears to say you're now enraged)

When you apply a Smith Rage Pill:

You get a system message saying you're already enraged. Removing your Overdrive Bandana removes the enraged effect (as you can see above "You are no longer enranged"SMILEY.

Allowing for a player to enter a tournament with Smith Rage Pill running and no trace being found. It also allows for them to PvP without being effected by enraged.

Matchday 1 has been and gone with a fairly poor showing for all British teams involved. Liverpool were really the only team to come out of Matchday 1 with any kind of "decent" result as a 1-1 in Porto isn't too much of a tragedy, especially with Jermaine Pennant being sent off. Chelsea were held by Rosenborg at home after a lackluster performance. The only real plus point they could take from the game was that Andriy Schevchenko scored. Last..and definitely least of the British sides, Celtic lost 2-0 away to Shaktar. Shaktar, having spent 40m on their team in the summer, ripped Celtic apart in the opening 10minutes and from then on there was only ever going to be one winner, due to Celtics lack of penetration.

AC Milan 2-1 Benfia

Chelsea 1-1 Rosenborg

Porto 1-1 Liverpool

Schalke 0-1 Valencia

Shaktar 2-0 Celtic

Marsielle 2-0 Besiktas

Real Madrid 2-1 Werder Bremen

Olympiakos 1-1 Lazio

Results elsewhere and probably the most suprising win of the night was Valencia's 1-0 win away to Schalke. Other than that and the Chelsea match, no real shocks, though Real Madrid made hard work of their opponents Werder Bremen.

Tommorow, we see most importantly (SMILEY<img src=) Rangers, Arsenal and Manchester United play.

Feedback Forums Ability Feedback Dual Pistol Dash Dual Pistol Dash Yasamuu1 0 09/14/2007 12:53

Dual Pistol Dash, when used after an attempt on a shield, does not have a re-use timer that blocks us from using it. Obviously, the ability cannot be used until the opponents shield is down, however, upon breaking an opponents shield there is still no timer blocking us from using the ability so it looks like a viable ability to use - when you try and use it the IS is drained from you but the ability does not go through. All I'm proposing is that a timer be placed on the ability, blocking us from using it until that shield attack timer has reset - preventing any loss of IS.

(My shield too a hit which is why there's a small amount of IS missing, however, if it hadn't there would be a red section stretching from where it ends in that screenshot to the far right of the IS bar, representing the IS drained for attempting to use the move)

As you can see, the re-use time for me attempting to interlock has started but there isn't one for dual pistol dash(ability 6 in from the left), which would prevent un-necessary IS drain.

Ok...

I have an ATI X300 graphics card (Yuck I know, but it came with my dell PC so Im pretty sure replacing it is either impossible or will cause me more issues).

Basically, over the past couple of days anytime I run missions I seem to run into this issue where my pointer starts bugging out and I can't select doors or elevator panels. Body parts seem to go invisible or see through and I either eventually crash out of MxO or my PC crashes.

Any Ideas?

I've tried re-installing drivers, using driver cleaner and deleting any existing old drivers to make sure there's nothing from previous drivers conflicitng.

Seems to be within the level 30-40 range that a bug crops up with evade combat. It's basically impossible to avoid. Turn on your evade shield, when on block, if your opponent tries to hit your evade it takes up to 4-5 hits before it's taken down on grab tactis.

In a standard 50v50 combat, it should take no more than 2-3 hits on grab to expose someones shield. However, as you can see, it takes 4.

System logs:

However, with speed tactics it takes the standard amount of time that it should.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foo...ope/6964586.stm

The Spanish wing back, 22 years of age, of Sevilla FC passed away today in hospital after suffering a heart attack during their 4-1 victory over Getafe on Saturday.  He had previously collapsed, twice, but both incidents were quite far apart and during pre-season friendlies in which the heat was thought to be the issue. His death follows the death of Queens Park Rangers youngster Ray Jones in a car crash last Friday and is just the latest in a line of players who have collapsed and later died during a match, Marc Vivien Foe is but one of the many others.

Is it time clubs took a real in-depth look at heart conditions? Presumably medicals are incredibly tough and up to scratch everywhere, Puerta had only just passed a medical for his club three weeks ago, but is there more they can be doing to prevent such a loss to a player with their whole career ahead of them?

Recursion Next Renaissance - Recursion Systematic Chaos: Official Statement Systematic Chaos: Official Statement Yasamuu1 0 07/13/2007 08:41

((Eh, so I rather struggled to come to terms with this truce breaking IC because it rather spits all over my character. My reasons for staying with the org/faction are almost all OOC as IC I struggle to justify recent events, however I'm not an Rp'er first and foremost, so I will not leave my faction or my org for OOC reasons and will have to take on the task of justifying my reasons for remaining.))

Systematic Chaos stood for the truce, since it was formed. There has always been some back and forth between Machines and Zion about trucebreakers and siding with terrorists. However, I don't think any of us saw this day coming, at least so soon. We've now tried gathering as much information as possible, on the decisions that were made.

Last night, I took a stand like the DoE did. I refused to attack those Zionites at the Chelsea-Maribeau bridge. Why? In a time like this, knee jerk reactions and blind faith is what will get us stuck in a rut. We had no time for discussion, reaction, reflection after Torman informed us of the breaking of the truce and that is completely idiotic. Running into a battlefield all guns blazing, shoot first ask questions later is Inefficient and it's something we're fighting against. In a situation as tense and as difficult as this? Sense is required, patience. That being said, some of my faction mates assisted as they felt that was the thing to do. Fair game, each to their own. We were still in the process of discussing our stance amongst council members. Now we have gathered as much information as possible, we bring you our stance.

We still stand for the truce. It is our priority to achieve peace with mankind again. Peace and working together for a better future, that is what we were always working towards with Zion and this truce still intact. We are willing to meet with anyone who wants to discuss peace, to try and find a way to create said peace. That being said, those Zion factions who are not interested in rebuilding the truce, they are our enemies. I'd like to point out that, inviting E Pluribus Neo to the meeting was a big mistake, an immediate negative step in rebuilding. Some of E Pluribus Neo will attempt to manipulate you all so that there is no way back for human-machine prosperity. So, those of us who want to work to re-instate the truce? We're already at a loss here and need to make up for lost time. ((It's much easier to hold relations with Zion factions that want a truce on recursion/syntax than it is on vector ^_^))

One thing I'd like to focus on is the Zion council. For all those that are still interested in building a world where we work hand in hand for a better future, might want to consider why the Zion council made such an important decision without informing any of you. Such an important decision, without even one little mention? Without discussing it with the Machines to actually get clarity on what the reprocussions would be? It just seems rather strange. The council seem to have pulled the wool over all of your eyes in a rather manipulative move which is nothing short of what we've seen before and some EPN are doing their best to manipulate you too. As Procurater of The Glitch Society wisely said, there is no plan in place to wage all out war and send every sentinal in Zero One down to New Zion. Hostilities have not picked up in the real, the only true place you can lose your life nowadays. So, the result of the truce being called off at the moment? We no longer allow Zion to awaken the 1% and if found in any restricted areas, such as downtown Agents will begin to track them. There will be no disruption to them in Richland. So, taking up arms as if we are now in World War 4 is a little naive. Negotiation and Diplomacy is the way forward here, those who don't see it that way and take up arms against us? They will be struck down as terrorists.

I can see why the machines called off the truce, as one of our Officers explained: Why this breaks the Truce: We allowed Zion to awaken bluepills because we always had the option of destroying their entire colony of humans if we needed to. With this, "New Zion," this option is no longer available. This is a violation of the Truce. Personally, I feel this is pre-emptive and I struggle to justify, pre-emptively calling of the truce because of what could happen. However, I do see the point of view "what need is there for a new city? Aslong as they keep to the truce nothing will happen". Truthfully, we accept that the Machines somewhat forced Zion into this building a new city, sending Cypherites after them to kill and torture them was as good as breaking the truce, much like overwriting blue pills was; however, discussions needed to be had instead of building this new city. If we had discussed things? We might not be making this statement. Both sides have to take their share of the blame and come to the table and accept that. Both sides, need to make allowances.

The Cypherites? Our stance doesn't change with them. If the situation arrises, like what happend with Sarv who lied to bluepills when awakening them and killed his own first mate after lying to him when he awakend him, then perhaps our help is warranted. However, we won't go out of our way to aid them and we will not welcome them with open arms, just as we will not rule out definitively that we won't work with them in some capacity. We will NOT work with Cypherites to attack Zion directly, or those Zion who are willing to rebuild this truce.

With all that said, our enemies are those who immediately take up arms against the Machines and have no interest in the progression of mankind hand in hand with the Machines, the ones who have no interest in diplomacy and those who would rather take up arms with those in E Pluribus Neo that try to manipulate your anger, in a fit of rage rather than help get everyone back on track. The rebuilding of the truce is our priority, those who hinder us in that are our enemies.

((This statement is formed for Recursion/Syntax, it varies slightly with what was mentioned in our Vector one because of differences on instances.))
